There were only 4 H/H matches this week , but 3 were successful: Richard 3/4 (On Thursday the contestant struck out in the audience match) So it was all Richard for the H/H match again this week, meaning no change in stats for anyone else: Patti Deutsch has matched once in her two attempts so far. Patty Duke Astin has been selected once, but didn't match. Scoey hasn't yet had a chance to play the head-to-head. Looking ahead, the panel is full of familiar faces once again next week: --Patti Deutsch extends her stay to a second consecutive week. (Fannie has done that twice in the past, but it's still rare for a semi-regular to do a two-week stretch.) --Orson Bean is back for his tenth week (out of 16 total). He's only played the H/H match 4 times, but he's matched all 4 and currently finds himself at the top of the leader board! --And we haven't seen Mary Ann Mobley for a while (not since episode 440). This will be her sixth week of ten total (always in the #4 seat). Like Orson, she has been chosen to play the head-to-head match 4 times, but has yet to score her first win. In today's action, we start right off with the H/H match earned yesterday by our returning champion who chooses the only celebrity who's played all week. Today's question: "______ Tracy" Another free money day? I suppose there's Spencer Tracy, but I think Dick Tracy is the obvious choice. The champion looks serene. Richard briefly scratches his head before writing, but files his card in the slot without hesitation. The contestant confidently gives her answer, matching me. But it's Richard's answer that counts... ... and Richard scores his 127th H/H match. Our champion quickly wins another game and makes a return trip to the Super Match round, earning a cool $500 in additional prize money, but the head-to-head is put on hold until week (it's rare to fit in two H/H matches in a single show -- 570, 541and 528 were the last three times we've seen that). Quick recap: Of the past 11 H/H matches, Richard has been chosen 9 times, matching 5. The other two attempts were by Brett and Sheldon Leonard, both missing. Richard now has the widest lead over Brett that I can remember, approaching 2 percentage points. They've traded places about 8 or 9 times in the accuracy rankings, but I'm wondering if this is it and Brett will never catch up to him again? Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 580, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")

"The Ace Trucking Company" was an improv, sketch comedy group of the 60s and early 70s. I really don't remember them, though a Web search shows that they appeared a number of times on Johnny Carson and other popular shows of the day. I would say they were just not very memorable, but it seems that enough of the survey audience remembered them to put them on the list. Yet even Patti, who was one of the members of the group, seems surprised by this.

Johnny Carson had several characters that he created. The writers would create skits for him and various recurring members. Carnac, Aunt Blabby, Art Fern and the Teatime Lady were in addition to The Ace Trucking Company.
