Meredith Mcrae's answer about the baby question was one of the funniest answers I ever heard on Match Game.
@kevansf2 жыл бұрын
It was hysterical, but she had to have known that there was zero chance of matching the contestant.

Richard scores his 76th H/H match. A second blah week in terms of H/H matches. For the second week in a row, it was all Richard all the time. There was only one successful match the first day of the week and another the last day of the week. Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: TIE: Orson Bean - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 80% (4 wins in 5 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Betty - 50% (15 wins in 30 attempts). TIE: Fannie - 50% (7 wins in 14 attempts). Charles - 45.7% (16 wins in 35 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 35.5% (76 wins in 214 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). Brett - 32.1% (9 wins in 28 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 425, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")

I SURE was hoping that Richard did NOT utter Ivan DIXON, his former co star! He nailed it again, though, with Hoe!!
@brettmiddleton79493 жыл бұрын
The show had been off the air for a while and Dixon wasn't even in the last season, moving on to become a prolific director and producer. So I'm sure Richard knew it was unlikely for this woman to come up with that answer.

"Asp" was the PERFECT Match Game answer. Bra would have been better but if the question has Cleopatra in it then the answer is invariably, "Asp".

@@mehboobkm3728 I suspect he liked to give wrong answers to get more joke time in! It doesn't seem like he did much TV after Match Game. He did appear on the spin off MG Hollywood Squares Hour though. I wonder how his frozen yogurt stand turned out in Hawaii. I know he hS that condition of his left hand where all the fingers are small, but he did become a musician so i guess the hand was usable. He did always hide the hand though.

I know it was a long time ago, but the judge was wrong, where did he go to school? The question was blah blah blah the weird elf snuck into Santa's bedroom and 'blanked' his beard. And the contestant's answer was, He "Cut" Santa's Beard, Tom Bosley said he"Cut it off" and the judge called it a match, but when Richard Dawson said he "Shaved" Santa's beard the judge buzzed his answer as being incorrect. However, the definition of Shave is: to Cut off one's hair with a razor blade, so the judge was wrong and that game should have ended in a tie. I don't know why that bugged me, but it did, silly I know, of course It wasn't the first time the judge was wrong and refused to match an answer.
@LynxSouth3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it was silly. The judgement was incorrect, and an injustice was committed. That is supposed to bother people of good character. Maybe it's reminding you of some other injustice that happened in your life or a loved one's.

I love it when an older, well respected, straight (vs. always cast in overtly comedic roles) actor such as Tom Bosley ventures into the madness, plays as well as he can and has a splendid time, gets laughs and leaves with his dignity (and sanity) intact. This comment also applies to Leslie Nielsen, who at the time had never done comedy. ("Airplane!" was his entree into that world, in 1980, and even in that he played it as if it were a drama.)

My hat is off to Richard Dawson who dropped the British accent for his new homeland.

Brett’s Easter bonnet looks like a fishing hat. Also, this aired on Friday, March 21st, which was not Good Friday. The following Sunday (March 23rd) was Palm Sunday.

Miller-Day, round 1, question A: "Sure, I'll throw this contestant a BONE… oh, wait." (Bzzt!) Super Match, part 1: (if asked before Richard) SIAMESE (if asked after Richard) BOBBSEY Part 2: THE TERRIBLE Miller-Williams, round 1, question B: "Guitar, guitar, guitar, guitar, GUITAR!" (Ding!) (Bonus points to anyone who knows the reference.) Question A: "'We're very worried about Jumbo. He thinks he's a TV ANTENNA.' 'Well, why don't you take him to a vet?' 'We would, but it'd ruin our reception.'" (Bzzt!) Round 2, question B: (lay out)

If that's a guess about the guitar reference, nope. (That is, Dixon may have used the line, for all I know, but I was thinking of a bit in the Jungle Jam album "Cheetah Bonita Goes Solo".)

A slow week again but Richard pulls it out at the last moment giving away 7,100 dollars in a head to head and audience match matches with 14 matches for the regulars.. Tom gave away 500 dollars in an audience match match with 11 matches for the semi regulars.
