I spent 3 years trying to find this camera for under 300 dollars, and I just couldn't. I gave up, and finally bought a refurbished one for 600 dollars. And here you find one for 100. How infuriating is that. I looked everywhere I swear! But apparently not good enough. Still very happy to have it though!!! Just got it last weekend and it's a beauty

So much joy watching this video and yes, producing something people can feel is so gratifying:) too bad technology was designed to frustrate us with the insane, this is better, no that's better, no wait, forget that, this is the bestest! I love fullframe Nikons but I dumped them for Fuji, so I can have that film feeling with the tactile knobs etc... Photography has also kept me sane, while many around us all are completely insane & bamboozled with tech! 😁 I know I wrote alot but wtf! 😁

here are some tips: buy the Polaroid frog tongue for the SX70, means you won't have to shield the film when it comes out of the camera, get the Polaroid carry case for the SX70 (its made to be tall enough for the 680), go and shoot it as much as possible because these cameras are so much fun

You know it doesn’t really hurt the film being exposed to light, it is protected by the turquoise opacifier. Just don’t leave it developing in direct sunlight.

I agree with the frog tongue, but yYou can also use the ejected dark slide if necessary. Open the loading gate, push-in dark slide slide over the top roller far as possible, and close the loading gate. When you take the photo, it will emerge under the dark like, protecting the photo from the light. Grab the photo and dark slide together and put the developing frame in your pocket (or other shaded spaces. Voila!

The SLR 680 is very versatile because of the flash and sonar, but I honestly prefer sometimes the Alpha version. It’s more compact and easy to carry, and it’s much better constructed than the 680. I still love my 680, though. I’m working on an internal battery conversion for it, so I can use I-Type film and have even more film choices.

I love instant film, i find it such an interesting medium to work with. i have a 670 AF, and I was always torn between the ease of use and the lack of "customiseability" (with the focus especially). And i must say you hooked me haha i minted my own SLR 680 last weekend, not as good a deal as you but a good fraction of what I would have paid for on ebay. An you're right, it's great, i am so excited to use it. (also shoutout to you for giving the techniques to get these cameras at a decent price, you are a legend)

I kept a few polaroid cameras and was into analog photography many years ago. But i stop because i couldnt justify the pricing and longevity of the film. It was a new formula with lesser exposure film and up to this day i dont think the company found a solution for the shots to be permanent. Also my pet peeve seeing people shaking their film when it is not a peel apart film.

Polaroid has sales and also has a loyalty program… points add up from your film purchases that may be used for film or accessories. Polaroid does offer better prices when you can afford buying 5 pack price(getting a pack free compared to buying packs separately) I have images from the late 1970’s that have kept their saturation because I have always used archival glassine sleeves for my Polaroids; also using archival boxes. I live in a humid climate; it truly helps keep the integrity of the Polaroid work. Unfortunately the only Color Photography that is archival is the Dye-Transfer method( a silk screen with archival ink on cotton paper procedure) That is how Robert Mapplethorpe created his Color Flower series. Look up Eliot Porter; he is considered the master of the Dye-Transfer Method. Have a wonderful day:)🙏🕊💕

A price of $400 to $600 is not at all ridiculous. It cost around $400 40 years ago and to make this camera today and sell it for a profit would likely cost several thousand dollars. Few were made as they were issued as they were primarily made for professional photographers that wanted to preview a shot. Professional photographers were primarily using a instant film back to use Fuji instant film. It was much cheaper than Polaroid. As time goes by, the SLR-680's will only become more and more expensive, like a Hasselblad X-Pan. Right now, people are buying up the SX-70s because there is finally film for them again. As more people explore this medium, eventually they will discover the 680 and the much rarer, made for 1 year only, 690.

I'm glad that you got back into Polaroids but the way you opened the camera hurt my soul. You should just sharply tug on the ribbed section of the viewfinder, and it should open all the way with one smooth motion. Repeatedly opening it incorrectly can actually cause damage to your camera.

It's a shame that now Digital photography is so ubiquitous, that apart from improvements in resolution or, design, where it seems aesthetics are from the past; there just isn't the requirement for ingenuity any more. There is no need to try and get the best from something, knowing it's limitations. Or, Improving something, that's more than just a bigger image sensor.

@pilsplease7561 3 жыл бұрын
film resolution for standard film not instant is actually better than just about any digital camera today, 35mm is the exception but in 120 or large format digital of any resolution is inferior, film also has much wider dynamic range than just about any camera short of the very best cinema cameras which just about touch the film dynamic range but the colors are never as good as film is more sensitive to light changes than sensors.
