Sophie C I used to hate doing dressage and any type of flat work and only ever wanted to jump but then I went to pony club camp and had a dressage instructor and I actually really enjoyed it and found some really fun exercises so I have started doing much more it’s not as bad as I used to think 😂

You're so lucky he looks like a natural jumper! He jumps better than my horse whose only been jumping for a few months now but then she's a 14hh 4 year old cob compared to a 17.2hh warmblood 😂 But Chase is such a lovely horse, I've seen videos of dressage horses trying to jump and they just freak out and stag jump it but Chase was so calm ☺️

This video was a real pleasure to watch. Chase is an honest, engaged horse who seemed to like his change of pace with jumping, and I enjoyed watching you ride. Thanks for posting this! I used dressage as the foundation for everything else I trained my Arabian gelding to do. I never competed in dressage, because what I really wanted was an excellent trail horse, who I could ride anywhere, and be able to have a confident, trusting partner in my travels. I got that. Over 24 years together we showed (fun shows, mostly trail & pleasure classes as well as driving) we explored the forests & trails of northern Illinois & southern Wisconsin, we sleighed in winter, we swam in lakes in summer. Dressage helped give me the horse of my dreams. RIP Ariel, you are always in my heart.

Your horse is gorgeous. Very nice smooth mover. Looks natural over the jumps. Would like to see a little more release over them. They're small but a release is good you want the "spring" to be released. I also would have went over the jump he refused again because you don't want the horse to get used to not jumping after a refusal. It's a nasty habit to break. Otherwise everything looks good. Love how the trainer is thorough in explaining and helping you along.

I can’t begin to tell you how much improvement I’ve found with BEMER. It really helps with their recovery and circulation and it’s really made a difference.” (from veterinary.bemergroup.com/en_US/Success%20stories?partner=meggl ) you could look into treating them with a BEMER horse set: shop.bemergroup.com/en_US/sets/412300?partner=meggl

Oh wow this is funny. As if jumping a dressage horse is something you would never get to see😂 here in Germany it's quite common and asked for that any horse should be able to do dressage, small jumps and go out hacking no matter what you are trying to accomplish. It's part of the basic training any horse should undergo and do so regularly.

From what my instructor always told me a good horse should be able to handle jumping and dressage, not just one or the other of course there's always exceptions I guess but training in multiple disaplines makes a better more well rounded horse anyways.

You have an insanely amazing seat and leg in every transition. I haven’t shown or ridden a horse in over 25 years, but I still enjoying watching your videos.

"That was a bit naughty" the horse changed leads twice right before the jump, it's no surprise he was confused.

Abbi Zeiger he swapped legs as he was trying to find a way to get around the jump. My youngster does it too when not 100% on the jump. Not Matts fault at all. Just a green horse learning where to put his legs ☺️!

Yeah the horse changed leads because it was trying to figure out how to dodge the jump ie naughty

Thank you Matt for showing the good and not so good in your attempts at new things. This makes me feel like I can do it to! Chase is a wonderful horse with such a willing heart.

I've never seen a neater arena. Beautiful surroundings with that tree and platform as a view station. Where is that location? So cool.

@ShahrukhKhanForever
@ShahrukhKhanForever 6 жыл бұрын

Its really nice to see such a volunteer and curious horse with a really kind and patient rider ! This channel is truly helpful to me since I'm French and I'm supposed to travel to the US this summer and ride there, so I'm learning a bit more of the horseriding vocabulary while enjoying nice videos, advices and this horse which is absolutely stunning. I'm a huge fan of dressage (I do both showjumping & dressage) when it is done with respect and kindness, which is everything I see in the way you treat and ride him. Glad I've discovered your channel !

Dolphin Joe that’s why you’d want more release. You shouldn’t start a horse with so much pressure. The rider already has a flash and spurs- a strong hand won’t help him relax.
@dolphinjoe9809
@dolphinjoe9809 6 жыл бұрын
+ chestnut beauty Yeah I agree. I don't like flashes and spurs and he was holding the horse to tight. I think Matt just started jumping as well and will get better at releasing over jumps. When I said "He" I was referring to Matt not his horse Chase. Sorry I should have been more specific.
