I actually have this fire truck at home. As a kid I removed the hose bed, and I don't remember if the ladder or suction hose was on it at the time or not. I am saddened to learn that replacement parts are unavailable for them. It's a semi-pleasure to see what I might have had if I hadn't been so destructive as a child. Thanks for posting this Marty, you did a great job.

That crack actually makes the window look like it has a post in the middle. I kinda like the effect That sculpt looks rather stunningly detailed, unpainted though. Lights in small cars are always cool and the firetruck is big enough to accommodate that massive battery holder.

For my wife on one birthday a few years ago, I bought her a model of her favorite dream car of all time, an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage V12 in mendip blue (the same car used in the Johnny English films)..... then took her to a "private" showroom to allow her to drive one, she was so happy about that UNTIL, the car dealer refused to take the keys back and I told her it was her car. Good job the Aston Martin workshop where the car was first built and now serviced regularly is only ten miles from us, and they always invite us to their functions and car releases, the present that keeps giving. This Christmas, she is getting a Corgi Hillman Imp in racing green that I have refurbished (your fault Marty !), We had that car when we were first dating 38 years ago. Perhaps she might forgive me for stealing the tweezers, toothbrush and now the other brushes. No chance of her buying my favorite car for me, a corvette sting ray !

I’m the same way. Just stumbled across this through a vague interest in vintage toys and military models. Your videos have this calming zen quality to them and have become my favorite and most effective stress relief. Sent my wife a link and she basically said the same, that she couldn’t stop watching and found the vid very satisfying. Same with my kids who could care less about this kind of thing in general but love watching along with me. I guess you are Australia’s answer to Bob Ross. Btw, this is your best work so far. Both from a technique standpoint and the general ‘Martyness’ of it. Thanks so much!!!!

Love your videos. I use a type of acrylic solvent/glue to repair old watch crystals, it's thinner than water and fills a crack and bonds it. It takes some practice but it works. With a little less work you may be able to at least hide the cracks in the broken windscreens. Maybe something similar would work... Also I use fine brass watch making tweezers these would be good for placing the water set decals. The fine but not sharp points would be great for placement, brass would be less likely to scratch fresh paint, longer, easy to file and adjust, cheap on ebay... Just ideas I wanted to pass along.

I had this one, probably around when it came out. I didn't remember the ladder and hard suction hose but those probably "fell off" early on. I remember that the plastic tarp over the hose bed was pretty flexible. Interesting model. US prototype, down to the bell and Federal Signal Q siren on the front bumper, but then a blue light following UK practice. :) I'm still googling around to see if this model has an actual prototype or if it's a "kitbash" of several different makes. Making the light flash by pushing down the rear was BRILLIANT!
