@nobinary22968 ай бұрын
@@JamesP7No they are just being 1 dimensional in their analysis while ALSO being correct. His depression may have caused him to neglect Charlie and only reach out when necessary or when he just wants to hear her voice. As Charlie said, "He only calls when he needs something or is bored." You could see it in her body language asking Vaggie and the others for support, even facially, and if you paid attention to when she was on the phone with him her vocal responses were uncomfortable, desperate for attention, and accusatory. In the her part of reconciling with her Father she literally said, "When I was young. I didn't really know you at all." All she knew is he was a big dreamer and that taught her that dreams are worth fighting for. It was also implied that the Mother was seperating them. As she took them away when they were bonding and nothing bad was happening. So I think Charlie's Mom had custody. Considering she seemed closer to her Mother any time she spoke about her it was fondly. As opposed to her Father who neglected her "since her parents split". So yes. It is a form of ab×se. Neglect is extremely harmful and damaging to your children. Hell even ab×sive partners do it. Its used in manipulation tactics abd wearing down their resolve to speak up for themselves. When parents do it it can lead to their children seeking that comfort or roll in anyone. As we could see with the Hazbin Hotel. She is REALLY codependent and basically falls apart and goes overboard with any mistakes she makes or when someone breaks her trust. That's why Alastor is there. To manipulate and get Charlie on his side so he can break the deal binding his soul. BUT I don't think he expected to care about her as much as he does. We could see it with Mimzy, since Charlie wasn't around to see him there was no reason to pretend, and he stood up to a friend like Mimzy who he really cared about. We see it again when, despite being there to manipulate her into a deal, he gives her advice about smiling to hide what's going on in your mind. That was a look into HIS world. He introduced her to Rosie and allowed her to HOLD HIS MICROPHONE. That mic is his source of power apparently and he just let Charlie hold it?? Even for a manipulation he didn't need to allow her to hold something so vital to him. Then he admitted she was "full of potential he could guide" and Rosie agreed as long as "you stick with her you'll be on the winning side". Both in it for themselves but willing to risk a lot to be by her side. I mean Rosie put her whole colony at risk and even counseled her when she had relationship issues. There was also the moment on the balcony with Alastor and Nifty. No one was listening and Alastor was looking upon the group fondly while admitting "one could grow accustomed to this". Because I like to point out a parallel in how his disappearance was treated by his fellow Overlord vs everyone at Hazbin Hotel. "I know~ I have been missing for quite some time. I am sure you have all been wondering." Followed by Carmilla's dismissive, "Not really." You could see his face screw up. Then when he was barely missing for a day at most from the Hazbin Hotel after the battle they all jumped on him with a hug when he popped up. He even said mockingly in his final monologue, "Alastor altruist died for his >friends< ? Sorry to disappoint! That is not where this ends!" He admitted when no one was around that he sees them as friends. He could've said anything else. But he is also "hungry for freedom like never before". Implying he is still going to do whatever it takes and cross whomever he needs to in order to gain his freedom. People can still be bad, do bad things to you, and still have some twisted version of care for you. Its why family issues are so complicated. Which is why it's not great to dismiss the effect of Lucifer's neglect on Charlie. If he had been more present and trained her against these things? She wouldn't have been so easy for Alastor to manuever. It really was the perfect set of circumstances.
@icemagiciangh8 ай бұрын

The moment in the song where Lilith shows up, she is faceless. I’m pretty sure that is shorthanded, for she was hiding her emotions and had already decided that that moment that she was leaving Lucifer and taking Charlie with her. And Lucifer was already somebody who was significantly beaten down from everything that’s been taken from him. So it makes sense that at that point, he didn’t fight it. That’s why he very rarely ever contacted Charlie. Because with his depression, he most likely felt that she didn’t need him anymore. So he buried himself in his hobby of making rubber ducks that did unusual things. Also, if in season 2, they reveal that he was responsible for the creation of the platypus. Though it could also be he was so sad and depressed to lose them he also didn't fight to stay in contact. Charlie was the only light and happiness and when she was taken away I think he lost his path. His obsession with the ducks was because they reminded him of her and so he just locked himself away making toys for child Charlie and missing her growing up. I hope we find out more in S2.

It’s kind of too bad that Voodoo (Vodoun) has that reputation. It’s a legit religion, and some of those symbols are the veves of various spirits that are honored. I don’t mind it in this, somehow, but in the Princess and the Frog, it really pisses me off. Maybe it’s because they literally dress up the villain as Baron Saturday. I think there may be practitioners you can hire for stuff, and there’s a sort of grey morality to both Voodoo and Hoodoo. Magical practitioners draw the line where they want to. Some are “lady hearted.” They’ll bring back husbands, help with healing, but they won’t curse people. Some will curse people, but they’ll make it so it doesn’t land unless it’s justified. They’re uninterested in souls, because souls don’t pay the rent. You think I’m kidding? I’m not. I didn’t say I believe in it; I’m just saying it exists. But whatever it is, he’s clear from Louisiana, probably New Orleans, and he definitely killed people, so I don’t know if he needed.

