Well, we know it wasn’t a striker fired gun such as a Glock because the gun going off cycles the slides and resets the trigger. So it wouldn’t go “click” 3 times. Same with any single action gun. So it had to be a double action of some sort like a beretta or revolver If it was going “click”, the hammer was dropping. So he either didn’t chamber a round, or the firing pin was broken, or a round with a hard primer/ weak hammer spring. It happens.
