To be honest, getting dumped was the best thing that ever happened to me years ago. I was determined to become a better person so I went to therapy, got a better job, hit the gym and got a new apartment. It took me awhile to get over that heartbreak but it taught me so much about my standards. I no longer allow anyone to treat me badly. Breakups can sometimes be the catalyst for incredible change.

Me too. It was limerence w/a married man who "wanted to be friends" but constantly showed attraction. But his last d**k move was enough toying w/my emotions for me to say 'peace out' and have been no contact since Feb. I know my value and you do too. We got this, girl!

I have been dumped and ghosted by a man for almost a year. Currently I have created space between us and am proud to say that every day that passes I feel more confident and secure then I have felt in a long time. Biggest mistake we do after getting dump is chasing them or telling them let's fix it. They feel we are obsessed with them and desperate for love. Best is just walk away. Don't say a single word just move on . If he really loves you he will come back within one or two weeks. If not then don't even take them back in your life . Just move on.

I got dumped less than an hour ago. A few days before my birthday. Because I pressed about why he has been distant. He wanted to wait until after New Years to break up with me because he didn't want to stain the holidays. I was in hysterics and now just got home, scrolling, looking for advice. I was in a relationship with this guy for 3 months and we really connected in so many levels. But one day, he told me that he's in a funny headspace and feeling emotionless and needs time to think things through. I respected his decision and let him go. When he took down our pics from social media, I knew I had to move on. What saved me was my faith in God and talking things through with my Mom virtually. I went through feelings of grief, anger, the what-ifs and could've beens. After that, I worked on myself, I got a new job, I got myself a support system of like-minded ladies who helped me through the most difficult parts of the breakup. I know I am destined for greater things, I just need to trust in God's timing, His will and His process. Thanks Mat for everything that you do! 🥰

You can fight for everything you have . You can hold on as long as you can. You can force yourself into mental gymnastics to pick apart signs. You can have your friends read into texts and emails. You can decide that you know what's best for you and right for you. Mostly you can wait forever. What isn't right for you will never remain in your life. There is no job, person or city that you can force to be right for you if it's not, thought you can pretend for a while. You can play games with yourself, you can justify and make ultimatums. You can say I'll try just a little longer and you can make excuses for why things aren't working right now. The truth is what is right for you will come to you and stay with you, and won't stray from you for long. What's leave the path , clear the path . There is nothing you can do to win someone or something that isn't meant to be yours.

I have been dumped after 24 years of marriage, he betrayed me. I started online dating, and had a few "hit and runs" the emotional roller coaster is draining and I've decided to give up. Mat, this video came just at the right time. I got dumped 5 days ago out of nowhere. We were just together a few days before that, cuddling and making holiday plans. I keep blaming myself but you are right, it's not me it's him. If he truly wanted me in his life, he would've fought for our relationship no matter what. Just like how he fought to get me at the beginning of the relationship. If he communicated better and told me about his problems and struggles about our relationship, it could be different. #1 alleviated the pain. Thank you. I was dumped 8 hours ago. My heart is burning but I really did love him with all my heart. I truly gave my all to him. I did everything I could and learned how to love in new ways. I can say that I'm proud of what I learned and acted out. Thank you for a beginning of graceful healing. I’m a recent victim of being dumped. It’s a terrible feeling and I wish it for nobody. I haven’t rested well in over a week and can’t help but to dream of her. I feel both betrayed and destroyed. It lasted a good 7 months, her family loved me and my family her. She broke up with me Sunday, May 7th at 11am. We went out to eat with my parents and friends on Saturday May 6th and I took her home around 11:30pm. We had a great night. It’s crazy to think how she could throw everything away in a matter of 12 hours. I’m trying so hard to bash myself but It hurts man. Better now than years from now I guess. Anyways, thank you.

I’m a man and been dumped. Today actually. It hurts but I’ve experienced similar in the past. Funny thing is I know when the relationship isn’t going well but I can never seem to be the one to leave because I have a tough time saying bye to someone I love so I end up being the one to get dumped. I thought I found the perfect man. I was convinced that God had brought us together. And then not 12 hours after planning our future, he said he couldn't continue a relationship with me so he could take care of his parents, then blocked me. I was devastated. Even before watching this video, I am in the habit of writing letters to myself after memorable times with the person I was with (both good and bad). I acknowledge what I thought went right, what went wrong, and how I felt in those moments. I offer myself encouraging advice on how I should look at the situation, and at the end of every letter I tell myself to "keep moving forward." Something I've kept telling myself that Mat has said many times: "If it's not him, it's someone even better." Thank you, Mat.

