Hi Marty, thank you for sharing your Matchbox restorations. You have awaken a love for these cars and trucks I enjoyed very much as a young boy in the 1960's. My collection has been lost for many years. Watching your show has brought back so many great memories. I like telling my wife which cars and trucks you have restored that were in my collection. My first Matchbox was the army half track my grandmother gave me in about 1964. Thank you so much for restoring these wonderful memories. Wishing all the best from Dallas, Texas. Robert.

Great job Marty! Reforming and re-drilling the broken hinge on the tipper body is a brilliant repair. I will have to revisit my Matchbox K11 Fordson Tractor and trailer and do the same. I repaired the tipper by glueing a piece of metal next to the broken hinge to put the pivot pin through - but I'm not happy with it as a repair. I was strolling through ebay, when i found the K11 set going for very cheap: tipper body missing off trailer, all tyres missing, and the trailer towing eye missing. Steering wheel bent. Later, a job lot of tipper bodies came up for sale: one of which was the correct one. I got this and sold on the other tipper bodies I did not need. Repro tyres and a towing eye got the set coupled up again and rolling. I used a rivet nail for the hinge too. Carefully straightened the steering wheel, and another Matchbox model was saved. Probably ended up spending more on it, than if I had bought a different K11 set in better condition.

Great work! You give these mass produced toys the value they deserve. The design work you reveal in the tear down is so surprising. These were such desirable, pocketable and inexpensive toys and they survived a hard life, in most cases. It would be fun to remake the little yellow boxes they came in too. The most amazing Lesney Matchbox toys moments included the masses of them donated to Blue Peter appeals. They raised huge sums of money. I feel like collecting some just because they are worthy of huge respect. Thank you for recreating that box fresh moment we got when we tipped our latest bijou toy out of its tiny yellow box and loved it like a friend. Your channel is full of lovely nostalgic surprises.

I always imagine that if a toy were alive, how much it would appreciate being salvaged and brought back to its former glory, and put in a place of honor on a shelf to be appreciated and admired. Conversely I also imagine its silent screams of agony as it's being slowly mutilated to achieve said former glory.