@@professorbutters I 100% agree that people aren't seeing the whole story with Voodoo and Hoodoo. I do believe it is a proper religion and the good parts of it should be honored.

When Lilith takes Charlie away in the flashback, I think that particular scene is fairly innocent. Charlie is her nightgown. There's a fairly common trope scene with lil kids getting out of bed and finding the "absent" parent, only for the "normal" parent to find them at an appropriate story time moment to return them to bed.
@anniefemmas50978 ай бұрын
The problem is not the action, but the visual narration, I'm not saying that Lilith is bad, but she is 100% to blame for Luci and Charlie's bond becoming more distant Perhaps thinking that keeping her away from Lucifer was the best, But it is not something innocent when VISUALLY the scene speaks, Lucifer is in an illuminated place, the setting is beautiful and tender.They are sharing a nice moment, and she comes to cut it off by dragging Charlie into the dark. Again, does it mean that Lilith is evil or did she do it with bad intentions? No, but they are giving you to understand that she helped the bond grow apart. This is how visual language works, personally I think Lilith is not bad, but not good either. (The song also shows Lucifer at the beginning wanting to drag Charlie into the darkness to protect her, Lilith maybe trying to separate them because of that, Lilith, according to what Charlie says, loved sinners, so when Lucifer accepted extermination and was rejected, perhaps she wanted to separate his daughter so that she would not think the same way, she could Thinking it was the best for Charlie, Just saying, the visual narrative language was strong in this song)
@js666138 ай бұрын
Exactly. And because her face is obscured we don't see her expression so we can't say why Lilith is doing this, so honestly, it's just as safe to assume she's just being a mom and Lucifer was chose the absence, as it might be that she's taking Charlie from him at that point.

The thing i love most about hazbin is the depth of mental health that they weave into nearly every episode. I greatly relate to the relationship of charlie and lucfier since my mom did take me away from my dad which caused him to fall into a deep depression. We have watched this together and he agrees yes he was neglectful but the urge to still protect his daughter is still there which is why he most likely said no immediately to the meeting in heaven. He knew they destroyed him and wanted to protect his daughter. I love how he still jumps at the opportunity to be bsck in her life as well. My dad and me instantly clicked and it felt like no time passed.

I honestly think the leash Alister is on is Lilith's. Between Charlie saying she hasn't seen her mom in 7 years, Alister being missing for 7 years, and Zestal saying something about Alister possibly being in Heaven, idk, that also makes the whole song of Lucifer vs Alister more hilariously weird and could shead some light on the reason Alister is even helping Charlie.
@EnteraName18768 ай бұрын
30:28 You need to remember why the extermination happen in the first place. Charlie said that it happen because of overpopulation in hell so she presented a solution that would solve the problem: by sending sinners to heaven. In doing so, extermination would be no longer needed. Basically, even if Charlie made Hell a better place and stop the extermination, it doesn't solve the overpopulation. That's why she's doing all of these.

You seem to be wary of Alastor. So here are some things about him that were confirmed outside of the show (and I do not think are spoilers). By the way, I would recommend checking out the prequel comics to Hazbin Hotel. They are canon and they go a bit into the lives of Alastor and Angel Dust before they joined the Hotel. In life Alastor was a serial killer. He would target people who he felt did not live up to his standards or people who he felt disrespected him (or his mother, he is confirmed to be a bit of a Mama's Boy). He would bury his victims at a deer hunting ground, and one day when burying a victim a hunter mistook his brown hair for a deer and shot him dead. That is why he has the appearance of a deer and the x mark on his forehead under his hair where he was shot. Mortal souls in Hell become Sinner Demons, and their appearance and their powers are based on their appearance when alive, their sins, the way they lived their lives, their personality, and how they died. For example in addition to the deer form and the forehead x, Alastor was also a radio show host, which is why he has a radio microphone. That microphone is a part of Alastor's body, even though it is not continuous with his main body, and it also represents a lot of his power. Sinner Demons grow more powerful over time and grow more powerful the more souls they own and the more deals and contracts they make. In Hell, contracts and deals are soul-binding and cannot be broken, they are enforced by the power/magic of Hell itself. Sinner Demons are considered to be higher in the hierarchy of Hell than most Hellborn Demons (Imps, Succubi, Hellhounds, Loansharks, Etc...), only the Demon Royals/Nobles, the Seven Deadly Sins, and the Royal Family of Lucifer are higher than Sinner Demon Overlords and other Sinner Demons. One of the reasons for this is because Sinner Demons just continue to grow in power, while the Hellborn Demon races beneath them do not. Additionally, Sinner Demons cannot reproduce, but they also do not age, and if they are killed they will in time, slowly, and painfully regenerate or respawn. The only way to permanently kill a Sinner Demon is to kill them with an angelic weapon, which will prevent them from respawning, but leave their scattered shredded consciousness in continuous pain as it cannot respawn. So Sinner Demons have a kind of immortality (except from angelic weapons), Hellborn demons do not have that. If a Hellborn demon is killed they are gone forever, and they age (though they do not die from old age), and they reproduce. Alastor is a weird case. Sinner Demons usually have some power, but only a little when they manifest in Hell. Alastor started off with a lot of power. In fact the creator has stated that she hasn't even fully decided all the powers Alastor has (we have seen him do a lot of stuff with shadow creatures, shadow transportation, shadow tentacles, etc...). Now I have a fan-theory as to why Alastor started off with so much power. In life, Alastor lived in New Orleans (he is actually mixed raced Louisiana Creole), and a local religious tradition in some parts of the area is Vodou. When Alastor gets all super demonic various symbols show up, including one which is a real life Vodou symbol (this actually caused some controversy with real life Vodou practitioners feeling offending by the depiction of one of their symbols in this demonic way, calling it a cultural appropriation, which may result in it not appearing in the future). This makes me think that in life, before he died, he either practiced a fictional version of Vodou, or made some kind of deal with a Vodou practitioner prior to death. I think this bestowed on him some special talents when he reached Hell.

