It was a free shot for Ko. The 6-8 was tied up, so he knew he likely couldn't run the rack. SVB stepped up and couldn't run either, so Ko basically got a free shot at the 9 and almost made it.

That announcer doesn't know what he's talking about. It's obvious on one of the first shots in the first game of the match a safety was the right move to make. What does this announcer say, "Oh, a safety, a little surprising, but ..." and continues with his worthless comment. His voice is quite discernable and I likely will not watch games with him announcing as he only gives me frustration because I know the game of pool.
