@@davidaron4927 I got my ears tested and they found I had hearing loss on the high frequencies, low frequency was fine. When you have hearing loss, your ears try to compensate and so you can develop tinnitus. They said I could look at an hearing aid so I did. I tried all the hearing aids ranging from €200 to €4000. I found the €200 as effective as the €4000 and that’s what I bought. I don’t know the name of the one I have but I will have a look and come back to you. All I can say is, when I have it on my tinnitus is gone and I can hear soo much more. It make me soo happy 😊

This is fascinating. Mine is about 10,000+Hz. I was in a hydroplane car crash and hit my head 3 times while violently spinning counterclockwise and bouncing into a guardrail a few times. It affected speech, language, and executive functioning (cognitive) and also caused proprioception and vestibular issues. That was July 10, 2023, and it is now April 3, 2024, and although I'm much better, I'm still recovering from the TBI - which includes this ringing!!! I LOVE being able to share this with family and friends so they can hear it, too (like my Speech/Language Pathologist!). Thank you so much for this!

I've had tinnitus all of my life. I have no memory of not hearing it, so it's never really bothered me. I hear 3 different sounds, but the tonal sound is the loudest for me. The pitch at 8000hz was a very close match. Pretty interesting as I've never had anyone do this test before.

The extremely low tones are so soothing I wish I could have a long low tone App. Even brown noise & delta although helpful are not really low enough for me.

My tinnitus is a cacophony of frequencies. It's difficult to match so many. If you can imagine a warm summer evening beside a pond. The tinnitus is an exact match for every insect and tree frog you hear, complete with the quavers, wavers, and staccatos. It's incredible what you learn to live with .

That’s how mine is multiple pitches with the whirring sound of night bugs with some clicking thrown in, it never stops, it never stops. I took alieve for about a week for arthritis pain in my knees and it made the tinnitus unbearably loud I’ve forgotten what total silence sounds like now. Mine started in the mid seventies working on ventilation fans on SSBN’S.

About 8000Hz for me, but I think there may be two slightly different tones. Had it since childhood. Was in my teens before I tried to describe it to my friends. Back then I used to think it was the literal sound of silence . Took a few more years before I ever heard of tinnitus and realized the sound wasn’t ambient.

I am 65 years old with a bachelors degree in music-I played trumpet throughout high school and college. In your test, I could hear all the tones up to 13kHz, and nothing beyond. However, the tones from 6.5kHz to 7kHz transitioned from the left ear to the right ear, and then back to the left ear by the time it reached 8kHz. The tone that closely matched my constant tinnitus tone was 8kHz. My tones are both airy and piercing at the same time. Constant, never turns off, and louder if I consume alcohol, which I rarely do.

While trying to educate myself about tinnitus, I found your videos, in particular "Match your Tinnitus Frequency" very helpful. Unfortunately, I live in the USA and cannot come to your clinic for consultation. I have been wearing hearing aids for about 15 years and not considered my progressing hearing loss as a particular burden. I am 84. According to the latest audiograms, I am at the stage of severe hearing loss. My tinnitus became gradually noticeable over the last 3-4 months, and was diagnosed by my ENT doctor as the result of recurring sinus infections following my getting Covid-19 in Sept 2022. It is intermittent, and most noticeable when I wake up at night with a roaring variable volume, sounding similar to when being a passenger on an airplane and the pilot keeps changing the engine thrust prior to landing. After a while, it becomes less or not noticeable. Thank you for your excellent videos which will help me when discussing my case with a specialist.

Mine actually went higher than your choices. I could always hear mine going on over the sounds that were playing. It actually vibrates my eardrum at times. Mine tends to go on for awhile then completely stops, it also tends to create a conversation like effect where the sounds vary up and down high and low. Also has more than one frequency at a time, I can hear up to 3 frequencies going on at the same time. Never a boring moment...haha.

Mine was matched sometime after 3000. I have had it all of my life. One thing to note, on 2 occasions in my adult lifetime, my tinnitus completely stopped, for a few seconds, and I experienced complete silence.

Something like this happened to me six month into my unilateral tinnitus after a sudden hearing loss . The audiologist at the time play all different tones and at some point my tinnitus went very low that i could barely hear it for a while. That was more that 3 years ago. Nowadays my tinnitus is multi-tone and bilateral kind of nasty. Finding the pitch of your tinnitus is only useful for those with a clearly mono-tone which is easier to treat.

I found the reason for tinnitus going softer after listening so some pure tones. Its well known as residual inhibition. Residual inhibition (RI) refers to the phenomenon of transient tinnitus loudness suppression after exposure to an acoustic stimulus (Roberts et al., 2008; Terry et al., 1983). It was first described more than 100 years ago by Spaulding (1903) and systematically studied by Feldmann in the 1970s (Feldmann, 1971).