I do agree, just remember that what Faustisse said is not longer canon, so Al dying by a Hunter is no longer confirmed, just that his death had to do with dogs :3 also Im pretty sure the comics are not longer canon as well but I don’t remember who said it

I watched your reaction to episode 8 and saw you wondering about the deal and freedom Alastor spoke about. I feel like you missed very important thing in this episode. At 27:04 is a speech of Alastor and Husk, where Husk says "Big talk from someone who's also on a leash". Which implies, that Alastor owns his soul to someone.

Charlie's Canon age is 200 years. #Theory Charlie wasn't first children of Lilith and Lucifer but they all born death. @ LadySygerrik Some stories of Lilith have her cursed with the inability to have children, with all of hers being either born dead or dying shortly after being born. It could be Charlie isn't their first child, just the first one to survive. @Valentino simp If we learned anything from Helluva Boss, it's that Viv love morbid backstories soooo

Think I figured what is the deal with that scene with Lilith taking Charlie away, at least I have a simple idea... Lucifer was working, or thinking, and Charlie just got curious wanted to see what dad was doing, and Lilith went after her and "retrieved her" like "don't disturb dad, he is busy". Could be that innocent, back then they might have been okay. He was just very busy.

About Helluva Boss It's set in the same universe as Hazbin Hotel; it was first made to explore how hell relates to Earth, but after they knew what the audience actually wanted they started exploring Hell itself (the part of Hell that we don't see in Hazbin a.k.a. the other rings and a part of the pentagram called "imp city", in the pride ring). This extended universe is called "Hellaverse" and there's lots of videos of Cartoon Universe and Sarcastic Chorus explaining and theorising on this! I say you'd have fun watching Helluva Boss, It's a lot like Hazbin but a bit more crude sometimes, though I want to warn you that the first season/episodes are from the time when the show was still exploring Earth, the pilot isn't considered canon anymore and the quality of script and animation gets exponentially better the further you go. Have a good rest of your day/night!!
@sybariticcupboardrat37638 ай бұрын
24:25 The behind the scenes info on Alistor's power is that he was supposed to be into voodoo when he was alive. But that was never made canon, and it probably never will be because americans are only allowed to write about christianity. For all other religions you must have people who actively practice that religion in the writer's room or it's considered culturally insensitive.

People like Alastor because of the way he is evil, not because he would be a good character. Of course he is a bad guy with hidden bad intentions. Also as I have heared, the creator explained this episode by saying Alastor was intimidated by the much greater power "entering his territory", and was very clever immediately figuring out how to "attack" not through a competition of power, but "fatherhood", finding Lucifer's weakness immediately. He DOES NOT actually feel a bond, he DOES NOT actually feel like a dad to Charlie at all. He just did that to piss off Lucifer. Also, lol, punishment would not make a sense if they would not remember their sins. They have souls here, this show has supernatural...also they have a new brain, in a new body. Memories just transfer.

Alastor is MUCH more permissive of women, than men, and he's quite fond of Mimzy, I think, not only because they're friends, and he likes taking care of her, but the chaos she stirs up allows him to "let loose." He just doesn't like that she brought it to the Hotel, which is kinda under his protection. Women will almost always get away with touching him more than any man. He was a mama's boy, in life, and his victims were pretty much awful men, supposedly. Tho, I think the gender-bending types live in a weird middle place, like Vaggie and Angel. Way back when, before Hazbin Hotel was a concept, Alastor and Mimzy were actually a couple.

The depression is strong with this one. All jokes aside, Lucifer is my favorite character, and his voice actor Jermey Jordan? Oh my god talk about an angelic voice. I don’t believe I could think of anyone better to voice Lucifer. As for Lucifer’s character, it’s so well done. I see a lot of people grilling him for being “absent”, but you have to stop on consider things. He’s a broken man. He was cast out of heaven before he could see the good that came from his actions and was doomed to only see the bad that came from humanities free will. You can’t really call him an absent father either considering Charlie hasn’t reached out to him. Lucifer said “this is the first time she’s called you in years”, so she isn’t really trying for a relationship with her father. I think it has to do with Lilith since we saw her taking Charlie away from Lucifer, like she was keeping them separated or something. It’s clear Lucifer loves Charlie, he wants to be present in her life. I really want to see more of him in season two and learn more about what happened.
