Along with the way black loyalists were treated (and lied to) in Nova Scotia after the American Revolution, and all the horrors of the residential schools. When I was a little kid - maybe around 11 or 12 years old - I was allowed to steer one of the Croatian Jadrolinja ferryboats in the middle sea. I was shown the compass (I guess that's what it was, it showed the degrees) and was given orders by the captain (or whoever it was that was actually responsible) like "2 degrees left", "half a degree right", "that was too much, a little bit back again". Then afterwards I was allowed to look down into the engine room and I remember seeing this big ships diesel with its cam rockers opening and closing the valves rocking back and forth all the time. I'm afraid the ferryboat has since been scrapped (it was already quite old back then), but it was a great childhood memory, which has dulled a lot, and I regret that.

Your one hour monologue was the perfect "big picture" narrative to go with Ben's daily vlogs. You answered so many questions that I had about the trip! I'm Canadian and aware of the forced relocations, but the abandonment compared to Greenland really opened my eyes.

See if you can find the old show "Ice Pilots", a show about the people that fly stuff around northern Canada, mostly NWT and northern BC, in WW2 era and other old prop planes that they essentially bring back from the dead (DC-3 and Lockheed Electra L-188s plus an oddball collection of other prop planes). It is '"reality TV" so......but there's some really nice footage in there, and most of it is fairly accurately portrayed.
@billymanners96294 жыл бұрын
@@Nick1979BN na, it's much simpler than that. The 737-200 was the last big airliner built with a gravel runway option, they're still used for those kind of airstrips.
