Thank-you for putting together such a clean and concise summary of the extension. Now I understand why I should leave the advertising to the experts and stick with code development. Outstanding presentation, thank-you.

I appreciate that Nathaniel. Keep up the good work. I'm really impressed with your extensions and look forward to diving deeper and explore the rest of them.

I'm halfway through your book. I love the content and the generous use of applicable graphics on every page. The Medeek tools are awesome. I'm new to sketchUp so it's never a dull moment. Take care and all the best to you and your team.

Awesome review. I've used Google Sketchup for woodworking, and designing/building a 800 sf deck. I'm just a DIY guy, and love to build stuff. I've got 4 kids who are all over the age of 27 and I help them with their projects. I just finished renovation of a farm home, removed 2 walls, built two other, gutted and rebuilt 2 bathrooms and redid the kitchen from the stud walls up. This tool seems like it would be excellent for helping me figure out what the next project will be and building it virtually before doing it on my own. What's already available is sufficient for what I'll be doing. I've got a son-in-law who is an architect and I'll show this to him, along with the contractor that is building my retirement home.

I tried out the Medeek Truss trial a few versions (of SketchUp) back. Excellent plugin. Could have used this for my recent collision detection model I made for a 2-story HVAC mechanical well.

great idea, but what does the final product look like in plan?
@nathanielwilkerson62173 жыл бұрын
I have seen various workflows used within Layout as well as some customers exporting geometry to various CAD programs. My concern so far has been to accurately generate the geometry within the 3D model and now I'm also looking at the estimating side of it as well. Unfortunately, SketchUp does not currently offer a real time API for their Layout product so automating document creation is still a little ways off. However, I have begun to give this more thought and possible DXF export utility within the plugin for auto-generating floor plans for CAD might be in the works.

Can you do a cmu wall, I'm down in Florida and that's basically all we use for exterior walls with 1x furring and 1/2 inch drywall..
@Mastersketchup3 жыл бұрын
Check out 3:00 There is CMU wall mode. It's a simple dropdown selection. Now, as far as is actually quantifying blocks, mortar, etc, I don't think the estimating module goes that far yet to be able to provide that info...

I really think I need to add in a system for coming up with a completely custom wall sandwich, this seems to be a general theme from a lot of users and potential users of the plugin. I will have to give it some serious consideration.

Matt a great presentation mate. Really appreciated it. In keeping with Mikes request, and directed to Nathaniel, … have you been approached by anyone to see if we here in Australia could modify the extension to meet our own building methodologies which are not that dissimilar to the US but perhaps more lightweight generally?
@nathanielwilkerson62173 жыл бұрын
@@GlobalFLATTSman I actually have quite a few Australian power users now of the Wall plugin. I've already made a number of specific features available for the Australian market however I am always open to additional features requests and improvements. If you have any specific suggestions or questions please feel free to email me directly at nathan@medeek.com.

Didn't read all the comments, but what about saving a "myDefaultFrame" frame as a separated component SKP file and just load it when need it? Did that work? BTW thank you for the introduction. I love to see an in depth review about this.
@Mastersketchup3 жыл бұрын
That's not necessary. You already have the ability to save wall presets that can be loaded into the wall configuration window. The problem is once you have several walls drawn, you have to go back to each one individually to make changes. The Copy wall tool makes this pretty fast, actually, but I'd love to see a way to control certain parameters globally.

it looks great_ but will it work with UK regs and measurement? is there a function to convert to metric?
@medeekdesign3 жыл бұрын
The plugins automatically switch to metric when using a metric template or units in SketchUp.

Matt, great introduction to the Medeek tools. I have one or two of the plugins and will end up with all of them. Nathaniel does a great job, especially since he is a one man show. Did you mention his truss plugin, I think that was the first in the series.
@Mastersketchup3 жыл бұрын
I briefly mentioned it at the end. It's going to have to be a separate video for that, lol. So much to cover.

The Truss plugin was started in Oct. 2015, the Foundation plugin was in the summer of 2016 and I started the Wall plugin in April 2018. The Electrical plugin was able to sneak in there early 2019. Most of my upgrades and work has been focused on the Wall plugin the last few years but all of the plugins have seen significant upgrades and are all works in progress. I didn't start full time on them until the Wall plugin came along.

It seems too American in the way it defines/constructs a building component. Would be great if it was more...European so to speak
@medeekdesign3 жыл бұрын
What features could I add that would make it more European?
