Please note that there are some (I hope minor) audio issues in this video. Some of my voiceover in the final dungeon segment suffers from "plosives". I'm clearly still a bit rusty with recording technique etc.! The real problem was with the PS4 footage recording of Mato Anomalies: I've had problems before with the audio CODEC used by Sony (for some reason only occurs with physical discs!) and this recording turned out pretty terrible. So I lowered or muted the sound for large stretches, which means you don't get to hear a lot of the sounds & music. I used my own BGM where possible (further details in the video Description). Still, I work with what I have, and hope you don't find it too troublesome. As always, thank you for your support and patience.

​@@Food4Dogs This game is definitely not for everyone and it is a let down if player expect something on the level of Persona😅Im still in the early hours but I am enjoying the characters and stories enough to overlook some "wish it is better" aspects - dungeon design being one of them. Overall, having good Chinese games that take influence from its Chinese roots and culture on Switch is pretty refreshing after going through multiple JRPGs since I got my Switch.

I am particularly interested in Legend of Sword and Fairy (we now have 2 games available in English). Many of the localisations unfortunately, so far, struggle with poor translation. I'm hoping that this will improve over time.

I'm so grateful that you gave this game a fair shake, as I too am bored to death of seeing everything referred to as a Persona clone. The concept here looks SO cool! But the execution seems to lack a bit of luster, unfortunately. Thank you for showing off this game, as I'd never heard of it before! I do hope the devs continue to strive for more, cuz it certainly seems like there's a fair bit of interesting stuff here, just not quite enough refinement for it. That said, it is DELIGHTFUL to see you again! Though I'm sorry it came at the cost of a nerve-wracking surgery. Much like many of the comments below are saying, i'm really glad to hear that you're doing a bit better. I can't imagine how scary that time must have been to go through. I'm just happy to see that you are safe despite it all. I hope for continued improvements to the recovery with as little impact to your quality of life as possible. I'm glad to see you can enjoy your passions again however : ) Edit after watching video: Honestly it's a shame to see the game doesn't seem too good. It seems like this studio should've kept this idea until a later time when they had more funding, staff, and experience under their belt. They should've made a smaller game with a tighter gameplay focus. There's some really neat art direction and I can tell what they wanted to do with their writing. But it's blatantly clear they need more funding, time, and as said before, experience. It all falls almost near immediately flat on its face and ends up being a bit trite. I hope this studio doesn't immediately fold, and instead dials it all back and slowly steps it up over time after exploring the field more and tests ideas and fleshes them out more.

I sincerely hope there's no more surgery! This one was tbh brutal. At my age, surgery is a lot harder to go through. All I can do now is hope that most of the damage heals by itself (can take very long, I'm told) and the small improvement I gained doesn't evaporate again!

I had my eye on this game and totally missed its release. Thanks for your review and for pointing out how lazy it is when reviewers just slap on a so and so clone on a game. Sure some Devs are inspired by other games but to call certain games blatant clones without giving them an actual in depth review just takes out the enjoyment of the game and also feels insulting to the Devs that clearly put a lot of hard work in a game. Even if the game is not great it must still feel horrible for studios to have the games just be called a clone and be constantly compared.

Yes, I made the same mistake 😁 and had to go back the next day because I had not noticed vital information in the dialogues or cut scenes. It also helps reading the entries in the Journal (despite the sometimes mangled English). The game asks you to take in a fair amount of world lore straight from the start; but they do intermittently explain stuff in dialogue.

From the short card segment I saw it really seems like it could benefit a lot from a better design. The depth of the "card game" is secondary for most people (being a JRPG and all), so long as it feels good to play. Could be a good addition if executed correctly

@@Food4Dogs I've decided to hold off on buying it. At least maybe until there's a sale with it being 50% off. From the sounds of it, it was pretty bare bones and $40 seems like a bit steep of a price tag. I can certainly enjoy smaller scope games, but my backlog of games is already mountainous so I should probably play those before getting another game that might not be as great as some of the games that I already have, but haven't played.
