Mike was very comfortable talking with Matt. They both go way back before any stardom or dreams of “making it”. The early Gilman St days were golden and pure, they didn’t care about mainstream success of any sort. Their successes came being true to themselves and playing exactly the music they loved. 👊🏽👍🏽😁🎶🎶

As an East Bay kid who spent a night or two at Gilman and Berkeley Square back in the 80s/90s, it always makes me smile to hear a Crimpshrine shoutout. Thanks to you all for making the East Bay what it was (and is).
@DustinHallXVX
@DustinHallXVX Ай бұрын
I was just talking to Brian Stern about old East Bay bass players. Listening to Econochrist and Dead and Gone, I had to ask, "Why did you guys play like that?!" So much melodic meandering that was almost completely independent from the rest of the song. He just said that all the East Bay bass players played "busy as hell" back then, which is so true. Thanks for this interview!

Mike Dirnt is such a great punk drummer because he doesn't put himself in a box style-wise. And can write some great bass riffs that don't try to be anything but bass riffs. I'm a guitarist but I'm learning bass and what I'm actually most excited to learn is Green Day and The Beatles, because I just enjoy the bass riffs for those bands a lot. I love seeing Mike here so casual and relaxed with you. Great interview. And thanks to Mike Dirnt for all the great music!

Mike Dirnt interviews *that long...usually cost---you can't ever get him to talk, on camera. Unc Matt too humble, loved the filming and nice ( respectful) touch wearing a Charger shirt♪ I once was in London, crossing the road in Highgate and we ran into Pete Rypins, Tilt was opening up for No Use For A Name at The Garage and he put us on the list ♪ And of course Dave Ed Neurosis Heaviest Band Of All Time™️®︎©️ has a great melodic hardcore band called The Enemies where he played those melodic bass lines with ease... Mike Dirnt is such a perfect rhythm section foil to Billie's songs. Working Class done good from the East Bay. I think his best playing is on Dookie-Insomniac-Nimrod
