I have worked all the JSU home games for the past 10 years and there has been no better years than the past 3 years during that time. I've toured the facilities before Deion was coach and after. Him using his own money and using his contacts to help better the facilities was something he shouldn't have had to do. Games were sold out and attendance was very high. Traffic on game days was out of control and the school had no effective plan to deal with it. The leadership at JSU has been horrible. Let me ask this one question to the haters, if I steal from you and you know it how long do you let me get away with it before you say something? But this man didn't say anything negative, he just kept on pushing through. One of his son's vehicles was broken into when they first arrived in Jackson. Deion offered a reward to get the belongings back. For all of you who hate on this man for leaving and calling him a sellout how much money have you contributed to JSU? STOP PUTTING THIS MAN DOWN!!!!!

He was offering to stay @ Jackson St., but he went today Z, P Diddy, LeBron, 50, and they wouldn't contribute one dime to evening the playing field of the HBCU, but see...they just like talking about it, running that mouth. LeBron is the worst. I can't believe you're asking me about the game and not the Black & White Jerry Jones picture from the 60's. He'd better.be glad he was a phenom on the court, because when it comes to being on the right side of social issues...he another keep his foot out of his mouth. I can't believe everytime he shows his face they're not asking how many thousands of kids are making his shoes! Enough already of a man that's already said, He doesn't want anything to do with white people anyway! God bless!❤️🇺🇸✝️

As a Black Man a few years younger than Prime and someone who enjoyed watching his entire career, I did criticize him on twitter when I first heard the news. A few days ago I saw a video that exposed everything you were just speaking of in this video. I was completely unaware of the corruption going on there. I originally didn't criticize because he left I just wanted him to admit he left for the money which I'd understand because it's a business. I wanted him to stay because I was so proud of what he'd accomplished there. After learning of the corruption I definitely don't blame him for leaving, he probably should've left even sooner.

People don't wanna take any accountability. I went to a HBCU and played ball over 20 years ago and back in the early 2000s my HBCU was mishandling money. Sometimes you don't appreciate something until it's gone. I am an HBCU graduate and I can say HBCU's are grossly underfunded. JSU made a smart move by hiring Deion and should've appreciated him when they had him. Deion gave up so much to coach at JSU. He did more in 3 years than most do in a lifetime. He shined a much needed light on all HBCU's, not just JSU. After hearing this story, I'm surprised he stayed as long as he did. He shouldn't have had to pay for things JSU was responsible for. I'm so tired of the narrative that if you choose to elevate yourself that you're a sellout. We in the Black community need to stop hating on our people when one of us goes forward. Oh, he's a sellout because he left a lot of players behind or he left HBCU'S behind? Everybody that comes with you can't go with you. Look at what happens when you try to take your whole community with you, just ask MC Hammer. All the successes and failures at JSU cannot be attributed to one man. I will miss Coach Prime at JSU, but I wish him well. I definitely don't blame him for going on to bigger and better things for himself and his family. He is no dummy, he would know if he was being used. He is definitely not quiet about it. Deion should be celebrated, not persecuted. God is going to continue to Bless Deion for all his good works. I congratulate him and expect great things for him in Colorado. I want to say to the man that made this video that not every Black person and not every Black person from an HBCU feels like Deion is a sellout. Please understand that not everyone calling him a sellout truly feels that way. Some people are lashing out because they're hurt by Deion leaving. Deion was looked at as a glimmer of hope and when he decided to leave, it felt like betrayal. Some were not aware of everything going on at JSU and just lashed out, out of hurt.

Basically put. Jackson State wanted Deion to bring publicity to the university so they could gain more revenue. Once the revenue begin to come in, they didn’t want to abide by their contract. He had every right to leave. What he did to make Jackson state what it is today is short of a miracle. It’s sad to think that a university would pull this type of stunt. People would be so quick to bash Deion for leaving but what person who is bashing him would donate half his salary back to their place of employment? Don’t worry I will wait

With Deion, they not only received a great coach, they received a businessman who identified financial inconsistencies and fraud. Being that Deion is a devoted Christian, which is shown by his giving heart, I'm not sure how long he would be able to work under such corrupt conditions.

