Interesting, Welonz, do you recall when Dylan Faden was trapped You can interact with him about 3 or 4 times. I believe on the third occasion, he mentioned he was dreaming, and there was a man who identified himself as Mr. Door. He claimed to exist in all realities simultaneously, that's how he described it. It could be a mere coincidence, but the most plausible explanation is that he's one of the numerous enigmatic entities in the Control universe.

Def not a coincidence. In that same dialogue, he mentions being in "a dark place"

Door is def Hatch from Quantum Break. If you played it and remember how it ended it makes a lot of sense. Even if officially QB isn't 'canon' to this universe, yet.

@@Arhibes Even if Remedy somehow got the ownership of the IP, I hope they don't make it canon to this universe, the whole sciencey time machine and chronon radiation stuff doesn't really fit the supernatural vibes of Alan Wake and Control. The QB stand-in characters are obvious enough in this game and fit the lore of the shared universe much better than they ever could do with the actual QB stuff being canon

665 - The Neighbour of the Beast is a recurring easter egg in Remedy games since Max Payne 1. It was in Control too, when Emily Pope asks Dr. Darling a password, he says 665 and describes it as 'the neighbour of the beast' while doing hand signs showing horns. Emily, of course doesn't find it funny.

It actually appeared multiple times in control. Though I dont quite remember where, I remember finding it weird. The thing is, with Remedy trying to tie all their games together, is it really an easter egg, or are they trying to do something with the number. Honestly, could be anything at this point.

667 was also on Tom Zanes diving suit in AW1. While not the same number ofc, it's also known as the neighbor of the beast

Oh, I remember Dylan Faden said something about meeting Mr. Door in one of his Hiss induced dreams or whatever it was in Control Btw I know it's connected to Quantum Break too but I haven't watched it, as Sam Lake confirmed that it's a standalone (but I guess not anymore?)

There's definitely several references to Quantum Break but they don't own the rights so it's similar to Alex Casey and Max Payne where it's basically the same thing but a different name. Mr Door is probably Hatch from Quantum Break which is basically another word for door.

One day I hope we get to see a side story with Alice in the Dark Place as if Alan failed to save her, using photography instead of writing as the gimmick to try and escape it. I know photography-based games (horror or not) are nothing new, but I think it still have a lot of untapped potential.

Interesting idea. Also FBC could've hired Alice Wake as an assistant to their research staff or offered her a position of a field consultant. She's not a parautilitarian but she has experienced AWE first-hand and must've become sensitive to such things.

Now that I'm pretty sure Welonz is done with the game (spoiler ahead) : - I'm very, very hopeful that, considering Alice is back in the Dark Place too, if AW3 is ever to happen we might finally get a chance to do that. That would allow them to keep using multiple protagonists while offering very unique gameplay to each.

Oh dear, I need to catch up with this let's play, I really enjoyed Weloz's plays of Alan wake and Control, and really like to be able to comment soon after vid is released so there's actually a possibility to engage with people lol

Objects moving by themselves: This was a thing in Control as well, remember? If you came close to objects they would move. I always thought that was because Jesse had some kind of power that objects would feel naturally attracted or repelled, but if Saga/Alan has the same thing I may have to reevaluate that thought. Perhaps it's a supernatural energy that's in the air. You press "Q" because it's common sense to use "Q" for "Quicksave" ;) Many games implement that keybinding, so this is kind of confusing.

Remedy Game Multiverse is real. It's so exciting, it's kinda confirmed now that Max Payne, Alan Wake, Quantum Break and Control universe seems to be intertwined with each other, the possibilities are endless. They may not be able to say it for legal reasons as they don't own the rights to Max Payne and Quantum Break, but it's clear as day that they intended them to be set in the same multiverse.

Ok so I don't know anymore. Was "Return" supposed to bring Alan back or was it "Initiation"? Cause it looks like "Return" might have been taken over by Scratch (crossed out Alan's name). Did Scratch send Alan back (for what?) or did Alan somehow escape (with Saga's help - I guess she opened the overlap) or did Alan manage to write Scratch to send him back and Scratch changed the story according to Alan's will? Did Scratch write "Initiation" in order to trap Alan or did Alan write "Initiation" as a plan B? Does "Initiation" rival "Return" or do they complement each other? This new book is such a curveball...

Every story that Alan writes is supposed to bring him back. Scratch just undoes basically all of them. From what Alan said, he wrote countless stories while being trapped in the dark place, most of which he had forgotten. Initiation and Return are just the latest that we know, which is only because they seemingly worked in getting him out. Had they failed, they'd just be forgotten stories as well. Edit: That all being said, I actually have no idea if one, both, or neither have been written by Alan. I'm not done yet. Its just that IF Alan wrote both, both of them served the purpose to get him out. Scratch is always trying to take over every of Alan's stories to keep him from getting out. (afaik. Maybe shit hits the fan later and Alan didn't write anything?)

I'm loving this but maybe I should put this playthrough on pause and watch your Alan Wake 1 playthrough lol. Maybe control too? And then get back to this one. Idk...

I think I would recommend Alan Wake 1 at least, Control is not super directly related (as of this video but idk about later)

@@Welonz Thanks for the reply! I'll do that then. Control I was actually kind of interested in playing eventually, so I might do that instead, if I find the time. But I know for a fact I'm not going to play Alan Wake 1 so yeah, will definitely watch the playthrough.

Thank the gods there's Welonz to play this kinds of games for us. I'd rather just watch her play this game rather than me, since I'd definitely be panicking most of the time instead of focusing on the story. (⁠;⁠ŏ⁠﹏⁠ŏ⁠)
