Some serious tape troubles at 14:02. Time to get a head cleaner. I really am grateful that this exists here on KZbin tho. Thank You MatchGameProductions.

Who'd have thought that Fannie's dyslexia would lead to an exact match! 😆

Ok, that's strange. If Fannie thought she was writing electrocuted and has dyslexia, how did she know the word she wrote resembled a fake word? This seems set up to me.....

H/H match update: ... Today's action: Our champion needed exactly two wet ballots to win, and Brett and Richard led her to victory with their "Tinkle." Now she prepares for her second Super-Match. Today's (first) audience match question: "Battle of the ________" (My thoughts: Bulge, Sexes, ???) The celebs: Richard (Bulge), Fannie (Sexes), Charles (Gettysberg) The choice: Bulge The answers: Waterloo, Bunker Hill, Bulge Once again, it seems all but certain that our champion will choose Richard again, despite failing to match last time. She does select Richard again. He's missed the last seven questions in a row, so it sure seems like he's due for win, doesn't it? This is his longest bad luck streak in recent memory. He previously missed six in a row from episodes 502 to 507, and of course, it took nine tries before he scored his very first H/H match in episode 58. Reviewing his more recent performance, Richard has matched 16 of his 49 most recent attempts (32.7%). Today's (first) H/H question: "_______ Building" (Yikes. My first thought was that there must be a ton of good answers, and then nothing comes to mind. I suppose you could look at it generically and think of "office building" or "apartment building," or think of specific buildings such as The Empire State Building. A more modern thought would be "team building" or "confidence building," but I'm going to toss those out. I'll go for Empire State.) Roll the video. Richard pauses only briefly to scratch before writing. It looks like a long answer and he seems to dot an "i." Did he think of my answer too? The champion is hard to read. She looks calm, leading me to believe she's got her answer ready. "I can't think of anything but 'Empire State'," she says, receiving a boisterous round of applause. I think we might have a match today... Richard's expression leads me to believe he did match. Indeed! He reveals "Empire State." Richard scores his 215th H/H match. ~~~ Our champion didn't even need a second-round question to clench her third victory. Today's (second) audience match question: "Dennis ________" (My thoughts: the Menace, Day, ??? -- another dreaded name question...) The celebs: Charles (the Menace), Richard (James), Patty (Day) The choice: the Menace The answers: Weaver, Day, The Menace Is there any doubt who she'll pick? Maybe a 1% chance she'll switch to Charles. It's Richard again. He broke his seven-question losing streak earlier today, and reviewing his recent performance, Richard has matched 17 of his 50 most recent attempts (34.0%). Today's (second) H/H question: "Fan _______" (I'll say fan mail. That was big back then. But there's also fan club. More obscure would be fan dance. If it were Charles playing, I might consider that, but with Richard I think it's probably going to be mail or club.) Richard quickly files his answer. The champion says "Dancer." Hmm. I wonder if that would match "dance"? It shouldn't, but they've matched inexact answers in the past, despite Gene's daily disclaimer that it has to be "an exact match." I doubt the question will come up though, as I remain convinced that Richard wrote either mail or club. The audience likewise isn't terribly enthusiastic about the champion's response... Richard claims he hadn't thought of "dancer." He wrote "Mail." (Wow, I'm right again! -- I swear I write all my guesses before seeing the video or the comments.) No match this time. Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Charles - 51.6% (32 wins in 62 attempts). TIE: Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts). TIE: Fannie - 50.0% (13 wins in 26 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 41.8% (28 wins in 67 attempts). Richard - 40.7% (215 wins in 528 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 857, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!") -- Also, note that episode 849 was never produced.
