Fighting Poppa Vendrick & The Darklurkers | Dark Souls 2

So, the cutscene with Vendrick at the end, with babyface lifting the crown and then "Heat radiates from the ancient crowns", signifies that you've gained the best gift this game could possibly give the player; when you're wearing any one of the 4 crowns (3 DLC crowns or Vendrick's/the King's Crown), you are now *fully immune to curse* . That means that you don't need human effigies to become human again if you die, and anything that builds up curse status will no longer do anything to you, provided you're wearing one of the crowns. Especially useful imo for things that require human effigies, e.g. attempting Darklurker lmao! There really isn't much else to do except see the endgame... It may not be the fan favourite souls game, but absolutely worth playing as a worthy entry into the series. I'll be sad to see it go, but damn am I excited for DS3. It has some of the most fun and meaningful bosses FromSoft have ever made (and I'm sure Mati will be glad to know, more difficult than DS2!) and some incredible music to go with them too. It really is a beautiful send-off to the trilogy as a whole.

As is a common occurrence in Dark Souls, having a goal to focus on can help prevent your mind from going hollow. Upon reaching his goal of being rich, Maughlin *immediately* forgets his home of Volgen. A bittersweet triumph on his part.

This invader, Maldron, is the same NPC that was masquerading as a White Phantom in the area with all the Ice Hedgehogs in the Ivory King DLC and then backstabbed you. I think he must have fallen off the ledge and died of gravity when you went back onto the chain.

There's no singing in the Shrine of Amana because you killed the boss there and it was the one singing. Now that you've finished all of Vendrick's dialogue wearing any of the 4 crowns will prevent you from hollowing when you die. Also each crown has a special effect, the only one I remember is that Iron King's gives back a spell cast or two every so often.

It is a pretty rare attack, a Curse Orb, that most often triggers if you back up too far from him. If he hits you with it you get cursed which depletes 5% max HP like any other source of curse.

Me either. I just recently found out that the covetous demon has an attack that can completely unequip your armour and weapons, but i'd never seen that in any of my playthroughs either lol

@@andyquin5386 Yep, it's a grab attack, but because you have little incentive to attack Covetous from the front, it's a rare occurrence. I wish his blubber was like the Adjudicator's from Demon's Souls. You can only hurt it at spots on it's body that have open wounds, otherwise the blow bounces off. Only being able to attack him in the face or on his soft under-belly, mid-roll would have made that a more challenging fight.

My favorite counter to Maldron the Assassin is to make him run downstairs, and then pop a Seed of a Tree of Giants. It makes NPC enemies hostile to invaders.

That cursed tower took me awhile to do, too. Maldron the Assassin is the same invader who screws with you in Eleum Loyce, when you open that big gate and he backstabs you then chases around. There's actually a third tower besides that cursed one, on the opposite side of Brume Tower via another chain. I don't remember what's in it though unfortunately. Cool level though in general.

If you destroy the idol in the tower that gets rid of the curse down there in the tower so not only does that prevent you from being cursed anymore down there but also makes the floating knight guys killable. Also the regular knights are weaker when they don't have the ash aura around them so probably a good idea to pop that idol, this is for those that did not know of course

When you do get around to beating the game, please please please try a couple post-game things before moving on: When you beat the final boss, don't begin ng+, just return to the bonfire. Then fast travel to the King's Gate bonfire in Drangleic Castle. Use a Bonfire Ascetic on it and head up the ladder to the floor above. You want to go to the throne room with the two empty chairs, up the stairs near the main castle entrance, just passed Chancellor Wellager (the ghost npc) The true Dark Souls II begins in that throne room.

Tip: when Maldron runs down to the bottom of the tower, you can pop a Seed of Tree Giants to aggro the other enemies on him. The giant tree in Soldier’s Rest bonfire always produces one of those seeds every after few invasions you encounter

We do not know if he really was left-handed. There is a good theory that suggests Artorias was never actually left-handed. Is it impossible? No, but there are some clues that would say otherwise, especially when we know how FROM likes to put the little details in armour, shields etc.

Fighting the Darklurker was the most stressful experience, as you can beat bosses without the maximum hp bar no problem, but every retry with that boss consumes effigies. =/

You get bonfire esthetics on your way to the boss though, which you can then use to get more human effigies. For example, the first bonfire in the forest of the lost giants, in the cave before you get to this bonfire from majula, there’s a chest with five human effigies. It respawns with bonfire esthetic…
