Because he's very good as a sub doesn't mean Barkley isn't very good as a starter. Should be and deserves to be starting more, and not just as a six. Watkins stats look good but nearly everything is going through him (not his fault) and he's fluffing a lot of chances atm. Mings for goals? okay...

loosing torres is a hammer blow if mings fitness or form breaks down , but if we get very very lucky and keep that whole defence fit i think mings for someone is a vital change so hopefully we get very very lucky and cash, digne, konsa and mings play more or less every game for in jan and feb

Completely disagree I think it would be crazy to sell him. Duran could easily just leave next season. Unless we win the Champions league which is unlikely I think it will be difficult to keep him. Look at how ready he was to leave this season whose to say he wont next season. Watkins isn't perfect but he is way more than just a tap in merchant and still has plenty to offer the team.

I fancy Leicester tomorrow. Sorry people. Vardy pen and Ayew to pop up with a scrappy tap in. They need the result more and will be set up to stifle us. Looking to pinch it late and pull our trousers down. Worrying that we are relying on an unfit Mings, Ramsey and Onana. Especially off the back of treating Konsa and Watkins so badly. Barkley and Buendia would be getting starts for me now. Maatsen also. Digne cant be getting a new contract, so i think we will allow him to leave on a free in a years time. His wage is too high compared to the output and numbers he gives you. Villa wont pay him that amount again surely? Regarding signings and spending. Top 4 and top 6 clubs shouldnt be buying players valued at £15m-£20m. And we should not be haggling at these price ranges either. I think Spurs signed Son for around these prices 10 years ago, but the market is vastly different now. The names we are being linked to now smell like Rudy Gestede and Libor Kozak. Good on paper, but never capable and not interested. I'd like to be wrong, but inevitably you get what you pay for. Especially when they choose Birmingham over elsewheres. Onana should be used at CB. Let him learn and ply his trade there first. His awareness and first touch look shocking for centre mid. £50m signings should be ready made. Not potential players. Relying on one striker. One winger. and two senior CBs. Is this 2019/20 again lol? Anybody got the numbers for Indiana Vassilev and Jota? Lansbury might be bored and fancy a run out. Also knowing some of our fair weather fairies love to be sat in the warm during the winter. Villa should have punished Duran themselves, for doing the Hammers sign on socials in the summer. He should have been warned when he started kicking the dugout chairs earlier this season, when subbed off. And his petulance at Newcastle was his 3rd strike. MLS hit and hope striker. One swallow doesnt make a summer. The fact we rewarded him with starts over Ollie says it all. Short cuts and cheap moves. You can walk into this team now and have very little to back up the claims, that you deserve the opportunity. I think Vidagany should stay away from responding on socials too. Makes us look amateur when you take the bait and start chatting to fans of other clubs, as a senior rep and person of authority at the club. Cheap and easy response, but will we be in the CL next season? And will we do anything with this opportunity now? Remember not Vidagany nor Monchi nor Emery mentioned PSR until the eve of the CL. But back in June they all knew, sales were going to be enforced and the squad would be weaker because of it. Slowing down the story to maintain the appearance, all was under control. Did we gamble everything on CL? Forgetting the PL pays the wages and is where the majority of our income comes from? Hope the performances and results domestically improve and prove me wrong this month.

Wow! A little negative… some interesting points but don’t think it’s as bad as you make it out. I hope you are wrong but can see some of the concerns you raise… trust in the process is all I can say and think 😅

@@markmattimoe3977 For sure i know its negative. I'd love and hope to be wrong regarding league/domestic cup form. This January is the acid test for sure, considering two other competitions must be accommodated too. Our form will pick up surely and maybe it will be easier to accomplish, if and when CL / FA Cup is done. Onana has only started 2 PL games since we were beaten soundly by Spurs and Liverpool(10 games ago). Watkins was left out of the starting line up for 4 league games in a row, and he was being brought off at 60 minutes prior to that quite often. I think Ramsey started both Spurs and Liverpool games and was left out since. No goals in the league for him as of yet. Like many of our midfield. Effectively no full matches played for two of those players since November. Going into a game against a relegation side, that won the League and FA Cup not so long ago. And won the Championship last season. Mings has just two starts this season? 3 if you include Palace in the Carabao? Konsa has played out of position for large parts at RB and Cash has been constantly in and out of the side(Bogarde started the season in that position). I dont think the CB partnership will be unfamilar with each other now. Fitness and especially match fitness at PL level is the issue. Not forgetting Bailey has been in and out also recently. And Buendia hasnt started for quite some time. Take out Duran, Rogers and Pau(All extremely physical and quite young). This is where my prediction comes from. Tielemans will get rough treatment and mind games used against him too, for leaving LCFC on a free. They will know how to push his buttons. Regarding this transfer window, id rather save the money and just loan 1 or 2 CL level players for cover. Unless there is an absolute bargain to be had. The Olmo/Christensen situation could throw up a sneaky, short term deal worth considering. But if our spending power is reduced, save the funds as much as possible. Duran needs to be reigned in, regarding his discipline. If he is given special treatment because he scores, its a slippery slope when his form drops. Or he gets sent off. Others in the squad will notice preferential treatment. And he has less time served than many other the current squad. And Vidagany should know better and know when to keep quiet. He only increases the pressure upon himself and the playing/coaching squad, the next time they turn out on the pitch. And when we play Newcastle again. January has 7 important games. Pointless getting into banter and you should have more important things to focus upon, in his role approaching the window. It might be Daka or Ndidi who pop up with the difference maker, if Ayew doesnt play. Workrate and resilience win the game tomorrow. And i just havent seen it enough this campaign from Villa. We will see who wants it more! Interesting to see if Barry is picked at all. I think we need somebody healthy and willing to run and penetrate.

In the games Watkins was dropped, Duran was 4 for 4 which says it all really.

@@jimmypopt.v.3037 Very true, we would be in a worse position without his goals. However, we are now in a position of being without him for 3-4 games, because of his suspension. Indiscipline. Those 4 games were against bottom of the league(Southampton), a team that had lost all 5 of its CL fixtures this season(Leipzip), a team that was on a run of 1 win in 12, in all comps( Man City). And we lost one of the 4 games against Nottingham Forrest. Then came the snding off. Few of our midfielders have scored in the league this season. Watkins has over 100 goal contributions for the club. And we would have been back in the Championship if it wasnt for Ollie and his work over the past 4 seasons. We wouldnt be anywhere near the CL without his 32 contributions last season. Levels.
