Blocking/parrying is your best friend when it comes to smaller enemies, you can block pretty much anything except Medusa’s gaze. Those guys who go underground and spin up and down with that attack can be blocked fully you just have to time it right. Bigger enemies require the rolling.

God, this brings back so much memories. Absolutely brilliant for a first playthrough. Just a quick side note, GOW 2005 isn't the first in the timeline, technically, though if you are looking to play all the games in order of release, it goes: GOW 2005 GOW 2 GOW Betrayal (Optional Java game) GOW Chains of Olympus (PSP Game; I think it's found in the collection, God of War Saga) GOW 3 GOW Ghost of Sparta (another PSP game also ported to mainline consoles through the Saga collection) GOW Ascension GOW A Call from the Wilds (Optional Facebook Messenger prequel for GOW 2018; not really much action going here) GOW (2018) GOW Ragnarok + Valhalla DLC I'd put in the series's Chronology, but someone already did that in the comments lmao. If you're planning on doing DMC, there are 6 full releases: DMC DMC 2 DMC 3 DMC 4 DmC: Devil May Cry DMC 5 DmC: Devil May Cry is a reboot of the franchise and has a somewhat different gameplay than the rest of the series, but it's an okay title - it just has bad story. DMC 2 is the worst game in the series in terms of gameplay since you can turn your brain off and just use your guns for the entirety of the game, but it's still canon so... There is a Definitive Edition mod available for the PC release that kinda solves that issue by making a lot of gameplay overhauls, so I highly recommend downloading the HD Collection on the PC to have that experience (DMC HD Collection has DMC 1, 2, and 3). If you're planning on playing the reboot, DmC, best to play it on console and play the Definitive Edition of the game because that's way better than the PC port. Other than those two, play 4's and 5's Special Edition on consoles To scale up the difficulty, you can also try the Bayonetta series which is also created by the same guy who made the original DMC. It's pretty straightforward; it has only 4 games, 3 of which are locked as Nintendo-exclusives. Bayonetta Bayonetta 2 (Wii) Bayonetta 3 (Switch) Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon (Switch) As a bonus, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance! It's developed by the same team that created Bayonetta, Platinum Games. But anyway, that's a very long journey. Very long. We'll tag along for this one first.

God of War: Ascension 2. God of War: Chains of Olympus 3. God of War (2005) 4. God of War: Ghost of Sparta 5. God of War 2 6. God of War 3 (Remastered) 7. God of War (2018's Reboot) 8. God of War Ragnarök Take notes, if you wanna play it in a chronological order. Also, please, do consider playing Outer Wilds after finishing the God of War series. It is a masterpiece of a game, can be short or long depending on someone's experience. It is indeed a one time experience, and I'm sure you'd enjoy it, and you'd love it. Also comes with lots of crying, but it's why this game, which is also a lot compared to the FromSoft games, is such a masterpiece. With that said, have a good time! And I really hope you'll read this comment. I'm already looking forward to the next episode lol

5:30 Devil May Cry? Devil May Cry?! DEVIL MAY CRY?!?!?! I freaking love DMC. It’s one of my all time favorite gaming franchises, ever. You will LOVE it. Dante is such a fun character! You can either play the games in order, or you can play them chronologically (3, 1, 2, 4, 5), but no matter what order you play them in you can skip 2 entirely. Most people, including Capcom themselves, pretend it doesn’t exist. XD

41:06 you're right, those hallways are basically loading screens but without actually interrupting gameplay, that's something the 2018 game did that got a lot of praise when it got released, even though the older games already used those loading screens, i guess devs just forgot they could do that in games

Small tip for you. Sometimes pressing R2 on pictures or items and carvings on the wall will give you messages or info. The R2 prompt doesn’t always show on these so I thought I’d give you a heads up. Can’t wait to watch you play these all the way through.

My God! It takes you eternity to solve one puzzle. I'm in the scene where you have to use the Soldiers with shields statues to block the openings to the bat's hives to stop them from respawning so you can cross the roof, and i can't help but laugh. They gave you a hint by showing you the hole, that means, you have to solve a problem in that area before you can move on. Having you as a friend would be fun and hilarious. 😂😂😂

Loving these vids Mati, I second the call for Devil May Cry (5 in particular). Also gonna shoot a recommendation at Final Fantasy 16. It's got some of the sickest boss fights I've ever played, a stellar soundtrack, and a story I think you'd really enjoy. The gameplay is very God of War/DMC, plus you don't need to know anything about the series beforehand

The arm-bladed Wraiths are annoying but have one glaring weakness; they are allergic to hugs.

Use more the square, square, triangle combo bro, it will help you with the crowd control. Also try to block more (hold the button, not the parry) there is a lot of attacks you can just block safely instead of evading to another enemy's attack and getting hit anyway and you dont even have to look at the enemy that is attacking you to block all the incoming attacks. Those spinning enemies can be blocked in a lot of situations just holding the button in place.

Don’t forget the block button exists lol! Also you’re a mad lad for starting in Spartan difficulty. It will get significantly harder later.. I tried that difficulty back then and give up lol 😅

Another tip you don’t necessarily have to dodge when you activate your rage. You can really jsut go crazy. Also if you have enough magic your magic will be unlimited when rage is active.

The God of War series is amazing but I haven’t played the last 2. I’m talking about 1-3, and there were some in between titles also, like Ascension which I hate because of one big fight that took me hours to get through on the highest difficulty. One of the hardest sections in a video game that I ever played. There’s some other titles as well. The series was some of first Platinum trophies I ever earned but required beating the games on the highest difficulty. The setting you’re playing is difficult for sure but there’s one higher than that! The fights can be brutal. Some fights seem to last forever as mobs don’t stop coming out. Very very challenging and rage inducing! I still noticed you weren’t using that 3 hit attack much, the one where he slams down on 3rd hit. It bounces the enemies in the air. It seems like I use to jump and then do those 3 hits in the air and land with the slam. It’s been years since I’ve played but yes it’s powerful. And I’m pretty sure you can jump up and do the grabs in the air? Like I said it’s been years so I can’t totally recall. But people saying that one 3 hit combo will get you through some fights, that’s true. I swear you can jump and do that too. It’s a learning curve figuring out the best combos for certain mobs.

Mati loving the gow series ive played the remastered version of the one your playing and as for your next series after this one i thibk you should DEFINATELY play DEVIL MAY CRY YOUL LOVE IT you like all the same games i do so i know youl love it for definate just take it easy on the difficulty ive played right up to sparta mode and it gets insane 😂 one of my favourite games of all time ive played them through from the ps2 upwards

Hey Mati I don’t know if anyone mentioned this yet but Rage of the Gods, while it doesn’t prevent health loss, you don’t get flinched. So in dire moments hit both triggers and start swinging :)!
