And they forget that Elden Ring is in fact the easiest fromsoft Souls Game due to all the new and improved mechanics and its open world that allows for pretty easy ways to overcome bosses (or straight up skip them).

It was my first souls like and I found it hard as expected, but then when I went to dark souls (1 and 3) i expected it to be harder but they were painfully easy compared to elden ring. Like kinda anti climax. Just my experience though

I've played fromsoftware's games so many times, dark souls 2 in particular but i think i actually beat this boss just once 😂😂😂 nah i'm not ever doing it again. They can’t spawn on the bridge or beyond so it had to be an old one. That or it’s incredibly rare as I’ve tested a lot of stuff in the zone.

One came in to the boss room after I had defeated those grisly murder cats. It almost killed me because I was temporarily stunned to see it. I would have stopped playing there and then if it did. DS2 didn't have to be this weird.

There are a lot of mechanics that intersect in this area. There are basically 3 reindeer spawning zones. Each zone has a several possible spawn points. If you are out in the cold when the blizzard starts it will spawn a reindeer in the spawn point closest to you. What zone you are in determines the maximum amount of reindeer that will be spawned at a time, as well as how many spawn per blizzard. You can eventually despawn a zone, but it takes way more than 12 kills. While inside a shelter, or outside fairly close to a shelter, reindeer do not spawn when the blizzard starts. So as you guessed pretty early, the idea is to rush from shelter to shelter and then fight the reindeer there so more do not spawn. The Sun is always visible so you can use that as a fixed reference point to navigate during the storm. If you decide to try this area again, I would recommend upgrading a great hammer with a pancake 2-handed R2 like a Dragon tooth or a Great Club. The reindeer cannot hit you if it is constantly knocked to the ground.

Remember, more summons in the boss arena means larger boss health, you were taking more chunks off on your own, if you can just be patient with your timing on when to dodge, hit or heal. You could dismiss your summons before you enter the room and just use them to distract the horses. Alternatively you could use a shield with magic defense...

Also, if you complete the quest of the Head in the foggy Shaded Woods (killing his body behind a stone statue next to where you found the manscorpion in the Shaded Ruins), he is a 3rd nice and tanky summon for the Frigid Outskirts.

So in case you forget to do so, to unlock the true ending, you need to find all 4 crowns and show them to Vendrick. You found the three from the dlc and the 4th is in the base game after you kill the hollow naked Vendrick. I don’t know if you want me to tell you where it exactly is or not, so as a hint, think of any fancy doors you haven’t opened.

i know this is an old comment but to get the second ending you have to kill vendrick, the crowns dont affect the ending but they do make you immune to curse, making nashadra even easier

There's a Pharroh's stone area that gives free healing, you can use it to heal those phantoms back up. The basic strat is to go slowly and clear all the enemies, stop in the healing area to top yourself off and heal your phantoms, then make a bee-line for the boss. The tigers are Dark type, which means they are weak to fire or holy, iirc. Other than that, you just have to time your dodges and dump as much damage as you can during those brief openings. Good luck either way!

I can give you advice. Before you enter arena, vanquish the phantoms. They are making bosses more durable. And without them you delays the incoming second tiger. You were dealing good damage to tigers without help 😉. Edit: I believe you can do this.

Strat 1: Bring in phantoms to distract. Try to kill tiger 1 before phantoms die. Strat 2: Don't bring phantoms. Try to burst down tiger 1 as much as possible. Either is fine. Or you can go with strat 3 and bring in mostly dead phantoms to boost the boss and then die immediately. Max respect. =P

If I remember right Feeva can use unlimited healing, so by intentionally getting low by equipping symbol of avarice she can heal the party to full, I think. But it only works if you're in the ruins where the horses don't spawn so you can take your time.

@@UltraRedPotato her healing was very handy. I took the whole squad of O'Hara, Feeva and Vengarl. I dont remember if either of them died. I didnt care making the bosses durable. Both bosses were distracted by the two of em while Feeva healed and i could tank some damage. With this boss i didnt really seek to heal my pride by soloing them

If you want , you can kill all enemies in one run. They respawn certain amount of times. Just run back and forth with NPC summons and kill deers until they deplete their respawns. Unlike with other enemies you can do this without sitting at bonfire. Won't have to stress about runback afterwards.

Definitely use the summons. This area was meant for co-op. The reindeer only spawn during the blizzard. The best strategy is to go from building to building. When its clear, sprint as fast as possible to the next building. When the blizzard comes, hunker down a bit to fight the reindeers. I re-specced for this fight. Havel's armor with Red Iron Twinblade

I'll probably say this in the next episode too, but since you're nearing the end, what I usually do is after the final boss, go through every item description in your inventory...It's probably the most comprehensive way to get the lore, once you've finished the game you can put the missing pieces together, rather than trying to read and remember as you pick stuff up...

You can summon 3 NPC in this area. You get 3rd one if you kill Vengarl's (head merchant) body. His body is at Shaded Ruins near the scorpion guy, but you'll need Branch of Yore for that. Talk to the head afterwards.

