CBS television audience got an unbelievable surprise. Gene Rayburn was professional and classy about it. Great host. Richard Dawson was also a great host on the original Family Feud. He is buried in Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Westwood which is the same cemetery as Marilyn Monroe and now Hugh Hefner

I grew up with this show. It was was anything but wholesome. Everyone acted like they’d had a few cocktails backstage (and they probably did; Gene should have worn a lampshade on his head). A lot of the questions were intentionally borderline tasteless, getting a big roar from the celebs and audience. Sexual innuendo isn’t witty. It’s locker room humor. There were just going for cheap laughs.

There's not one new show on TV that I watch nothing interests me it's all crap. I watch all my stuff on KZbin thank God it's free. Talking about having cocktails backstage? And life was a hell of a lot better back then then it is now in this world the only thing good in this world today is if you are still living and are lucky for that. @kymarcin That's because in Match Game '73 and part of '74, Gene wore a microphone so to make sure we could hear the contestant in the Super Match, he had to use the thick silver mic and then in the fall of '74 to the end, Gene elected to go with the Sony ECM-41 style like what many game show hosts used in the late 70's.