They use a lot of that money to give out scholarships to the majority of there white student body. Think about it!🤔 If our HBC Schools had that kind of money for our on children what a different it could make. Some of these white Coaches are glad Coach Sanders has left this HBC school. Unfortunately it's how my black community is man.. For what ever reason we really struggle to watch other black people do well/better for themselves and be sincere in supporting that person. Not all black people are like this. Many are not like this but as a whole, it's not a good look. In other race/religous communities I see MUCH more of sticking with your own people and supporting eachother. (On the outside looking in) But this mentality to me stems from most not having things they want and seeing others get things they want and the jealousy and envy takes over which i can argue starts as kids ie being the kid who doesnt have the Nike shoes and name brand clothes and gets made fun of as an example. I wish it weren't like this but me personally I'm ALWYAS happy to see people in my community get ahead of making positive changes in their lives regardless of what I got going on. Soon we realize we start supporting eachother more and stop tearing eachother down (and it be over the most minuscule things sometimes) I believe my community will get to a place like others where we always look out for our own.

I'm a 59 year old black man in Dallas-Fort Worth. I believe that there's a lot of nuance to this situation but the bottom line is that I do not fault Dion at all. I am a college graduate from a white school my wife who's black is a college graduate from an HBCU with a graduate degree from a white school. All that being said I believe that we are overrating college education these days. Don't get me wrong we need an education but it could be through apprenticeship or even online learning. I'm retired from a financial services company but I remember reading a Wall Street Journal article a few years ago that suggested and I agree with that even ivy league education are not worth the money. There are few exceptions such as maybe being a Harvard trained lawyer but by and large the money is not worth it. If kids got some life experiences and learned a few things then the money that is spent for higher education could be used for starting businesses. That brings me to my biggest complaint. The naacp's of the world need to publicly call out people like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Shaquille O'Neal, Magic Johnson, Etc. They have the money to start actual Industries that can actually employ people with high-paying jobs in cities. I never hear any talk of any such thing. It is always about asking white people for money. There's a bigger issue in my opinion that people need to focus on. Based on the picture that the Bible paints for the last days, we are there. So you need to make your peace with God through Jesus Christ. That's my opinion. Most preachers in churches whether they are black or white or mixed or something else have gotten away from the truth of the Bible. My encouragement is to read the Bible verse by verse for yourself and ask God to make it clear to you. In order for it to make sense, I encourage you to recognize that you're a sinner like all of us and accept the forgiveness of Jesus Christ and put your faith in him. There is a lot of deception in the world. Jesus in the Bible are the truth, in my opinion.

You should never discuss family business on a public platform. Learn to talk about the issues within our community amongst ourselves. These folks are not family besides they are the main reasons HBCU'S we're created remember that, be blessed and learn from your mistakes.

CAN we also RECOGNIZE JSC put Deion on the map to coach at a White University. Who was trying to hire Deion after the failed Prime Time School and his physical altercation??? I’m waiting cause NOBODY wanted to touch him. So let’s ACKNOWLEDGE they both helped each other. Kudos to Coach Prime!! Maybe he talked too much. He made his reasoning for going to a HBCU about RACE. He encouraged other Black coaches & students to seek out HSBCU & keep talent. They both made errors let’s move on. ALL BLACK PEOPLE DON’T THINK ALIKE & WE DON’T HAVE TO EXPLAIN. Especially to WHITE people who never cared before.

Bro it’s too deep to unwrap the crab in the bucket mentality so deeply in-bedded in our community dating back to slavery.

As a black man , I couldn't agree with you more on that statement. "crabs in a bucket " indeed . Some black people, don't want to put in the work that's necessary to advance themselves but they want the ones that fight to elevate themselves, to take care of them. FOH !

I knew something was wrong when he said “ As a coach, either you get terminated or elevated “ That’s when I knew JSU was on some dirty ish! Now it makes sense. Even if nothing bad happened at JSU, with the same results, I’m happy Coach Prime moved on!! He did so much for that school and that community, the thought of even hating is sickening.