It did slightly temporarily reduce mine as well. I'm trying to listen to hear my frequency, but it disappearing when I'm listening for it makes it a bit difficult. Mine is tonal mainly with occasional changes or additions of buzzing and screeching. And a few other not on the list. A digital computer sound and random pops like in the movies when a grenade goes off and you hear the sound of the character hears temporarily. Good luck to us all 👍

Mine was matched at about 4000htz ...I've suffered since a teenager with standing too close to loud music speakers ...but now 40 years later its definitely there as a continuous high-pitched hissing sound 24/7 I hear it louder if I've been out say in a shopping mall or social setting like a dinner or pub where everyone is talking loudly...I'll get home and the hissing is extra loud and noticeable. I hate it.

Mine to me, sounds like crickets you might hear after dark during the spring or summer, although alternately I also often get a kind of buzzing/ringing sound. I can sometimes hear either of the sounds above other noise around me, especially if the other noise is quiet or muffled

about 10k Hz is what I hear non stop. So anoying. I went to an ENT doctor this week, who said my ears, nose, and throat are all in great shape. Cleaned a tiny bit of wax (made no difference) Ordered a hearing test for symmetry, to rule out anything serious (I've had this for almost 20 years, so I don't think it's anything like a tumor, and I also feel I hear just as well out of both ears) And basically told me that if that comes back ok, I'm just stuck with it. I don't like that answer. There are devices that can mask the frequency, but they are expensive if not prescribed. I guess that's what I was hoping for. He basically told me "nope" Second opinion? Not sure. I'm just done living with this. Most of the time, I just zone it out. But if I ever stop to "listen" to it, I can't make it stop. If that makes any sense. I'd love to know if anyone else has anything to say about all of this.

I have my first ET appointment on June 27th. The place is book up I can't get on sooner. My ears always rings but goes away. However, this time 3 days in a row won't go away. I had to call off from work today. The ringing was so bad caused a have an mirgriane. In addition ringing also feels pressure around my eyes. I ended up having an occipital seizure. I been seizure free until today. When I see the ET doc in June. I just know the ET will say I'm fine nothing is wrong.

You high end people don’t have hearing loss, if you could hear those frequencies still, so that’s not a usual sort of tinnitus and maybe should be investigated for cause. TMJ, neck pathology etc. Could be a chiropractor could fix you, but don’t let them go ‘cracking’ your neck , there’s a risk of vascular tearing when they do that. Talk to them about that and what they intend to do to help you. I got this from KZbin video about non hearing loss tinnitus, and another about the risk of neck cracking, and put it together!

Had my hearing checked. Prefect hearing & I’m 69 so that’s saying something. Could hear it at 8000 hz. Only in my left ear. Changes frequency. On a scale of 1-10, it stays about a 4. Never goes away. When it’s bad, it’s an 11. So loud, it hurts. Even with a fan & sound machine running, it can keep me awake. By the way, thanks for your channel & the info it provides.

Wow this is exactly me too. The same frequency and everything. In my left ear too. Sometimes I can't always tell because it's so loud in my head. The doctor said my ears are perfect too. I'm only 35 so I'm not too thrilled about dealing with this forever. My doctor says that quitting smoking is the only way to resolve it. But it's terrible. It driving me crazy. It never stops.

I find audio books are relaxing and quieten it down, whereas tv must have an underlying frequency that disturbs mine as I start to buzz badly. I use audio books to fall to sleep at night, I have them on very low with airbuds so no wires in the bed and mix that up with crickets at other times.

I heard a strong match across the range from 3.5k to 4.5k. Also, I did not hear anything beyond 8.5k, but long years of rock music and chain saws may be the cause of that. My tinnitus has never bothered me because my brain interprets it as the sound of the woods at night. The same sounds I heard as an early teen listening out my window on hot summer nights. Crickets and katydids on the left, small frogs and unidentified insects to the right, so rather comforting overall. Caused by a very loud (+120db) high-pitched ringing from hitting part of a Mini's suspension with a brass hammer, I also have a crackle, in my left only, when exposed to high-frequency multi-pitch sounds, such as an organ chord.

10 years into this syndrome, had a really hard time the first year or so.. got depressed, lost sleep, lost my mind. As time went on i learned to have some coping mechanisms. 10,000 Hz is close, and once I hear that pitch, the tinnitus reduces significantly. I found that i get a similar experience coming out of the shower (white noise) where I have no tinnitus for any where from 20 minutes to several hours. Also, I tend to hear it on my left side more than right.

