I feel like Reeves Batman would be so great in a DCU. We’ve seen grounded Batman with Bale, we’ve seen a couple fantastical Batmen (admittedly to varying degrees of success) I think it’d be so cool to watch a grounded Batman grow into that classic comic Batman. Plus, all of Reeves’ stuff has been from November-December of 2022, and the DCU is starting up in 2025, so that’s a solid three years between stories where Matt can tell the story he’s been wanting to tell, but also leave room for (imo) the best Batman on film to get to experience the full range of what Batman brings to comic books

I find it interesting how he used to be so against the idea in the past in interviews and now he's saying "let's wait and see what the future brings". Gives me the impression his mindset is changing! It makes sense as he's becoming more involved within the DCU. It can totally work imho. Look at Daredevil! Extremely grounded in the MCU yet his cameos in No Way Home and She Hulk brought a lot of attention and positivity to a once thought finished franchise :D

Can we just take a moment and thank God for Josh? All the rampant rumors, all the rampant speculation circulating online driving everyone crazy. Here comes Josh asking the EXACT questions we all want to know. Josh doesn't beat around the bush either for example most interviewers: "Are you thinking of doing other villain character shows?" Josh:"Thoughts on other spin offs at this point for Zoe and other characters?" Bam. He hits directors/actors with well thought out questions that have substance obviouslly these directors know how to answer without answering but Josh asks just the right amount which forces them to give us a little more than "I'm excited for the future" another example when he asked if Reeves would be open to Pattinson joining the DCU and Reeves didn't say outright no. That's HUGE again most interviewers would've stopped with Reeves first Gunn answer but asking if the door is open for pattinson to join the DCU is such a great follow up, and Reeves saying he didn't know means it's possible. Again, that's HUGE. Here is Josh asking the right questions as if he was one of us. If Josh didn't end up in media he would've made an excellent lawyer in cross examinations. The man has style and class.

Reeves telling we'll see what happens in future is a green light that anything can merge if they plan it out. He is happy as long as he gets to do his trilogy, but Batman can still join the JL outside of it. Also Gunn hasn't debunked the rumours yet which he usually does quickly. I think both of them are waiting to see DCU's reception and will plan accordingly. There is definitely a chance

i wouldnt mind a bit of fantasy in next villains. Freeze at times in the comics has literal powers, like breathing cold air, freezing up everybody, he is immune to cold etc. I also love one of his newer origin stories, where he actually never met Nora and she is not his wife. She has just this obsession with this frozen girl in a tank that never knew him and he convinced himself she loves him and he has to save her due to his mother dying in frozen lake when he was a kid and he just could watch as it happened. He tells everyone story that it is his wife, but when batman confronts him - he just outs his bs then and there before dismantling freeze psychically as well as mentally

The smartest thing to do would be to integrate Matt Reeves Batman into The DCU, and even go more fantastical, with the same grounded feeling and tone as TBM. We have seen Reeves make talking apes feel grounded and realistic, he definitely can do the same with some of the more fantastical elements in The Batman mythos. James Gunn already said he doesn’t care about canon so much that creators visions will be squandered, this will allow Reeves to have the freedom to do what he wants, and Pattinson can be in the DCU. This will also avoid confusing the general audience with 2 Batman’s.

That's an unexpectedly noncommittal answer to the DCU question. I was under the impression that that was going to be more of a hard no. I still don't think it's going to happen, but it's interesting that Matt isn't completely closed off to the eventuality, unlikely as it may be. Also surprised to hear about The Penguin season 2 being in the conversation. I thought for sure that was a limited series and would remain so. I was kind of hoping Lauren would move on to Catwoman or something. But I wouldn't complain about a second season of The Penguin either.

Matt and the writers really turned Riddler into a horror symbol that grabs you every time he’s on screen. I expect them to reinvent (assuming it’s a classic Batman villain) whoever they are and give them a fresh angle in the modern day. Matt reeves Batman will fit in the DCU here’s why: 1. The clashing Tones of James gunn’s Superman and Matt Reeves’s Batman not only does it match the exact tone of the comics but it makes for a better Richer fleshed out world. The reason why Batman and Superman work so good together in the comics is because of the clashing tones of both characters it’s literally night and day. 2. The reason Zack Snyder movies ultimately failed was he wanted to give Superman the same tone as Batman he wanted everything to be dark and gritty. James gunns superman should be bright and fantastical like how it’s described but that tone should not be universal across the entire DCU because you’ll just get a repeat of Zack Snyder’s universe. 3. Not everything or every place in James Gunn universe is going to be or should be fantastical. Some characters or stories will benefit from not being cartoonish. You want a fleshed out world not a jumbled mess of fantasy. 4. To everyone complaining about fantastical Batman. Batman was never really fantastical at all he was the grounded hero for DC hence why he has no powers however he always interacted with the fantastical when it came to certain villains or super hero team ups. But even then most of Batman’s villiams were grounded the fantastical villains are the exception not the rule. 5. Matt reeves Gotham is the exact opposite of metropolis just like in the freakin comics. Matt reeves handling the Batman side while James Gunn handles the Superman and other hero’s is the best move it’s perfect symbiosis 6. Batman was never a dark version of Superman he was a grounded take on the superhero comics at the time. So if an inherently grounded superhero can team up with the fantastical in the comics it can work in the movies. 7. Why have 2 competing versions of Batman and Gotham especially when you have a version of one that’s already established and loved. is it not only confusing for non comic book people but it’s going to cause rivalry in the fandom. If DCU version of Batman sucks either with the character or story wise everyone will complain about how Matt reeves Batman should have been in the DCU and it will ultimately hurt the image of the DCU.

Oh that's possible actually like they make a continuation saga rather then 2 diffrent stories just like infinity wars and endgame for avenger but this time just for batman, shit that could be interesting

@krishsoni9287 Definitely pal the movie is out in 2027 you know then is it going to take another 5 years to make the next one? Maybe they will just make 1 huge great second movie with a few great spin offs until then or maybe they will just make 2 movies together so the Batman 2 will come out 2027 and then the 3rd to round the trilogy off in 2029 or something like that? And they might make the next to movies at the same time while their at it. Maybe I'm wrong but we will see.

I think that if James Gunn can let Matt reeves accomplish what he set out to do with his Batman, and even be flexible enough with his DCU this could be a wonderful opportunity for them both, to have Pattinson be the Batman of the DCU. We have yet to see any of James Gunn’s DCU, in an official capacity, really the most we have is intentions and two yet to be released movies. So why not have Matt Reeve’s Batman help influence the decision? In fact I would say he’s got just as much chop at helping create the DCU as James if that were up his alley. The penguin was a great example, great story telling, great world building, amazing show. How important is keeping this fantastical element for Batman? How big of a role does the bat family have in a brand new DCU? This Batman is grounded but it borders so perfectly on the fantastical element, to me it’s very reminiscent of the Arkham and Animated series, which aren’t that different to a shared Batman Universe. Nolan’s Batman for example was way more grounded. We seen this happen last time with Snyder and his interpretation, even those movies underwent a dramatic tone shift from Man of Steel to Batman V. Superman. I think if given the leverage Matt Reeve’s Batman would be awesome in the DCU.

Think they will wait and see things for some time and keep open the multiple possibilities like let this version of batman grow and eventuallly leading to larger things.

I hope Freeze is the main villain of the sequel. And just imagining about the fact that Matt Reeves and Jeremy Strong, which I think is the perfect choice for this role, were in the same room, this makes me... I don't know... hopefully he could see this idea and take the meeting.
