Being from Athens, the word on the street was that he was a partier. I don't think he got a fair shake but like you said, Fromm was dominating. He could have used another year of development at Washington and let them bring in pieces to help him there. I want a vid on Quincy Carter. I can't find anything on his crazy story.

That was his biggest mistake. Stay another year and improve. Maybe he saw the team wasn't going to be good and decided to take his chances. Now he would have gotten millions to jump to a good college.

HIs rep in college was that he didn't really like to grind the tape and do the prep work to excel in games. He was pretty young so that might not have stayed true as he got older, but I know that was the main reason Smart stuck with Fromm at Georgia. Fromm was a stay late and grind the tape kind of guy, while Eason was more of a "rely on my natural talent" kind of guy.

Damn Jake Fromm doing pretty good. 4 Different NFL teams since 2020. Currently on the Lions and signed a reserve/future contract on Jan 20th, 2025. Not to bad.

He didn’t fall that fast. But he definitely didn’t live up to his potential. Some times your ego blocks your progress. He played for the Colts I think for a couple seasons. My best guess was his work ethic in the study department. Very few can make it because it is not just the playing part. It is the hard work beyond the field of play.

I got a fun one for you 2008 ecu football team. Upset ranked wvu and vt Qb Patrick Pinkney (had 100% completion for both games if i remember correctly. People were saying he should be on the heisman list) RB Jonathan Williams (dude was a beast but kept getting in trouble) Both screwed up their careers. Ecu was ranked 13 after those 2 wins under Skip Holtz

Sometimes talented people just burn out. Accomplished athletes and musicians who spend their entire life practicing and working very long hours to be great either burn out or self-destruct. It happens more often than you think.

his college stats weren't what you'd expect from a starter at schools like Georgia and Washington. Not bad but they don't jump off the page, either. He got lots of chances to make a name in pre season NFL and, again, didn't grab the chance. He got two chances in NFL regular season and threw a pick in 5 attempts both times. 6 foot 6 isn't the ideal height for an NFL QB. Most are 6'3" 6'4". Virtually every 6'7"QB was a bust. Jacob was almost too tall and not elusive enough. He certainly didn't help himself by forgoing his final year of eligibility at Washington. That was a wasted opportunity to develop as a starter, learn the playbook etc.

I don't remember much of his time at Washington, but it looks like to me he wasn't ready to play his FR and SOPH season. Both years at UGA he was very inaccurate with the football, and the team never really looked right when he was in there, so maybe struggling with the playbook is the right assumption. He would've been best suited for the Carson Beck-Gunner Stockton treatment. Development for 2-3 years, and then when it's your time to start you'll be ready. From what I heard at Washington he looked good, but even then the offense never really lit it up, and the PAC 12 never truly had a great TV Deal to even show how great he could've been anyways. As a UGA Fan I remember him having a terrific RB Duo in Michelle and Chubb, and seeing how inaccurate he was with the ball. I think that has more to do with him not playing than anything.

A guy with all the talent and size to be successful, yet I think he lacked game management...which Kirby has proved to prefer a Jake Fromm, field manager type QB over a player who relies heavily on his physical talents. Now, Eason did improve at Washington, however, he relied on making long, deep throws and his accuracy. Eason never gained the mental and cognitive IQ that comes with being a successful QB. Fromm had that management ability out of highschool, so when Eason went down, it was Fromm's job to take and he took it. Sadly for Eason, he never quite learned how to run an offense and/or read a defense. Since he already spent 2 years at Georgia, whatever school he chose next would most likely not have developing him on their to-do list. Rather, they are hoping Eason is already developed and are wishful and hoping Eason can keep their program alive for the year he is with them. Which is what Washington attempted to do and hoped Eason would provide them a similar or even improved season than they just previously had. However, it didn't work out and Washington struggled to even be bowl eligible after winning the PAC-12 championship the year before. I think he made a risky decision going ro to Georgia at the time he did, then followed by his injury that allowed Fromm to take over, and not developing as manager before leaving Georgia, all are what led to a mediocre season with Washington and eventually lead to him being forgotten. Eason had all the talent and potential, but just wasn't able learn and develop in areas that if he was able to do to develope, and if he never got injured and stayed Georgia's QB1...we could have possibly seen Matthew Stafford 2.0 and I believe he could have been even better than Stafford. However, he his just a dude who threw a ball for bit and we just so happen to share the same last name.
