I played this piece for my final this year on my euphonium. What a coincidence! I also just picked up my euphonium again after a while. Great work!

Hi friends, hope everyone had a great start to your week. Here's the last movement from Holst's 1st Suite in Eb arranged by my colleague Drew Fennell. If you haven't seen the first two movements make sure to check it out on my channel. Also, please do us a solid and give this video a like and share it with your friends if you could. Thanks so much peeps and see you all live on Thursday at 1pm E.S.T.

The trio section sounds better then the wind band arrangement having the 1st euphonium part playing the melody. It makes me wonder why Holst didn't write 2 euphonium parts there?
@Matonizz4 жыл бұрын
I guess at that time euphonium players were an extinct species, finding solid player let along two probably seemed like too much effort :D
@brassman24684 жыл бұрын
Originally, Holst had a Bb baritone horn playing the melody in unison with the clarinets, bassoons, saxophones and horns in contrast with the euphonium playing the countermelody, so in a way he almost wrote for two euphoniums in that section. The Bb baritone part later disappeared from most editions, though a few have restored part or all of it.

You smashed it once again! Amazing work! I especially love the emphasis on the second Euphonium’s part for the March, I had to play it once but I definitely didn’t do as well as you did! Looking forwards to more 8 brass parts like this in the future!

I finally got an euphonium again! Well, sort of, was able to find a vintage King "American Baritone" that plays well, though, having been playing tuba a lot more again during shutdown, I immediately wish I had a 4-valve as I was pedaling low with ease. Oh well, that will likely be my next brass purchase as it's been nice to play a valved instrument in the tenor range again (I do have a pair of pBones; a Bb tenor & Eb alto) and I've been working to get my tone back. Had already been adapting your stuff to tuba and alto, so it's nice to have an instrument that's closer to an actual euphonium, lol

Why isn’t there a trombone section for your ensembles? Is that due to the euphoniums?

Will be in next arrangement, I just couldn't find a trombone player during pandemic :D Not even joking :D

@@John_Chow Totally personal preference but the lack of a french horn doesn't do it for me. I also just don't like arrangments of wind band stuff, I'm sure others can love this but personally just not my thing

Lucas Holton gotchu, next time specify that it’s a matter of personal preference before putting down a well executed performance
