Good enough. The discovery of status scaling with Arcane weapons are worthy of further exploration. Could these weapons surpass the other status effects? Sure Bleed probably won’t see the best option, but will these method surpass the frost hatchet? Or dual Scarlet rot weapons like the straight sword or Erdtree Avatar rotten staff?

It's not necessarily a discovery lol. But you are right about there being much more to figure out. Not enough people are being creative in the Elden Ring PVP meta right now because of Bleed (ROB) and Bloodhound Step. If it was the DS2 PVP community there would have been tons of Saints roaming around already. Imo you can't really call a status effect bad until you've made a whole playthrough and character that's build revolves solely around it. If you limit yourself to primarily focusing on those kinds of effects and weaponry/items that complement it. You'll be able to see their strengths and weaknesses much more clearly than others. When you do things like this you come up with more innovative ways to utilize and improve what you have. Like the uploader did here.

"This is likely a bug due to the developers cutting corners when programming the hitboxes" As a game dev I can provide some insight here, and as a game dev I can say it's incredibly unlikely it has anything to do with hitboxes. Reasoning: To my knowledge it's impossible to phantom hit an offline enemy (such as Varre) so hitboxes have nothing to do with it. The reason this happens is because of Peer to Peer networking. The connection between 2 players is divided by 3 servers, the Host, the Visitor, and the Receiver. (Not what they're called in the profession, but terminology isn't important now) The Host and the Visitor send information to the Receiver which then updates both player's screens. The reason phantom hits exist is because: If the Host lands a hit on their screen, it needs confirmation that the Visitor was also hit on their screen before the Receiver will update both players. BUT, if the Host applies a status effect, the Receiver only needs confirmation that the Host hit to update the Visitor as well. The reason as to why they chose this output is a different and longer discussion.

The youtuber here is just ignorant of things said by fromsoft in the past , the only reason status effects still applie and allways have is that to combat lag rolls dont negate status same effect in pools of status since demon souls .

@@Chevalier_knight room temp IQ take here bud, the phantom hitboxes work OFFLINE as well. Regular enemies like dogs or soldiers will have phantom hitboxes if you kill them but keep attacking. You assume i am only referring to the online portion which is wrong because it can happen OFFLINE, i am also a game dev as well and one thing ive noticed is that if your character dies OFFLINE to someone who is hitting you with a weapon that has status build up, that status will keep building up even when you are dead, the lingering hitbox is a result of your character being in a “dead” state but not disabling the hitbox from allowing status effects to be built up. im well aware of what latency is but this issue clearly still happens in places with none.

I always use sporific grease just cause the purple aesthetic, then I started thinking I could make use of it, I heard about the arcane scaling with the ripple weapons but never found confirmation that the scaling would actually enhance the effectiveness of sleep grease, this video confirmed everything I needed to know, now to respec again.

By far my favorite build has been a light equip load Ripple Halberd character- since it's pure physical damage, the Blue Dancer Talisman works pretty well with it, and especially now that light rolling is super fast!
