I was born in matlacha area. I live in the matlacha area and I’ll die here. It’s in my blood. Nothing like jumping in your boat cruising a mangrove to bring home dinner for tonight. You guys wouldn’t like it here though. Too many bugs and humidity. Try somewhere else lol
@Logoned4 жыл бұрын
Matlacha is a gem. I live nearby, sometimes I take a drive there for the heck of it it's beautiful. So are the other islands around it. Good food. I miss Sandy Hook was one of my favorite restaurants. Matlacha is the place if the world's most understated million dollar properties.

Ed King No it’s not. It’s a horrible place to visit. Stay away😉

I grew up on Pine Island. Walked, biked, rode horse back over nearly every inch of Matlacha, Little Pine Island, Pine Island and Useppa Island. Canoe, kayak and any other means of water travel around the Island and out lying protected islands. By far Cayo Costa Island is the best for over night camping if you have a boat. Rentals are available if you need to choose that route but there are several charter boats that will take you and pick you up for a fairly good price. My family still lives on the Island. Going home is always at low tide so you don't ever forget that special smell of salt water. I love my home town.

I live about an hour away from matlacha and like the video portrays it's like strapping into a different world. It really is a beautiful little town with great restaurants and you are literally right on the water. The fishing is awesome and the whole vibe of the place is that of relaxation walking through the town makes you want to hit a hammock with a tasty brew in your hands. One of the true Florida gems that is being kept the way more of Florida should look,instead of strip mall after strip mall. Robert I don't think anyone could have done that town the justice of a portrayal like you can. Great job!!

I lived on the island, the absolute best place to live...EVER! I got transferred to North Carolina 3 years ago and miss the island. Who wouldn't love to wake up to dolphins, snook, manatees, sharks, etc. in your backyard everyday? I traded all that for deer and turkey. Amazing job showing off our little slice of heaven, and increasing my homesickness. Kudos to you and wish you happy and safe travels.

Hi Robert. My husband and I are new to your channel, and we love watching your videos. My husband gets motion sickness easily, and he can’t watch many channels on traveling except yours. Thank you for keeping the camera nice and steady, and your narrative is wonderful. Sometimes we make popcorn and binge watch Traveling Robert. We’ve been to many places that you have videoed, and you really entice us to go to the locations that we haven’t been to. We live in Cape Coral, Florida, and we love this video on Matlacha. By the way, if you come back make sure that you stop into Great Licks ice cream parlor. It’s close to the RV Park you stayed at. They have the best ice cream in the area by far. It only stays that way if people assimilate. I was born and I live in the matlacha area. Fort myers was always liked for its rugged outdoors, but then those same Yankees needed this and that like it was back home and slowly started taking away that charm. This is the reason we dislike Yankees. We’re here because we truly love the way it is. They come down and our community caters to them and will tear down a patch of woods to put in another Starbucks because the other one is 10 minutes away and then they leave for the summer and leave us with one less spot. If we’re not careful we will look like Miami soon.
@anniefannycharles99514 жыл бұрын
Some that move to this area from Miami end up moving back. Its toooo slooow for them! LOL - I live in Cape Coral which is a few miles from here and Ive heard their kids call it Cape Coma! --- that fine. Thats exactly how we like it here.

I don't know why this video showed up on my playlist, but I watched it. Being a mid-aged guy from the Midwest, I always had a dislike for thinking about living in Florida. It's too hot and humid, too many people, and overrated in my opinion. After watching this video though, sure did make me wish I lived in Florida now. Love the charm of small islands, surrounded by water and wildlife and sea life, and boats... Maybe I am finally getting old and tired of this cold, snowy winters and need to move south. Great video Robert.