Along with the facial paralysis at the same time. I see there are more reports of similar issues. Seems I was quite lucky! But now I have 3 sounds. A middle sound which is like the volume being tuned up and down constantly.

Very interesting! The sound volume drops to almost nothing at 4000Hz then picks back up again before trailing off at 8000Hz, maybe my ears or maybe my headphones. It's hard to tell but I think my tinnitus has a main frequency around that 4000Hz quiet zone. EDIT: Looks like my frequency is 6K to 7K on further exploration.

I do audio work part time. Was at the AES conference in NY last Wed. A monitor engineer for bands mentioned he had someone like that who could not hear about 4k so for his mixing of their in ear monitors for the band he had to increase that frequency to the player. In the real world, a specifically tuned hearing aid to boost that small frequency range can give you more natural hearing in those frequencies.

Tried a technique I picked up from one of your commenters where he mentioned that tensing the jaw muscles provided some relief. I tried it and it was(to me) a significant reduction of loudness if only just during the muscle tension for a brief period. Not sure what it means but it gives me some hope trying to attain some level of control. My frequency seemed to be in the 2000 to 4000 range. Thx for your video. It’s been hell for the past 30 years of living with tinnitus.

David. As I'm sure you're aware, there is no cure for this. There are some folks that believe you can "cancel" the noise you hear through the "interference" principle. Yes, you can add sound to sound and produce silence through this proven method. Problem is, the annoying noise we hear is generated in our brain, and therefore not a real sound. I am sorry it is this way, but when you think it is cancelled in some meaningful permanent way you will be disappointed. I really hope the research into the nerve damage that is probably the root cause of this malady makes some real progress so these millions of sufferers can get some relief. Good luck.

Mine seemed to appear one day when I was 12 or 13. It subsided but has always been there.Being a musician obviously worsened it, but in last two years it has gone ballistic.So loud, I usually have to zone out on couch and hope I fall asleep to get some relief. I was quite intrigued by the fact that sometimes anethesia can trigger it. I had a colonoscopy and gastroscopy and a sigmoidoscopy in last 4 years. I think it worsened after the stomach scope. To anyone suffering, I wish you well and may we all find relief from this. My frequency varies but the constant is around 8000 or higher.

I've had tinnitus my whole life. I thought for a long time, that it was just something everyone heard. Mine sets at around 12k, it goes louder as I get tired or stressed out, the more I drink alcohol the louder it gets. I actually focus on it when meditating, I don't see it as an issue in my life, I think it kinda keeps my head in tune. I embrace it. I am a singer and I see it like a tuning fork in my head. I know it vary a lot from person to person, My mom has severe tinnitus, more like a loud ringing bell, which made her miserable for a long time. it started when she was in her late 30s after being traumatised by constant treats from her ex husband, constantly calling her and continuous death treats. Now she copes with tinnitus a lot better, by accepting it and not focusing on it as a bad thing.

My tinnitus is at somewhere 8000-10000Hz. It's hard to tell exactly because it not just a simple continous high buzzing but also some hissing or something (not my blood pressure or blood flowing, it's clearly a "phantom sound"). By the way my tinnitus doesn't bother me. When I was young kid I thought everybody has that buzzing sound in their heads 😅 Thanks for this video.

I'm the same too. I remember it as a child, I could sit in the car (the quietest place i remember) and that's when I'd hear the ring. And the clock ticking (why did that car have a clock that ticked???) The ring made me wonder while I'd wait for my mum to get to the car. I thought it was just a normal sound.

Somewhere between 3000-5000 Hz is what mine "sounds" like. I've had bad tinnitus issues since coming home from Vietnam in 1969. Mine can be, and usually is, a steady high-pitched tone, but sometimes it "sounds" like I'm in an aviary and there are masses of birds chirping. Both are bothersome. Thanks for the video Matthew. Just a side note, I ordered new Phonak Lumity hearing aids yesterday. They should be here around the first of the year. Hopefully they will be an improvement over the Starkey Evolve AIs I have been using.

I believe I’ve had it for about three years now. I just noticed one day when sitting in my chair and reading that both ears were ringing, and they’ve never stopped. Went to ear doc; had hearing test. Was told I “have some hearing loss in my left ear” which is barely noticeable for me. But…my ears are RINGAAAIING!!😵 what does that - what does that hearing test do for that??!! An-solutely NOTHing!! You might try completely avoiding LED lighting for a time. The conversion to LEDs began in earnest in 2017 and was extensive by 2020. You, like me, may be very susceptible to tinnitus from LED lights.