I've played through DS2 multiple times, and every time I get to this double-boss, I exploit DS2's despawning mechanic. I invest a couple of hours into just killing the Pickachu-ponies until they despawn and and nothing interrupts my boss-run.

Frigid Outskirts was probably the only area I genocided in anger so utterly that not a single reindeer was left respawning between me and the bosses. Edit: I'd say soloing the Pets is easier than with summons. (If I remember right, having summons boosts bosses' stats and Zallen joins the fight more quickly.)

If you want to do some other things before you finish the game, I think you missed a pretty cool item in the second dlc. From the foyer bonfire you have to get out the room (the way you came in the first time) then over another big chain to an isolated tower. On the bottom Level of that tower, there’s a cool Item with a connection to ds1. If you get it, try it in your left hand.

I feel your pain. When I did it, I despawned all of the reindeer. Even then, the runback was soooo long. At least I eventually found out that it's a co-op area, so I can pretend it doesn't exist 😅 frankly I think those areas damaged the reputation of the game more than anything else.

I kinda like the idea of the level designer being forced to play Frigid Outskirts everytime someone beats the boss fight. A prison of their own design... It's just a dream I have.

For anyone curious I just found out that the snow comes and goes. Wait until it clears and you can see a structure then run to it. Wait again until you can see the next one, run to it. It’s much easier to spot when the snow clears for awhile.

I’m so disappointed in you Mat! Not for giving up but for using the Pursuer Soul. That’s such a great weapon you could have traded it for. You need to check out some of the boss weapons’. I especially like the Pursuer sword, the Fune Knight sword (probably my fave in DS2), the smelter demon swords (yes both smelter demons have their own sword, and plenty of other boss weapons.

The tigers have a weakness to fire, and the frozen reindeer stagger easily with big blunt weapons. The stone ring will help to make them stagger even more often.

I've later learnt that just like most of the enemies, even the deer will eventually stop respawning if you kill them enough times and some other tricks. I just did not want to return... ever. Pro tip: Stash all of your non-upgraded weapons for fast switching. You can do even a mid parry switch on keyboard manually (you could also use macros, but I'm lazy to set them up + it feels good).

Just don’t let this optional area (or the blue smelter, or gank squad) taint your overall love for the DLCs. They were made specifically so you and your friends would have a super challenging run for your money in the DLCs which was a really cool thing, it just hurts the feelings of dark souls veterans who haven’t had human contact since Artorias of the abyss dlc came out lol.

The best strategy tackling the runback is grinding the enemies until they stop spawning. Considerably this would take some time, but ideally you'd be doing that than aiming for the bosses, and reset and spend your souls. They won't spawn upon structures by a few feet, and the spawn area version of that is unusually generous, so it IS possible to avoid a first horse.

Maybe is too late for this... but the more summons you call, bigger is the boss defense. You can make a lot of more damage going on your own than going with summons. Actually you was very close to defeat one of that tigers when you fought alone. I hope waching you beating this two someday.

Little tips: use a weapon that has great poise damage e.g Ultra Greatsword and then you can easily kill those Reindeer by stunlocking them. You can also use Stone Ring to increase poise damage. Also do not use summons or at least use the black separation crystal to send them back home before you enter the boss gate. Summons will make the boss a LOT tougher. I can see that his closest attempt to defeat the boss was when all of his summons were dead and then he entered the fog gate alone. You can see his sword deals 300+ damage. But when he use the summons it reduced into 100+. Also by using summon, Zallen will wake up earlier (this is the worst part). So the best way is to use the summons but then after you have reached the fog gate, send them home using black separation crystal and then go fight the boss alone. Other than that, great attempts man, i respect your endurance and patience throughout the area. You struggle at Frigid Outskirts yet i myself struggle at Iron Passage. Guess the torture is different for each people 😂.

If I'm not wrong the way it works is that during the storm the shithorses appear, so the concept is to run to the structures hide during storms and then run, fight shithorses then hide again, until u rage quit and move on :v (or like is intended to be played invite real people xD)

Good advice, if you are going to summon, keep them alive...I find the aggro split and the misc. stats/skills some summons have outweigh the boss health boost...though O'Harrah and Feeva are pretty squishy, too bad he didn't complete Vengarl's quest before going there, he takes hits like a champ...especially when he wanders into Feeva's healing spells...

Aww nice tries Mati, i think you could totally have done it, you just needed to take it slow killing the stupid reindeers one at a time, you also NEEDED that third summon, that dude was acting like a tank for me, also i stacked on life gems so i wouldn't waste the flasks and leave them for the boss, and thanks to all that i was able to do it in my second try. Also if you do it again with your great sword, i recommend you to put on the Bracing Knuckle Ring and have some repair powders with you. Its doable but you need to take it slow so you dont do that horrible run bacl anymore, and if you decided to forget completely about this, well, nobody would blame you 😂
