Solas's rebellion took place long before the First Blight, upwards of 2,000 years or so prior. When you talked with Solas he said that he imprisoned the Blight with the Evanuris and the Blights we know of were due to the Magisters Sidereal (like Corypheus) who breached the Evanuris's prison and inadvertently released a small fragment of the Blight. So the Chantry story of why the Blights happen is correct (Tevinter Magisters breaching the Fade), but they (and everyone else) were unaware of the Blight existing prior to that or what its true origin was. Every companion has exploration abilities like Bellara's Tinker, but they don't need to be in your party for you to use them.

It's pretty funny how Solas just casually drops "Tevinter magisters breached my prison and released some of the blight" and Rook doesn't immediately go "Wait, WHAT? The Blight came from the prison for Evanuris? Like the Black city, or...WAS ANDRASTE TALKING OUT HER ASS?!" or something like that.

The bottom option with arms crossed is not angry, but "stoic" or "straight". The other bottom option with the fist is the Angry option

yup it's basically inquisition with da2 they just show the tone more even in da:i those three options were generally how you came off but the added is you get more like inquisition and they are more labeled like da2 thumbs up = usually nice/polite mask = usually a joke, sometimes it's not as joke like though in more serious moments, it depends arms crossed= like you said, more stoic kind of 'to the point' though it can come off rude because like with bellara it's more like 'okay i get it, what is next' which is more 'to the point' which CAN seem abrasive but not necessarily crying eye= super sympathetic/sad head with question/explanation marks= baffled/confused fist = MAD and all the others are pretty much either questions/race/class/faction related for example, i'm playing an elven mage in lords of fortune so i get a vallaslin type thing for elf dialogue, a staff for mage dialogue and a kraken/squid type thing for lords of fortune

also tip that you have combinations of both strong and light attacks. you can run than attack, or jump than attack, or dash dash attack.. it will give you different combos :)

Collectibles aren't tied to quests like the rifts in DAI. They're just chests and the wolf/evanuris altars. You're encouraged to collect these for item upgrades and skill/health points, but you definitely don't have to. Most you will find naturally as you progress through the main story anyway. But I definitely prioritized the wolf statues early on. I obsessively filled out my skill tree lol

36:23 Each character will have their unique puzzle interaction and you may find some parts of maps that are inaccessible until you get that character, but once you've recruited them those interactions can simply be done with Solas' dagger that you carry so they don't actually need to be with your party.

I spend so much time in The Crossroads lol. I don't think I started either of the missions Neve sends you on for at least an hour bc I was just wandering around exploring and stuff. Also, my Rook was a Shadow Dragon so its interesting to hear Neve explain what/who they are to your Rook. That conversation was much different for me.

Tip for stagger. Stagger status have duration. You dont have to instantly press e to do a takedown attack. You can attack them while being staggered then do the takedown attack before it ends. It can help do more damage when fighting bosses or any enemies with high hp.

I would say the difference between Solas and the gods is Solas wants to make the elves great again. Whereas Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain want to make Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain great again.

12:41 it's more of a stoic, straight-to-business, cold-calculating option but rarely actually sounds angry so if you like the wording then most of the time Rook won't actually sound pissed off unlike past games, just a bit blunt.

FYI! The two conductors you used the beams for opened a door near the first one you used at the same level. It is very near the first tree person you found with the lore.

Among the things BioWare got right is the encouragement of exploration by, well, not punishing you for exploring. Is the drop to the area below too much? Go ahead and try it anyway. The worst case is you get put right back where you asked yourself the question. Water too deep here? Well, you'll hilariously thrash around for awhile (Why didn't you learn how to swim?), but the result is the same as jumping off the edge of the world. Is this skill useful? Go ahead and put points in it. If it's not what you were hoping for, you can re-spec at no material cost to you. Find yourself in a situation you weren't ready for? Reload from one of the 5 auto-saves it made for you in the last 20 minutes. Hopefully, I've spewed enough to nudge the YT algorithm.

The idea that the mutated Darkspawn we've been seeing are in fact a more primal variation of the Blight is a tidy way of explaining why they look so different from before. It also adds the implication that the horror's we saw in Origin's and 2 was in fact it, in a diluted state.

this game deff plays better with controller. there is also a mod that makes the camera centered on nexus, because rook is very off-center by default that makes the movement mora natural

I think the hairstyle actually originates in one the the official art books. But yeah, also seen in a lot of fan art. I'd have been disappointed if it didn't show up in game!

Yeah it’s originally from concept art for young Solas. I do think the popularity with fans could be why they settled on making it official though.

"I can set a meeting with their bosses," is very much convenient after all, isn't she the one who might just get a contract on her. Nothing personal, just business? And the shadow dragons resistance group? Yech. Are we actually insane here? If they are on the side of dragons, long live the Tevinter empire. Come on. The quality of story-telling remains very poor. Bellara is more of a Georgina La Force... her lines would fit more in Star Trek, but not her aptitude. The caretaker puts the tell into "show, don't tell". Also the controller-keyboard+mouse combination issue. And the crossroads giving only one exit despite trying to convey the sense of it being a hub level. The game looks like a train wreck. Wonder how deep/far it will go.

I have my problems with Veilguard's writing too, but these criticisms are odd. Why would Neve in particular have to worry about having a contract on her? Is it because the assassin she's referring to is called 'Magekiller'? That doesn't mean he hunts all mages. It just means that when the Crows have a contract on someone who's a mage, he gets called in. The Dragon part of 'Shadow Dragons' doesn't literally mean they are for old Tevinter or on the side of dragons. It's called a metaphor, and the 'Shadow' part suggests an alternate vision of what Tevinter could be. And their actions do show whose side they're on, if you actually, ya know, PLAY the game. The Caretaker tells because they're there to be a guide. If you go up to an info booth for directions, you're gonna want more tell than show. And the LaForge - sorry 'LaForce' - reference is just weird. So you're saying 'haha Bellara thinks she's smart but she's not that smart'? 🙄
