Met Richard Hammond in Taipei 101 in Taiwan many years ago. Had no clue it was him. Walked up sheepishly and said "Has anyone ever told you that you look like a guy from a British show called 'Top' 'Gear'?" He said "I am the guy from Top Gear" My eyes widened and I said "WHAT!!??" He said "Yeah, that's me." His crew was in the back having a laugh. Very genuine and friendly person. Couldn't believe it, of all places!

@@mclarenjohnf1 F1 teams have far larger budgets for fuel than we mortals. Wearing the hair shirt in penance won't save the planet. This is the reason why I love Porsche, that undefined change, the feeling every time you get into your Porsche, the heritage behind every 911 ever produced. It’s like they say, “don’t fix it if it ain’t broken” and this is what Porsche has been doing for the past 80 years of racing heritage.

@@bad_financial_move9169 This is Richard Hammond. Porsche could've easily made an exception for him and allocated him the car, irrespective of the fact that he has owned more than a handful of Porsches in the past (including a 991.1 GT3 RS which WAS a car that people had to get allocations for). Don't forget that even James May was allowed by Ferrari to buy the 458 Speciale, despite having owned only a couple of Ferraris prior, all of them used and none of them being special editions. Thank you Richard! One of your best automotive "short stories" - special thanks to you - finally someone - who dares to speak out loudly that it is not the combustion engine being the culprit in the climate debate but the very fuel! Governments trying to ban the combustion engine for ever in favour of electric alternatives have not understood that there are already today carbon-neutral fuels available which, when coming from a circular (ecological) waste-management, do not require a massive investment into new charging-infrastructures (cost- and resource-inefficient) but instead could use existing infrastructure thus preserving planetary resources. By banning the combustion engine, every development within alternative fuels would be choked in its infancy in favour of THE biggest next market to exploit no matter what - electric transportation sector - continuing with mankind's biggest madness: Economic Growth - and the beast will continue to be fed. And do planetary resources finish some day, we still got other planets to exploit, right!?