What I learned is that NO ONE caused my emotions or pain. I am the only one responsible for my interpretation of what happened. I chose to not keep any negative emotions about anyone and yes, the best is yet to come.

The biggest thing I did after a devasting end to a long term relationship was to let myself grieve and then start asking myself "what" I was most grieving for...him? or the loss of my life as I knew it? The loss of my beautiful mountain home? As I started to examine the losses, I realized that I had the capacity to find my own version of being surrounded by mountains...I could move somewhere new...I could make this an opportunity to discover a new life and adventure on my terms...so I started looking at homes with mountain views (my peace) within a few hours drive of my current home. The home of my dreams...a home a gazillion times better...with long range mountain views and an amazing community...found me!! I moved to a town where I knew no one and I am living my best life. I met the most amazing man and we are going through a few things right now...not sure if we will stay together, but I do know, if we do not, it just means there is something even better out there for me. I feel it in my heart...

I'm glad I did these things when my ex and I broke up last year - even the 3 letters (sort of). I'm surprised that the breakup didn't make me go back to the old me. Just a few months after, I met an amazing guy and I honestly feel like he's the one. I realized that if I didn't go through all that, I wouldn't be able to allow myself into this wonderful relationship. So grateful!

Hi Matt, thanks for all your tube messages. What I did when my boyfriend suddenly broke up with me was create a list of questions to bring me closure and to give me insight on what went wrong. He graciously accepted to answer the questions and I believe that helped me get ready for my next relationship.

You said something so true, the emotional pain is the hardest to carry. I felt so many times like I wanted to die instead of living with the heartbreak pain. I didn't even had so many relationships. Five times I wanted to die after breakup. Do, I didn't try suicide, but I wished I slept and never wake up. I cried and I cried days....hours each day. I lost hope everytime. The emotional pain is the worst.

My partner of 4 years ended our relationship over a text on Valentine's Day morning this year. Before I had even woken up he had erased me and my family from all aspects of his life and canceled our joint bank account. He did this just after I was admitted into hospital after having a miscarriage of our baby, my Aunt died and my grandfather was days away from death. I have never felt so disrespected and neglected in my life. He was a coward and tried to take the easy way out so he didn't have to deal with the consequences of his actions. I hope he learns from this, and I hope the next person in his life gets treated better than he treated me.

Thank you once again Mat! Had this video come up exactly one year ago today I totally would have followed your advice and perhaps my healing would have progressed faster? But one year later I have made it and could not be in a better place! So if it ever happens again I will most certainly be following your advice to the ‘T’. I can take something from this though….and that is by writing the letter to my future love 💕. I know he is not that far away as I am fully ready and open to it now. In answer to your question of what helped me get over this break-up was I realized the difference between loneliness and being alone. Two different things for sure! And also, that I was totally in charge of my destiny. These two things empowered me to move on and be accepting of whomever, whenever…

These steps work magically, to take a good care of my innerchild , forgivibg him and transforming the focus on taking the responsibility of my needs. They lead us to see how love can heal us when we offer it to ourselves respectfully. I've learn them from Dr. Gary's book. Many thanks for suggesting these steps to us.❤

This is so important, so as not to get stuck in life! I hate to think how many years I've wasted on someone in my past. The past is the past, it serves no purpose to fail to enjoy the present moment and/or impact our future.

Thank you so much Matt. I appreciate the 3 letter exercise. I had felt the emotions but got stuck in the negative emotions of betrayal and rejection. Writing the other two letters helped me complete and reframe the experience. I am now experiencing empowered closure and it feels wonderful. Writing a whole new story about the experience shifted how I was holding it. I cannot say thank you enough.

All of the previous videos had me pumped like a girlfriend was cheering me on with "he was a loser/ narcissist/ player".... Then I watched this. It was much easier focusing on his lies and infidelity cause it empowered me and made it easy to live without him, this horrible person who did these horrible things. But reflecting on all the good.... the best of times... the solid rock of strength that kept me alive when I buried my son... ... it's so damn hard to accept the way we were then isn't the way we are now. I feel like I'll never stop loving him. Never stop loving who he was who we were together and never stop grieving for our imagined future, planned out but never to be lived out.

