I loved the part where Danny recounts that Matilda told him that she was embarrassed to dance in front of everyone, so Danny got everyone to dance as well while she was dancing, and she was not the only one anymore. That was so sweet. By the way, Pam Farris didn't get hurt filming the erasers scene hitting her, but she had to go to the hospital a couple of times because she sometimes would get big chunks of chalk in her eyes that needed to get washed out.

That's because they're all really there. There's actually props to interact with. Compare the Lord of the Rings movies with the Hobbit movies for example. The Lord of the Rings movies have real props. Real things for the actors to touch and interact with. In The Hobbit, a lot of things are not actually there so it's awkward and fake. Both were made by the same people with several of the same actors. However, there is a huge gap in quality because of the CGI.

Probably a lot of people already know this, but Mara Wilson (Matilda) had her mom hospitalized due to terminal cancer. Not only did Danny and her wife take care of her while filming, but she also later knew that he secretly "stole" an unfinished version of the movie just for Mara's mom to see. Thanks to that she was able to watch her daughter play Matilda before passing away. The man is an absolute legend
