@@fox2569 Eddie has 2 standout classics yes. But as a professional comedian that reached a higher level of mastery, as a whole I would have to say Chappelle is it. Just one of many ways I can perceive it. At this point Chappelle could run circles around Eddie I'm regards to standup performance because that is what he focused his craft towards. Eddie hasn't done a 30 min plus live televised standup set in 30 years.
@Karmaisabliss215 Жыл бұрын
@@fox2569 there is a reason why Eddie has yet to commit to coming back out on the stage. One being is that he hasn't done it in years. Eddie was ahead of his time with his type of 'raw' material by about 20-30 years. I remember when this special first aired back in 1987 and also watching his Delirious special back in 1983. I recall when watching it, I was kind of horrified and somewhat repulsed by it. He seemed like he was WAY over the edge in those, into x-rated territory. Remember this was the stiff Nancy Reagan / Say No To Drugs era. I was a young guy at the time, and able to roll with heavy and dark comedy, but this material was way above anything else. Part of the shock was because Eddie Murphy at the time was still riding high on all his fame. He had a very funny and mostly wholesome image in all of his other endeavors. So America thought we knew him well enough from seeing him on SNL, in his movies (e.g., Beverly Hills Cop) and listening to his music. So when he dropped these molten meteoric planet killing comedy specials, fans gasped for breath and winced as we half covered our eyes and ears. It was a lot to take in. Kind of like finding out your mom has a kinky S&M sex dungeon in the basement with a famous OnlyFans account. Watching it now, after all these years, and after all the raunchy hip hop music and videos, always-on dark porn, and the shock-comedians that came after him, now it seems pretty tame overall. It still hits hard for sure, but there's a lot less "pearl clutching" when he says his jokes. Long live Eddie Murphy. The man who never seems to age.

Maaaan I remember watching on late tv when I was 12,13 or so. My dad had a night shift and in sneaked downstairs to watch tv. They played both Richard Pryor and this show and fell in love with comedy ever since ❤

True back then and still today. It is quite baffling that there are still men out there who don't know woman nature.

To think that this man has such an incredible gift, a truly phenomenal facility for stand up comedy...and he hasn't done it for 30 years. I don't know anyone who would not be excited if they were told Eddie's back in the clubs, breaking in bits.

I'm not accusing Chappelle of ANYTHING aside from being a student of His Craft. Pryor, Murphy, Carlin and so many other Greats have this way of pulling You in and telling you a fantastic HILARIOUS Story that just happens to touch on the fundamental truths of Life.

"50 shades of gray young millionaire". It's funny because that almost describes my relationship perfectly, except that my girl makes money off the stock market too. Give a girl a fish and she eats for a day. Give a girl a fishing pole and she'll tell you to fuck off. Give a girl an automated fishing boat that lets you set the route and walk away and she will never bug you about fish again. (P.S. That film sucks. Who the fuck uses zip ties? Use shackles. If they're the right size, she can even sleep comfortably in them).
