I recently got the deal of a lifetime. 40 year heavy truck mechanic sold me everything snap on boxes, welders, tools, probably 300k invested and he sold it to me for half the cost of the bottom box alone without the top box or side lockers. He made the same offer to 2 other guys and they didn't have the cash on hand so when he asked me I had to dig the cash out of my boot and close the deal
@Crazy4nitro2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t get quite that deal. My first job and lead sup went to management and offered me the keys to his box. All craftsman set up for aviation. Nothing special but for less than the price of the box new I had most all I have needed. Over the years bought more and my entire carry box (line box) is Snap-on. Little bit at a time and ALWAYS keep a little cash on tap. 👍🏽

My dealer was nice enough to finance a box for me on a truck account and told me to pay what I could afford i could have paid him 20 dollars a week and got buy but i had the extra money so i payed as much as I could afford some weeks over 100dollars and before I new it the box was paid for over the years I have seen a lot of people not pay their tool truck and the people that do this make it harder for the dealer to be able to help the people that need it so guys pay your dealer and if you can afford it pay extra you will be helping yourself out and your coworkers

Good work Clay. Have you discussed the sale of MATCO from Fortive to Vontier or the lawsuit settlement reached On April 28th, 2022, where Matco Tools agreed to pay more than $15 million to resolve allegations that it misclassified employees as contractors in order to avoid paying its workers, and how those two recent events have affected MATCO Michael and his fellow franchise brethren ? I'm a big advocate for getting low payments and paying a lot at once. I *can* get a car that costs 3 times as much, and those payments be 3 times as much as they are now and pay them off fine, but it doesn't give me a grace of "Oh well I need to fall back onto a lower payment because X, Y, or Z". I think getting the 1/3rd of what I can pay off as a minimum, but paying 3 times as much (IE, 100 a month payment, but I pay 300 instead) is a lot safer, and makes me more comfortable because I can fall back on a lower payment if need be

How the heck is someone with a 60k box only paying 100 per week payment? I Don't mean clay, but every video I've seen that's what mechanics say. Answers are always the same. Always depends on the dealer and the deal you can work out with them. Either every mechanic of all time is lying about their weekly payments or truck dealers can make special payment plans for buyers. It's one of the other, no in-between.
@KoonTrucking9 ай бұрын
First off it isn’t $60k for the box more like $30k but you also have to remember I had a snap on box that was paid for that I sold to get this box when I ordered it. My weekly payment was only $58 a week on the contract. I just chose to pay a lot more weekly (many times $150 a week, or more) to get it paid off so I wouldn’t be eaten alive by interest.

We are reaping what we sowed for the last thirty years with "globalization" and "outsourcing" and being willing to pay far lower prices for all kinds of things, including tools. Now, given the current political climate and the unstable global situation, we are stuck with not making shit in our own country and being at the mercy of "supply chain issues". Who knew????
