The perfect encapsulation of the whole Bass Bunker vibe is when Matt Freeman tells you that even he had a hard time learning Matt Freeman's bass line!

I hope people appreciate how special it is for Matt Freeman to be making this kind of content. How many legendary musicians are doing this kind of thing, much less with this kind of authenticity? Musicians and fans alike are going to benefit and enjoy these play along/breakdowns for years to come. Thanks Matt!

Huge fan of this song. Huge fan of the guy who wrote the bass lines. I also like the term hammer-on dead note to describe what you do mid chorus. I incorporate several of those into my own lines.

The tone on that bass is just unreal. My wrist was hurting just from seeing that riff. Thanks for this Matt! Can you do Hoover Street? You da man!

Black Lung brings out some memories bro. Myself & a good friend figured out that bassline on our guitars in 1998…. We didn’t own a bass so we made due. When we tried to play it on a friends bass later, we realized how crazy of a bass line it was because of how wide bass frets are 😂😂😂. Much love from SW Louisiana dude.

The explanation of the riff's composition in this video was really interesting. This channel has made me appreciate Rancid songs I haven't heard in a while and may have forgot. I think the Life Won't Wait album is Rancid's compositional and arrangement masterpiece. That's interesting to hear it was recorded so quickly.

When I first listened to this song on my ipod shuffle (back in 2005 I guess), I loved it instantly. After a while (playing it over and over) I found out one of my earphones was lacking bass, it was broken. So I played the song on my CD player instead and was blown away by the bass addition ❤️ loved it even more since then and it's still one of my absolute favourite rancid songs. Have seen you guys play live twice now (in the Netherlands) and was hoping to hear Black Lung both times but I know it's not a mass favourite. But it's in my top 3 for sure! 💀 🖤

Mr. Freeman I would have to say you and Mr. Brett Reed ventured away from the typical Rancid sound here heard on the bands previous 3 full lengths. It’s such an awesome thing you do teaching us out here the bass progression. I too had a hot rod once. A 72 Nova sold it to my buddy before enlisting in the Navy for beer and cigarette money what amassed to a measly 500 bucks. What’s your favorite car you own now? Haven’t skimmed the archives lately, have you done “Badtown” yet? Thank you sir for all you do for us. From a US Navy Veteran.