@@bouxesas2046 The tinnitus caused by LED lights is the result of the 120 hertz ripple frequency in the lights. Computers operate on DC voltage and use a different refresh rate. Typically they have no ripple. Some TVs on the other hand use a 120 hertz screen rate. Worse, older LED TVs adjusted brightness by introducing interlaced black screens. The ripple occurs because of the cheap simple AC to DC power conversion circuits used by the lights. That creates an AC ripple on the DC power at twice the mains frequency. In the U.S. all of North America, a lot of South America, Taiwan, and half of Japan and a few others that is at 120 hz (twice 60); and in Europe and most of the rest of the world that is at 100 hertz (twice 50 hz). Almost all devices use the 452 nm blue emitters used in almost all LED lights. There are rare exceptions, like the SORAA Be Healthy lights, which used 415 nm emitters, and studio lights that usually use 474 nm. All of these except the 415 nm based lights strongly bleach the retina, and strongly disrupt the sleep cycle. The bleaching leads to macular degeneration and blindness. The disruption of the sleep cycle leads to breast, prostate and intestinal cancers, and increased rates of heart disease, diabetes, depression, suicide and other diseases.

Wow. I have had Tinnitus since I was mid way through the US Navy. Didn't really think about it as my brain kind of got used to it. But at nearly 52 years old now, I hear it all the time, particularly in quiter environments. During watching the video, my ability to hear the tone dropped off at about 4500Hz, both ears and I could not hear anything at all above around 7800-8000Hz...interesting way to find your frequency range of Tinnitus...

Very interesting. My tinnitus is the pulsatile "cicada" variety. The recording disappeared just before 8,000 Hz and resumed shortly thereafter. It started disappearing again around 12,000 and things got pretty quiet just before 16,000. It also shifted from side to side a bit after it passed 8,000 Hz before centering again.

My tinnitus is somewhere around the 440 Hz range, which is actually the same pitch as the internationally recognised A440 (or simply A4) pitch. I also occasionally hear the same sound as crickets make and first thought I had one in my ear, but it's again a part of the tinnitus. It does drive me bonkers at times. PS: Somewhere around the 8000 Hz I lose the sound, no matter if I turn the volume to full.

It's really bizzare but I think mine is at the height of my hearing range being around 16,000hz+. I can still hear to 20,000hz too. I always guessed my tinnitus wasn't from hearing loss, but from my jaw. It started happening when my wisdom teeth were coming in. My dentist still says that's not the reason for my tinittus but I think it is. Moving my jaw makes it louder and even quieter sometimes.

I have had my tinnitus for about five years now, it bothered me at first, some days it’s more predominant than others, not so much anymore. It’s 8000 for me but lately, it goes down to 100 for a minute or so then back to high pitch again. They tried to give me some sort of anxiety medication for it, I told them I can deal with it without meds. I sleep fine, I’ve just settled for the fact that I will never be able to sit in silence ever again and pray I don’t ever lose my hearing. I will take tinnitus for the rest of my life over going deaf. Going to be tested for Meniere’s, or rather, a balance test in Jan.

I have permanent 24 hour tinnitus in both ears that I have learned to live with. And it is loud and very noticeable even in places where most people would think the ambient noise would drown out the tinnitus, but no. What I also recently learned is that the tinnitus I have are two different tones layered like two tracks on a recording. For example, in my right ear, I hear a tone of 1800 hz and 1200 hz. While in my left ear it's 1600 hz and 1000 hz. But I tell you, once that wave went past 8000, probably about 12,000 and before 16,000, I felt a sharp needle poke in my cerebellum for a split second. I tried to replicate it but I couldn't trigger it again right away.

