I finally found a term that helps explain my difficulties in developing relationships. I am emotionally immature. Growing up I did not have examples of how to deal with negative emotions that did not involve food. It became my drug of choice since as a kid I did not have access to alcohol or drugs to eliminate my emotional pain. This led to lots of alienation socially. Additionally, I did not have a strong male figure to feel safe with. The dominant male figure while I was growing up was a bully so I have trust issues with men. Please keep sharing your videos so I can continue to learn and grow. Thanks for your spirit, wisdom and compassion to spread love in the world.

@Pioneer7 Don't do like me. Don't let the depression, anxiety and bad moods direct your choices. Stop the carbs first. Gradually will be easiest. Treat carbs like crystal meth and you are an addict. Next, find some self help program to help you learn to control your emotions. Nat's Mom has a good one if you can afford it. May want to first use audio books from the library to get your momentum going. Books about believing in yourself, making positive changes in your life and nediration. Read up on the Keto lifestyle. YOU ARE NOT DOING A DIET. YOU ARE CHANGING YOUR LIFE AND LIFESTYLE. As the carbs go down your mental clarity goes up. If feel yucky while eliminating carbs your electrolytes have dropped. Salt or pickle juice for a quick fix. Dr Ken D Berry has tons of videos on KZbin for a faster way to learn Keto. Dr Robert Cywes is the carb addiction Doc and helps you keep the right focus. Sorry for him his videos are so good you don't need to pay to be his patient to get the help you need. I am 60 and have become so strong I can do this on my own. It is sad to say really, but I will be successful alone. Over 100 lbs lost so far. If you need help ASK FOR IT. The health issues that will develope if you don't are so much worse than any embarrassment or anything else. Get your life back now while you can still have so many decades left to enjoy them...Espicially to help you open up and find great relationships. Mat is on point working to spread Love in the world. You need to Love yourself SO MUCH MORE before you will be open enough to let others in. I wish you all the determination in the world. No one else can do this for you. Definitely kindness, and thoughtfulness. The sweetest thing I think my partner ever did for me will sound silly, but meant the world to me because it was sweet. His family had an old friend visiting, who had a dog with him. My partner knows how much I love dogs, that I will abandon him to pet one if it's in eyesight lol. He took pictures of the visitor's dog, and sent them to me saying "I know you'd like to see this dog, she's beautiful". Such a simple thing, but at that moment he thought of me and sent me those, just because he knew it would make me smile 😃 He has a level of sweetness in him that simply melts my heart and puts a smile on my face that radiates like the sun with happiness, just because he's in my life. It's one of my favourite things about him, among so many other qualities I adore him for. All unique to him. He's an amazing, sweet, kind, thoughtful man, and I'm so lucky and grateful for every day we have together on this earth.

1. Human nature is we want more of what is less. Indulge in him a little at a time then schedule something right after. 2. Trust boundaries _ trust needs to be earned. 3. Sexy ask - dopamine rising ask that he can consider a mission to accomplish. 4. Validate your interest/desire. Balance acknowledging desire for him with my personal boundaries. 5. Eliminate self doubt. You're enough. More than enough. Both of you are valuable.

I've been in a relasionship for about half a year and I struggle with self doubt. Its so hard for me not to feel that way and I'm so unsure of how to get rid of this feeling because I know it will effect my relasionship ib I don't get it under control. So it was nice running into this video because I know that what I'k feeling isn't something I'm the only one going through. I need to try better!

Been over 6 years since I dated. Let's just say I'm clueless. I did learn something from being alone that whole time, I'm still learning what healthy looks like. Met a guy and I'm trying to guard my heart because it has only been through text and we dont meet until next week. Both of us have children and I was waiting until we had a minute without them to meet. Thank you for the advice. I really don't have many to turn to about this.

Hi Mat, this is not the video requesting this comment, can't find the other video. A study I read years ago from a survey of couples who had been married for decades maybe 40 yrs. The number one thing fits with RESPECT is that they "ADORED" each other. It is what I have found, while just working on self love, now see that God has brought this adorable man into my life, because he makes me feel amazing, beautiful and enough. I see him as adorable, brilliant, emotionally mature, plus our values and bendability is there. He has known my daughter in love and her parents, who have been my friends for 30 years. So what do you think us, I am 63 and he is 67 both young at heart. Not in love but open to love.

This video is so informative! It definitely decodes the tangled web of relationships, especially as we get lost in our feelings. Thanks so much, Matt!

Hey Matt, Your videos have had always been a super source of motivation for me. Love your way of explaining each and every facet of relationships. But recently i am going through a really rough patch in my life. Been married 5 months back and to the surprise just got diagnosed with early depression. And the root cause for that depression is no other than my In-laws and their high value expectations from me. I m trying really hard to keep them happy. Thank fully got a supportive husband but the clear fact is my in-laws they don't like me because me and my husband we married on our own terms. And in a country like India almost every woman faces this kind of challenge. So it would be really helpful if you could just help people like me in dealing with all such things through one of your video. Thanks for all the motivational content. Regards, Sushmita Bhardwaj

You are blessed to have someone who married you in spite of other people's opinions, especially his family's opinions. Looks like it's both you and your husband against the world type of love. 😅 you shouldn't pressure yourself too much to be liked by your in laws. Just continue what you're doing but know it will take time maybe. The good thing here is you are a good person to them, you are doing your part.

It took me almost two years to figure this out. He himself was telling me to do the Continue to live my great life. He had one stipulation that I heard loud and clear. He said continue teaching as that gives me joy, play violin and piano, but not once did he mention other men. He often says I don't pay attention well (wonder if I'm ADD) but I heard that one.

The best advice I can think of that I wish i'd thought of when young is to take an accredited basic psychology course. It will help you to understand yourself and what YOU need first, and also help you pick out those who are putting on an act - which most men and women do at first, and some can keep it up until after marriage a couple of years along the line. Still, there will be tells and a basic psychology course will help you spot important things you might otherwise not notice or may dismiss.

THANKS🙏🏽. I used to do this with my friends too. It can come from being alone for too long so, it’s a circle(!). (1.) Meet up with others and/or go out by yourself regularly. (2.) Do daily exercise🏃🏽♀️ and/or meditation🧘🏽♀️. It’s the best way to feel like yourself. Cheers🌤️.

Omg! 😭😭😭😭 That squirrel story used to make me sob as a child because I thought she’d be alone forever! I’m fairly sure Merlin said they mate for life and she’d already chosen him. My friends in HS used to tease me with that story all the time. 🤣 Synchronistic example
