It gives enough time for women to actually make decisions regarding her life. I definitely don't think there are any disadvantage of this act. It reduces hypergamy... Many of these love that happens in teens may not be true or everlasting. You might have seen incidents where a 18 year old girl marrying 40+ year man. The girl did not find anyone younger? The girl just got into infatuation without thinking much. When the girl is 21, she may think better and avoid getting fooled by someone or 40+ year man will be afraid to approach a teen as it is illegal now. So this bill will help parents for most part, especially the middle class. In middle class anyway the marriage happens much later to 21 for girls these days. If in case a 21+ year lady decides to marry someone of her choice that is a different scenario. As she is matured now, she might have thought through well. But in general concept of marriage in the west and in India is different. In the west when they say marriage, what they mean is the registration of the marriage. Before the marriage they might have already had physical relationship for many years. They start having relationship as early as 12 or 13 or even before. In India marriage and physical relationship happens the same time for most people. So it is important that people marry in India at least by 21 instead of waiting until getting settled etc. Marriage is not based on how much you are settled or how much money you have. You need to get married at the best of your physical and mental. This will also avoid lot of social and psychological problems, divorce rate, relationship with in-laws etc.
