H/H match update: ... ~~~Today's action: Lee's "Bozuums" may not be proper spelling, but it sure spelled victory number three for our champion. *Today's audience match question: "________Armstrong"* (My thoughts: Neil, Louis, ???) - Another dreaded name question, yuck! The celebs: Richard (Neil), Marcia (Louis), Brett (Jack) The choice: Louis The answers: Jack, Neil, Louis Well, after yesterday's audience match fail, she picks a winning answer today! On her first go, she matched Richard in the H/H, and last time she lost out on her H/H of course, which brings us to now. I have to bet she'll pick Richard again, although I'd much prefer to see Marcia get her second shot at a head-to-head question. Our champion only has eyes for King Richard! Stats: Richard has matched 116 of his 267 most recent attempts (43.4%), 55 of his last 127 attempts (43.3%), 36 of his last 83 attempts (43.4%), and 8 of his past 19 attempts (42.1%). His overall success rate is *42.2%* and this is his 745th attempt so far. For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 34 of his 70 attempts (48.6%), Brett has matched 30 of her 71 attempts (42.3%), and Richard has matched 314 of his 744 attempts (42.2%). Marcia and Lee have each answered one question so far without yet matching, and David Landsberg has not yet answered a H/H question. *Today's H/H question: "Dollar________"* (Bill. Should be an easy match today, or am I forgetting something?) Richard reacts much the same way I did. He has his answer ready about two seconds after Gene finishes the question. I bet he also wrote "Bill." "How about 'Dollar Sign'?" the champion says to Gene, with immediate groans from the audience. Well, it's certainly a valid answer, but I sincerely doubt Richard wrote it. No beating around the bush today, and no surprises: "Bill." No H/H match today. ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts). Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts). Charles - 48.6% (34 wins in 70 attempts). Fannie - 48.4% (15 wins in 31 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 42.3% (30 wins in 71 attempts). Richard - 42.1% (314 wins in 745 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1107, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. *Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. (These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. Note: There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036.)

In Hogan's Heroes (starring Richard Dawson) there was an episode where LeBeau didn't have any mustard and made a bearnaise sauce plaster for Colonel Klink. I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned.

I think Richard would rather FORGET about "Hogan's Heroes". He introduced John Carpenter (the actual killer) to that pervert Bob Crane. Subsequently, he allowed Carpenter to "hide out" at his house, until Carpenter could make his final (albeit temporary) getaway.

I’m surprised by Charles positive attitude about his circus answer; as a survivor of the horrific Hartford circus fire of 1944 (he was 13) Charles reportedly disliked being in large crowds and would always try to be near an exit if possible. What a situation for a teenager to be in!

What on earth is a mustard plaster? I know 'plaster' -- English term for 'Bandaid' -- but 'mustard plaster'? Nope. Doesn't register. Bad question: the 1977 people don't get it, either!

Even in german it's "Senfpflaster", what means the same. It's a very old thing. Every plaster against physical pains works with hot things like pepper or chili.

Well, it was a very DATED question. I think the contestant and even some of the panel didn't even know what it was, given mustard plasters were used more commonly earlier in the century. But you didn't really need to know what it was to come up with the "definitive answer", that being "ketchup". :)

@@TreadwellJay Agree, it is very dated. And ketchup plaster is a dated term too. In many parts of America, that term wasn't used and I haven't heard it for many, many years anywhere.

I thought they must be trying to recycle an old joke. Richard lectured the contestant for not being in on the joke but seriously, I've heard of mustard plaster but never a ketchup plaster. The setting was a drug store so you'd think it would be a real product. It's MG so reality had nothing to do with the answer. But it was an odd ball question.
