I never saw him as a "vilain" per se, he was more of a loud mouth and a bit abrassive but never with the direct intention to ffend people or being an ashole, he is the type of person who will be loud about things he is against, but yeah he could be a bit too intense XDD

I have been lucky enough to have met Matt several times. Every single time he has been supremely gracious and exceptionally giving of his time for his fans and fellow martial artists. You just know he has answered the same questions a million times but when he gets them, at least from us that night, he answered as if it was the first time with total enthusiasm. He's a very funny guy and his ability to connect with his fans is something amazing. He made my fighter's night one night. He came up after my guy fought and made it a point to tell the kid he had a great fight and was really impressive. My fighter only ever talks about the night he talked to Matt

Serra won me over a long time ago , he got so many haters because he beat GSP. He beat GSP because he wanted it, and trained his ass off. He lived in the basement of his school when he was training for that fight. He was in a scenerio where everyone thought he was gonna get destroyed. He blocked out the noise and overcame the obstacle and won world champion. Dude has an amazing personality and overall fun dude