Thank you so much, going thru the feeling, first marriage broke got arthritis n second dump got another health disease. But I did express my emotions. But after a while I started affirming that it’s their loss, n the best is yet to come. Did wish them well in my heart n expressed gratitude. Now affirming everyday to meet the right person. Also affirming that I would meet my right partner and I claim commitment, happiness, love , trust, faith, mutual understanding, romance ,companionship and successful marriage. This really eases out my anxiety n makes me so good about myself. Actually feel it’s was their loss, so just got sympathy for them

I love your videos! Learning so much! My husband died a few months ago. 💞 I cannot find good relationship videos guided towards windows. 😔 Breakup and self-love videos are useful but they do not exactly hit the right button for a widow. I had a wonderful marriage that lasted 17 years. Full of love. Cancer came into our lives, stained our present for 7 years and betrayed our future together. I am 48 and I have a 8 year-old son. Life goes on: I must stay strong for him. But I also have to move forward and I would like to let love into my life again. How do you think I should do it? Please make a video on that! My guy broke up with me out of the blue we we’re together for two months and said that my feelings for him were stronger than his and he wanted a causal relationship so we broke up, it broke my heart I told myself that we wanted different things but then I find out less than week of breaking up with me in a serious relationship he said he is in love and is moving in with her my heart was broken all over again because he told he wanted a causal relationship and now in a he is in a serious one I don’t know why this happened it happened twice to me now they said they don’t want relationship with me but jump into one with someone else I started thinking maybe it me they don’t see me as girlfriend material I have been completely miserable so I am going to apply what learnt in your video Matt because I have tried to move on but can’t seem to get past my misery because I want to move on and believe that there is someone who will love me

I've gotten ghosted after 1 date..!! Then I was dumped in my 2nd relationship that only lasted about a month. I truly didn't understand why. At first, I was kinda sad then I used it as a lesson. That told me that wasn't the one for me. So it was basically a life lesson..!!

So he felt like I was manipulating him into staying which was not the case all I wanted was for him to understand the trauma I've been going through for the last 3 years I promised myself no relationship after what happened to me So to get in a relationship with him was big deal because I wasn't supposed to in the first place I trusted him and we only been dating since April 17th of this year We broke up yesterday He wanted to end it of course I didn't but I let him go anyway because I don't want him to think I'm trying to pressure him into staying The way he put it just made me sound really evil Now I don't know about myself anymore or what to do or how to fix anything but the strangest thing he was the one to ask to be friends And we recently had the discussion of if in the future we I get my life together then he wants to see if we're still single and the future and we still love each other he wants to know if I would consider getting back together with him I am crazy and confused and hurt and kind of angry I don't know what to do or what you would even call this situation

This letter actually works. If you dont say "you did" dont ever place blame it transforms the relationship. I had wrote this type of letter and to an individual they actually changed their mind. It helped them realize their own confused thoughts and it help tremendously

When I heard 4:24-4:46 I felt so empowered!! Yesterday I got dumped by text because of my weight, supposedly, after a romance of 8 weeks. Although there was NEVER any lack of physical attraction, on the contrary, he adored everything about me. I’m a single mom, 48, and I took it seriously and have been ruminating all night and day about the text I will send him back and confront him with the fact that he is a hypocrite and looking for sarcastic words to tell him that he’s not all that either, just feeling hurt and going on and on over it in my mind to cause collateral damage (which he deserves!!!) Now I’m listening to 4:24 -4:46 and thinking about adapting this attitude and growth and mindset and sending him that instead… advice always 🙏 PS English not my native tongue, sorry

tonight i got dumped. i’m a teenage girl this was my first relationship, it was his too. we were each others first everything’s. but we had a lot of problems. i had jealousy problems and i suppose anger problems and he had communication and boundary issues. but i didn’t want to break up. not so suddenly anyway. i knew he was mad at me but i didn’t expect him to give up so easily. usually i will fight for what i want but i didn’t fight for anything i just acted like i didn’t really care because it didn’t feel real. it was only 9 months and i know i’m only young but i am in so much pain and i never realised how horrible i was. i hope to learn from this. and i hope he does to and i hope there will be a future for us maybe? but also i don’t know i don’t think we were all that compatible and i don’t think he was ready for a relationship. so idk. i don’t know what to do now.
