Hey Matt, Thank you so much you don't know how much I've always wanted to learn to whistle. From weddings, sports festivals, to college fest's I've never been able to whistle properly. Thank you so much for being so patient teaching with so many methods. I've been frustrated trying to learn from my friends. Finally this quarantine was atleast a little good for me. I'm subscribed hoping you post more and better types of whistling method. Thanks again lol

Right, so I've been trying this for years, kinda taught myself with a general idea of the theory. I can get some lovely clean tones but I can kinda get airy whispy whistles a lot, often not a lot of control and the whistle tone breaks as I try to increase the volume, hence why I found myself here. After spitting everywhere for 20 mins trying this technique I wasn't getting far .... until I nailed it with my original technique when I wasn't thinking about it. So no I'm wondering if it is the same technique but just doesn't feel how you describe? Personally I cannot do it without my top lip tensing. Also i create a pringle shape with my tongue (sides up, but instead of the tip of my tongue pointing up I rest it just under my bottom lip. The area half way down my tongue makes up the high point and compresses air against the mid roof of my mouth) so other than the tip of my tongue and the use of my top lip its very similar. I feel like I'm lacking just slightly in power with this technique though.

U mentioned that some people can make some high pitch but it’s not the proper whistle , I can make sound but I’m not showing my top teeth out , I only use my tongue against my teeth, and my teeth again my bottom lip, my mouth look like I’m doing the normal whistle, is that right ?

I've been trying your tips, I feel like i'm really close but not quite there. Some other tutorial said that you should try and get your bottom lip in front of your top teeth to form like a whistle. I can't really do that cause I got a bit of an overbite and it makes my jaw hurt. Could this be the reason why it's not working? I'll keep on trying anyways
@matt60145 жыл бұрын
It helps being able to get your lower jaw more forward. But it isn't the only way. I'm glad the other vid helped. I believe it might help if you put your lower lip further into your mouth, like well over your bottom teeth. That should compensate for the overbite. I tried keeping my lower jaw back as if I had an over bite and I made the whistle work by having my lower lip like how I just mentioned. Good luck!

@@matt6014 thank you for the quick response. I didn't expect it to work in the first day anyways, but your videos helped me getting close really fast. I'm gonna keep practicing

I am able to get a very high pitch squeal when I do it. I am not able to get the lower tone that really carries, if that makes sense...dad's sounds like yours does in some of your videos. I can think back to being a kid and really hearing it carry across a store, yard, sporting event. I asked him how he does it and he can't really explain. Any tips to get the lower tone that cuts through the wind?
@matt60145 жыл бұрын
I think I know what your talking about. It is possible that the whistle you're doing is simply a different whistle. I had a high pitch soft whistle and I thought i was doing it right and that I just needed to get better at it to be deeper. I realized it was just simply wrong and had to start from scratch again. So I suggest stop trying to turn that whistle into a deeper one. Check out my other vids. You'll get it
@michaelworthy99765 жыл бұрын
@@matt6014 I finally freaking got it! took me several hours yesterday and today. Also had to relearn how to whistle from what I was previously doing. What worked for me was to push my bottom lip up high on my lower teeth, raise my cheeks like I would go to smile, push my lower jaw out/forward, and try to lightly press my tongue against the bottom of my front teeth as I exhaled. As soon as I would hear the crack of the whistle I would immediately stop and try to do it again. Each time I would completely relax my face. I can now consistently do it making the sound almost every time. Now I need to work on volume control and changing the tone.

I've been on God's green earth for 74 years now. I've wasted countless hours if not days attempting to produce high pitched noises by forcing air flow across my tongue and through my teeth & lips. Thoughts of not being able to whistle without fingers have haunted my dreams and plagued my entire life. I've lost my job of 40 years by hiding in the maintenance closet throughout the workday trying to whistle. My children's hearts are filled with malice and hurt from the years of neglect I've shown trying to obtain the skill of whistling without my fingers. My wife of 48 years has left me and taken the house with her complaining that my pursuit of whistling without fingers has caused her nothing but stress from feelings of being unloved and unwanted. Just last month, I wrecked my car, my only possession, on highway 45 while trying to achieve my dreams. I've taken shelter behind a small shopping mall and have fashioned a lean-to against a wall to protect my few belongings from the elements. Most nights are sleepless from the cold, the howling of the coyotes, or dwelling on the realization that my life has descended into a hellish, whistle-less nightmare. I often fantasize about ending it all to escape this hellscape. So here I sit inside a McDonald's with my free cup of water and my 0.99 cent hamburger just to have access to the free wi-fi that is offered. I stumbled upon your videos as a broken incapable of whistling without my fingers. And here you are before me, a Germanic, whistling angel bestowing a lifetime of sacred knowledge unto me. You are rest to the weary, relief to the broken, and food to the hungry. This tutorial has subsequently had me removed from the aforementioned McDonalds for disturbing the customers from my extraneously loud whistling capabilities. YOU HEAR THAT MARGARET YOU STUPID BITCH!? I CAN WHISTLE WITHOUT MY FINGERS! But Margaret, if you’re reading this, I’m sorry….please come back. Tell the kids I love them.

"I get a little wordy or I don't make sense..." STOP THAT! You do make sense and the reason you do that is also the reason you are you - you have SPD (ADHD linked). It's why you STIM, why you are often late, and why you are OMEGA where others with the same qualities but without SPD are ALPHA - while you are OMEGA, like me. Omega is the dream of the alpha. ;). You're welcomed. (a sub back would be greatly appreciated but no worries if no).
