No reason to apologise to us as you showed all the beauty and had no idea this tragedy was going to unfold. Honestly the best advice 8 can give you, is Not to move out here until we get better highly knowlegable and capable people running our State, County and Cities. No excuse for not having water or funding the Fire Departments needs for this type of event. We pay very high taxes, prices for food, gas , utilities and housing. More so than most States. You both very smart and I know you will figure out the investment pro and cons, along with the right timing if Cali is where you want to call home. Natural disasters happen almost everywhere, but we do have earthquakes, many large fires, homeless crisis, gang problems, huge drug problem along with the high cost of living. Just being real with you. It is a gorgeous State and a melting pot. Weather is awesome in southren cali and we have both mountains and ocean. Love you both and your video/vlogs. I know you will both make the right decesion for yourselves. ❤

I didn’t think you were insensitive doing your vlog. I knew it was filmed before the new year as bits I picked up stated in the vlog. I enjoyed watching it. You don’t have anything to apologize for and you can’t please everyone. You made a video of what was happening in your lives, and the fires have nothing to do with you or your trip out to California. If anything, so much has been destroyed there that having a record of what once was is very important. You were likely one of the last vloggers to film that area before it was destroyed, so people should be thankful for what you captured on video during that trip.

There will be a lot of rebuilding. I estimate about 25000 houses lost. Many will rebuild but a significant portion might use the opportunity to sell. A bare lot in LA is often very close to the full price with the house standing. So a bare lot in the palisades will still be quite expensive, otherwise an opportunity to build. There is also the small matter of supply and demand in construction. The demand will be extreme for at least 3 years. So for people considering building new, things just got complicated. I have suggested that lot owners could get boxabl small module homes to live on the lot during reconstruction. They are pretty nice, around 50k$ which is petty cash for palisades folks. It'llbe a brand new neighborhood. A near impossible change otherwise. You could do videos about various stages of the reconstruction

The recent hurricane devastated states not California were mostly left to themselves, any help they received from their governments ended after a few weeks. People are relying on charities to fund cadaver dog teams to find relatives, getting small machines to clear several feet of debris (where larger machines are needed). Apparently when the storm hit the mountains, it caused massive devastation. If you can imagine massive very deep floods just shearing off whole areas. But those people aren’t favoured by the powers that be 😢.

With 15,000 homes burned there will be a massive housing shortage. I would leave the existing home inventory to residents. There will be opportunities in the future to live in LA, you are young you’ve got plenty of time.
