Working on a car of this age is going to be something of a trade-off. The body work and chassis will probably test you further than you have been before but, mechanically, this is a fairly straightforward beast. Not a great deal of complex electronic sub-systems to go wrong. It's going to be old school as some elements of this car probably date back to R&D work undertaken in the late 70s! This is going to be a cracking project vehicle.

I picked up sport interior, a m60(4.0L v8) from a 540, 740 or 840, snagged a 5 speed(6 speed out of budget), coilovers, wheels, custom dabbed exhaust and a loooooooot of other bits and ends. I had and absolutely mint '84 635 a few years back, i could not find a decent one in my price range in the U.K so i looked on German Ebay and found one in Austria, it was a bit of an old ball, a Japanese export model but LHD which had been re-imported back to Europe, it looked good on the photos so i pulled the trigger at £2000. Me and a mate jumped on a plane to Stuttgart and took a hire car to Austria, picked up the car and drove it back to blighty, this car really was a mint ball thanks to the Japanese climate and being well cared for, Alpine white with black leater interior, all the engine parts still had shiny cadmium plating and it was still sitting on its original Michelin trx tyres, i sold it when i emigrated from the U.K and a German collector bought it and drove it back to Germany, it went full circle.

For when you get to that point, the coolant bleed screw is at the top front of the thermostat housing (where all the rubber hoses connect), looks like an 8mm bolt. Also when you go to drop out the exhaust the muffler (back box) is really heavy, make sure you have someone else there to help drop it out.
