In the US most of the people have to get student loan to be able to go through college studies. Think of it this way: in Europe many countries have free or nearly free education (France, Germany, the Netherlands...) - at most you'd pay usually up to 5.000€ per year. The US system is very different and usually when you pay around 20.000$ you got a 'good deal'! Plenty of people pay 30-60k$ PER YEAR! After 4 years you'd usually end up like Matt (with near 100k in debt)

Leo Desmedt It is so different from Norway for example. Pretty high wages and the education is pretty much free. Wally is a free money tracker app I've started using when I wanted to start "managing" my money. Wally let's me track what I spend my money on, how frequent I buy stuff, and see the current balance of my bank accounts and what's on hand. It's a little tedious to input the address, how much I spent, and on what. A simple picture of a receipt helps with the latter though. Being aware of my expenses and reviewing them once a week lets me adjust my spending habits.

Because some main principles still count. Pay your dept, safe a bit. Pretty universal in the Western world
@NJO524 жыл бұрын
@Memekage Nope. Some countries might have a system to check what your loans you have and if you are paying them. If it is really bad, you might need a special mortgage with high interest, but that is not the case for most things. Most people here have no student loans or they are at almost 0%, most have no car loan, credit cards are seldom used and mostly paid off each month.... there are people with personal loans and who put a lot of stuff on credit crads, but that is not the norm. For mortgages you need to prove what you earn and how stable that is and what debt you have. But no weird stuff like in the US, it is so weird that you need to have a credit card to build a good credit score to get a low % of interest for any loan. The fewer loans you have the better isn't it?

njo52 You must live in some kind of fantasy world. Maybe you come from a very privileged family, because what you’re saying isn’t true for most people in Europe. Average debt per adult in Germany is roughly 30k us dollars. Where I’m from it’s common to loan money to pay for living while studying at university, so most people have student debt despite there being no tuition cost. (Although not as high of a student debt as in the US). Also we do have credit scores. It’s the way banking works in practically every country, because safety means lower interest.

I think this is a great place for me to start. You are so right about being so picky about finding the "perfect" financial strategy. It overcomplicates something so important to a point that I never do it at all. I am going to try to follow your minimal guidelines until I can afford a professional to give me proper advice.

This is so true, it's best just to start with a strategy and stay consistent with it for a while. You can always adjust and adapt from there once you get used to the in's and out's of the first strategy or financial habit you're sticking to. :)

Those of us in the UK are lucky enough to be have a £20,000 (~$24,600) tax-free allowance in Stocks and Shares ISAs. Starting with nothing, if you max this out for 10 years, assuming an average 10% annual return, you'd have around £344,000! Crazy financial gains with £0.00 tax owed! --> Get in as early as possible as Matt says, compound interest is the hardest working employee you'll ever find! :)
@jaysterling264 жыл бұрын
Of course most people won't be ( or don't want to) able to afford that maximum. Another option is to add contribution s to your employee pension scheme. No extra commission fees. One negative may be your boss knows can afford that , so may be a factor when asking for a raise. Cheers.

The video is about "Matt personal finances", I don't think his advice apply to your case. You should learn coding. If you have at least 1-2 daily hours to spend learning, in one year you should be able to land a 2000 usd a month job. There are a ton of free resources out there, you only need a computer, anything fancy, a 200-300$ usd computer should be enough to start.

in 150€ bills are your rent and food? The rule i could give you is kinda simply "free" money, so money you dont pay rent/food/insuarences etc. with, is for you 200€, i would go for 80% investment, 10% speculations (like bitcoin) and 10% shopping/travel money (things you which arent essential, but make your life better) - also from the 80% investment you should first built a savings account (money to live for 3-6 months) and then rest should go in the stock market (yes its fluctuates more than gold or bonds, but also have way better return in the long run and investments are per se +10 years time horizont)

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got to talking about investment and money. I started investing with $150k and in the first 2 months, my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and get more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.

Hi. I’ve been forced to find additional sources of income as I got retrenched. I barely have time to continue trading and watch my investments since I had my second child. Do you think I should take a break for a while from the market and focus on other things or return whenever I have free time or is it a continuous process? Thanks

Yeah, as helpful as these type of videos are for people with bad spending habits, it's not so easy for people like the majority of Chileans who can barely pay their basic costs on the terrible salaries they earn. Throw in a few kids and a few health problems with its already terrible economic system, then no amount of budgeting advice will allow you to prosper. But....I guess every little bit helps. #piñerapicoenelojo
