Nothing against any of these musicians at all, but I vastly prefer listening to this versus the studio recorded material. It is a result of what is expected from the genre, but I love that I can actually FEEL and HEAR what Matt sounds like. All of the dynamics and beautiful touch. The studios often strip a lot of that away from these types of bands. That's not to say that the level of production on the records isn't impeccable, I just wish modern metal and rock production allowed the true sound and deft of touch of the musicians come through. Incredible stuff!

I think that people that are into this kind of music are most likely musicians themselves, or at least artists of some sort, so I think they are hip to the level of musicianship and hard work all of the members have put into their respective instruments. But, I think the spirit of your post is true in the sense that Matt (as well as the other members) is beyond amazing and most of what Matt is doing is beyond the full understanding of most people (including most musicians) because he is that advanced and has put that much thought into each song and drum part, etc... Hopefully that made sense. I am just grateful to see so many people appreciating this kind of music. I have spent a lot of time feeling disheartened at the attention and accolades that certain pop musicians get for churning out awful one-dimensional songs, so to see a band like this getting the attention they deserve and to see how respectful and thoughtful all of the comments have been for their videos has given me some faith in humanity. Also, just wanted to add, that sometimes Matt makes it look easy, but other times he makes it look super hard because you can see him putting every ounce of energy and focus into keeping it from spiraling out of control, which I appreciate. I can see that he spends a lot of time riding that fine line between being in control and stretching his limit for growth. Super impressed by this band and this drummer. He makes me want to quit and practice more at the same time.
