This guy, being a self taught technician, is doing brilliant work on these high end cars. Im a BMW master tech here in the US, and i am very impressed at the work he does on these cars that look like a tin can ran over and kicked around for a week. Most of these cars look like they came from a "SuperCar Destruction Derby."

I watch every video on both of Mat's channels. He is humble, one of the nicest and giving people on KZbin, in the car world anyway. His vlogs are entertaining, and it's amazing to see what he can do with such destroyed cars. I understand why Adam wants to move on from the car as he has mentioned it in a video I have seen, but I would have loved for him to take a drive in it to close the door on a bad experience, Mat turned lemons into lemon aid for that car and Adam should drink that shit up.

AdamLZ I find quite arrogant these days, threatened by the success of others rather than encouraging their success. I think Porsche not selling some part in the US has to do more with right to repair laws more than anything else. In the EU they are probably requierd by law to sell you any part of the car. There are no such laws in the US.

its a bit of both there a big thing in states with the farmers fighting for right to repair in the end it comes down to money the manufactures spends millions on lobbyists to make sure right to repair don't happen in the states, as the manufacture's makes huge money by holding a monopoly on the repairs, where in the UK and EU we have the right to repair by law so we can just go get any of the parts

Nasty crashes can fuck with people. That car probably just brought back memories he'd rather not relive. I'm not gonna put someone down for that. Maybe he'll come around in time to see it who knows. I lost traction in the rain, and went off a steep embankment. Luckily it wasn't a sheer drop and didn't roll the car. Imagine getting nearly run off the road by some dumbass in F-150 in your little Porshe off a steep embankment like Adam and his gf was. He was lucky the F-150 hit the quarter panel and not directly in the side.

On top of all the great things that have already been said about Mat, I really want to take the opportunity to reiterate that the laws that prevent consumers from buying parts directly from a manufacturer because they aren't "certified shops" echoes one of many things we hear every time we begin a discussion for the right to repair. In some instances, you may choose to purchase aftermarket, and that's your choice; you should have the freedom to make that decision. Cars are much better off than farm equipment and tech items like phones, hardware/appliances since we can still take them to any shops we want, but it would be nice to see people be able to buy parts directly for themselves as the end consumer.

FYI, there are no laws in the US, anywhere, that prevent a company from selling you parts. There are a lot of people who are fighting to get laws to make it so that companies MUST sell you parts. Most companies in the US don't want to sell you parts, because they want to sell you a new one of whatever broke. They don't care about the longevity of their products, about waste, about customer satisfaction... they only care about money. Follow "Right to Repair"

You know how to maybe "drive away" when stopped by CHP in CA? Above the signature line "TRANSFER TO COUNTY SEAT". This only applies to CHP and almost 90% have never heard of it, but it is in their training. Now rather than putting the ticket to the nearest courtroom of the CHP it goes to the County seat maybe five times from the actual car stop. Often times even for speeding (Highway 5 etc) the CHP will just let the driver go with a warning as it is a inconvenience to treck to where the ticket actual goes on a court docket. It is juts not worth it to them often times, Try it NOTHING can happen to the driver. They did after all sign the promise to appear.

Not really, as long as he was fixing the car to sell it you normally buy parts tax exempt anyway as the sales tax is collected at time of sale on the complete vehicle. It could end up being a hassle for him to explain if it wasn't done with a tax id number and whatever else but nothing would come of it unless he was receiving the parts as a retail consumer, which he obviously is not.

I think it's more that the crash came close to being much worse. A pickup on the wrong side of the road wiped out the car with his gf in the passenger seat at the top of a pretty steep hill... That said it'd be nice if he put his big boy panties on did a colab, but I can respect why he might not want to. On a lighter note, he really liked that car, and now she's with someone else.

@@owensparks5013 I lost my favorite car to a wreck to with my girlfriend who now my wife in the passenger seat to some drunk trash balls driving in reverse in the middle of the street going up a hill I had no Idea that at the top of the hill is where we hit. He didn't have insurance I sold the car to a friend's cousin he showed up 15 months later driving it he made it what I wanted to with it but I couldn't have been more happy he fixed it and still own it today

​@Nicholas Douglas my sister was in a severe car accident when we were teens. A blizzard hit the area before she got home, an SUV lost control and hit the car she was in. If she had a seat belt on she'd be dead (this was before seatbelts became law for everyone in the vehicle)every time she sees a car like she was in or the suv that hit her she'd get extremely distraught. I've had close calls as well but they didn't affect me at all, we all handle experiences differently. Having someone in the passenger seat you love will definitely make you look at things differently. A split second later and that truck could have hit his door instead of the bumper and sent him off the top of that hill

Are there not states that have implemented right-to-repair for cars (Massachusetts comes to mind) and if so wouldn't those laws mean that a manufacturer like Porsche is required to make available to independent repairers and individuals any part that is available to authorized repairers (including in this case the front tub for a Porsche 911 992 GT3).