The last two. I couldn’t really hear them either. My issue started after a long hot motorcycle ride up in the mountains using a cheap helmet. I was very dehydrated had a very bad headache and just wanted to get home asap but that took about 2 hours. This was in 2005 and I was 52 then. Today in 2024 it has never changed and I’ve learned to live with it. But it is annoying as I’m very sensitive to loud high pitched sounds. It seems like my adrenal glands are shot.. Holy Hostile Hearing, Batman! I'm more than a bit worried, now. My, personal tinitus frequency was 4,000HZ! 😢 NO LIE ! I mean, i knew it had gotten pretty bad, as ive had this condition since the age of 13; when i, stupidly tried to overdose on a bottle of 500 aspirin tablets...in the school bathroom. I was, of course violently ill for days afterward; but, in secret as i couldnt risk letting anyone know what I'd done. I'm, now 57 and the momma & sole guardian/caregiver for my autistic adult son (who's 6'2" & 260lbs). Over the past 17+yrs, i have sustained multiple head traumas as the results of some of the more violent reactions (aka: Behaviors, a term which suggests intentional "bad acting" & so i refuse it). *didnt know you's gonna get an education in autism, did ya?* Anyway, back to topic. I've no doubt, its likely there's damage from the blows to my head ((and several times, direct ear impact)). So, that may be factoring into the severity of my tinitus. Its likely that, yrs before i locked myself in that restroom stall & swallowed all but the few aspirin tablets that i dropped on the floor tiles (yuck! No!), from a bottle of 500...yrs before I'd actually formed my "plan"...in my toddler yrs and onward into my elementary school yrs, i had terrible ear infections.... Constantly! To the point that the glands/lymph nodes in my neck, were permanently swollen to just a bit smaller than the size of a golf ball; and they stayed likd that, well into my mid to late 30s. Again...NO LIES. There'd be no point in my exaggerating any of these facts...as they are so benign in the scope of facts in my life. Truly. And i am hear, seeking advice, answers, a common ground; where theres folks who GET IT! Who understand how completely maddening this condition can be. How utterly intrusive it is, in so many factors of my life's functioning. I've been in 2 car accidents that wreaked havoc on my neck (7fractures in ny neck alone, after one accident). I was shot several times (gut-shot, plus 2x in arm & 2x in leg) then i was kept, hidden for a week before getting medical help. I died twice in the ER and 3x in the initial 14 hour surgery, to save me and stabilize me. The docs had to put me into a coma for 2wks, so my body could heal, without going into shock from all the trauma. Over that next 5yrs, I had some 20+ follow-up surgeries and procedures; all, direct results of the damages done by the shooting incident. I've no doubt, the ptsd/anxiety, stress,etc...in it's wake, have also contributed. Then, (yeah, we're not done yet),we gotta factor in all the coffee i consume; in attempts to stay awake or at least conscious. My Son has anxieties and ptsd from the shooting incident, as well; he was there. His father shot me...and then everyone in his little life, disappeared. He didnt know where. Or why! He was sent thru the 7 levels of hell, in the that foster home. He was abused in nearly every way possible...except, sexually. He spent 3 mnths there, til his special school , alerted the police & he was removed. Rescued from hell & Delivered unto Saints... ❤The Riodeque Family ❤ cared for him, his final mnths in foster care. Thank GOD! They're an incredible family and they treated my son as if he was the only chold in the world. They took such good care of my prescious boy. I couldn't say ENOUGH nice things about them, if i had access to and knowledge of every word, in every dialectical, in all the world. My boy has had no shortage of love and care and reassurance; from me and our extended family and friends and communities, from Cali to Arkansas and Montana and now in Minnesota. Still...20yrs later... he's still spending at least 2-3 nites a week, awake all nite, looking out the window -periodically- as he paces our 450 sq foot apt... waiting to see the lightening of the sky as the sun rises, so he "Knows" its ok to go to sleep. He flips it around at some point during the week & we're sleeping at nite and waking up in the A.M. Spikes in...oh, just so many things...can cause him such distress that for several days he may not sleep more than 10, 15 minutes at a time, In bursts , all day. So, as i said...i drink a aLot of coffee. Yes, i know its the Nemesis of tinitus. The megaphone amplifier. All this 👆 and more , has contributed to the (now)4000HZ tinitus, ive been suffering with for 44 years. My way of dealing with it, is to NOT. I keep one (bluetooth) earbud in one of my ears, at ALL times & keep some tv show, or documentary (my fave genre), or music, etc...on a really low volume. Alll...the...time. Otherwise, i would go completely off the deep end. I know I've not likely gained any fans with this excessively, long-winded comment...but, there's an upside to that. It was really interesting at 8000 Hz the signal faded out never returned. I first discovered I had tinnitus when I did a flying medical for my commercial pilot license at 25 yrs old. During my entire career of 30 years I always had to explain to the doctors ,that I suffered from tinnitus as I would come close to the limits of the audio frequencies.. It was quite stressful each time as I was always concerned I would reach the limit. It has got worse with age and it never gets better. Thanks for your help .

Interesting test which I've never done before. I've had tinnitus for 2O+ years using music ear phones and USAF exposure to jets. My test range is 7,000-8,000hz and varies in intensity from right to left, 4-8/10 range. For now, I'm managing it with a bit of mind over matter. Physical workouts intensifies my tinnitus. I'm 83 years of age in good health and physically fit. The cost for therapy would be prohibitive.

I've got the same frequency tinnitus as you, just a little higher!! in my left ear.. it sort of disappeared but came back the last couple of months. I started getting it in 2020.

I have been in the 4000-8000 range for the past year, some days are bearable some days it's very prominent... But its always present!
