Hey Matt! I think you hit everything spot on, but rather than set an alarm, why don't you let your body wake up when it's ready? I've learned that setting an alarm might disrupt my sleep state, and if I can, just sleeping until I'm ready to wake up.

agreed! I tried Matt's 1 month experiment of little to no sugar and limiting myself to 25 grams/day and I'm now going 5 months barely needing or craving added sugar.

Sitting down and writing chunks of your life isn't really everyone's style. I can't keep up with journaling my days but I do so with my years. Kinda have a scrapbook which contains my years going forward and how over time I've changed a lot.

Showering is an important part if my morning routine. I talk to God, pre plan and invision my day, and I get clean. I enjoy listening to music that is uplifting. It also is a buffer for those mornings when you're really trying to put your ass in gear and are having a difficult time. Great ideas have come to me in the shower.

my morning routine: 7a.m., the usual morning lineup Start on the chores and sweep 'till the floor's all clean Polish and wax, do laundry, and mop and shine up Sweep again, and by then it's like 7:15 And so I'll read a book Or maybe two or three I'll add a few new paintings to my gallery I'll play guitar and knit And cook and basically Just wonder: when will my life begin?

Literally what I was thinking. If anything it makes me want to jump back into bed more, because of the sudden waking up and having to ‘jump up’. I’d rather learn the habit of turning off the alarm in bed and trying to stop myself falling back to sleep!

Hey! So I recently have added to my (normal) morning routine. Here's my previous: (edit: ignore the timestamps; that's just the time I wake up) 5:57 First Alarm, so I'm not immediately waking up at 6 6:00 Wake up (I typically hit snooze until 6:15, not as much lately!) 6:05 Make my bed, chug some water, bathroom 6:10 Get dressed 6:20 Coffee + Breakfast / Pack bag 6:45 Brush teeth 6:50 To the bus! Currently: 5:00 Wake up / make the bed, water 5:05 Get dressed for physical activity 5:10 Out the door for a run (about half a mile) 5:30 Get home / work out (25 min) & stretch (5 min) 6:00 Shower 6:10 Get dressed Same routine from here Few pointers: A) Make the bed. First task of the day is done and it makes your room look neater B) Drink a bunch of water C) Physical activity helps wake you up D) SLEEP!!!!! (Aim for 7-9 hours) E) Set out clothes for tomorrow Yeah, it's a lot but I actually stick with it. Making my bed is now an actual habit. P.S: Love your videos!

Hey Matt! I think if you wanted to talk about "Quality Mornings" you should also mention about the night before. Because quality morning begins with quality night. Most people forget that to wake up early we have to sleep early too 🤓

Getting out of bed is the first win of the day. Brushing your teeth is another easy win and essential part of ours. Getting hydrated and fed just enough to get you going is a huge one (water, blueberries, oatmeal, etc.). Everything after that depends on your schedule for the day. Big fans of getting outside to walk, run, hike or exercise on the weekend and during the week it is just straight to work and some sort of human interaction. Keep the routine flexible and keep it moving!

I really appreciate how honest you are. I love watching morning routine videos, but always feel bad about myself because none of the things they suggest work for me. I also fall asleep trying to do meditation in the morning. I hate mornings, and I’m learning to accept that I just do my better work later in the day and that’s okay. But I also want to start my day off strong. I’m still working on it.

Love this! I feel like spend way too much time in my morning routine and when the time comes to get the work done I’m already tired after meditating for an hour, yoga or gym, journaling, self care and breakfast. Wake up and go to work sounds like perfect routine to try out instead.

CONGRATULATIONS MATT ON 2M I'm so happy for you! You bring so much joy and hope into my life as a struggling sophomore in college. I literally have 0.15 in my account and waiting on a paycheck, but it doesn't bother me on a deep level like it used too. Knowing that I'm moving forward with my personal finance education, Filmmaking skills, mental clarity, and fitness. I dedicate a decent portion of that to people like you and Nathaniel Drew. Actually inspired from your videos. I now wake up at 5:30 and go for a 25 minute run to get an active start to the day. After I have a cold shower and make a coffee and head to school/work. Keep it up Matt!

What I love about your videos and this one in particular is that you don't pretend to have this perfect morning routine that you do every day and this perfect life full of productivity. On the contrary, you are showing us the reality, the difficulties of having and maintaining such a routine (sick day, lack of motivation ..) and you are sharing your doubts and challenges. I really like it. Finally someone I can relate to and not a pretending-superhero-fake-human-youtuber :)

Matt, I started my 4AM morning routine by the tiniest step first (Lousy action) Alarm bell rings ---- I open my eyes - Get up, shut the alarm off and go back to bed. It worked comfortably for a week and then I could really get up at 4am the next week without any problems. What I did with waking up early started with another lousy action.

Thank you for this video. I love to see that you actually recorded the day-to-day process of discovering what works for you versus seeing influencers just talk about their routines and why they do them. Nobody has a perfect morning routine, if you do that’s weird. But I believe there should be an ideal system, where you do some sort of meditating, exercise, etc all the good stuff. But none of us are perfect, some mornings you just wake up late and are in a rush, and for that you should have emergency morning routines that only take 2 minutes or less. Example emergency routine: Jump out of bed, do 10 jumping jacks or high knees, take a 30 second cold shower, brush teeth in the cold shower, stretch your legs for 15 seconds, read half a page of a book that will improve your life. That only took 2 minutes, if you compound that daily over 10 years, that’s over 121 hours of self improvement. You’ll be far ahead with just this tiny routine. And this is just back up, not your main morning routine.

My morning routine this semester: - wake up at 6am - let dog out, feed dog - poop while social media - brush teeth and invisalign - put on scrubs, hair in bun - leave at 630am for school with cold brew or some sort of energy drink in hand - commute for 2 hrs

3 years ago when I was 17, I built a morning routine that was centred around being less lazy, it included going to he gym, half way through the semester I was in peak physical longevity condition, and lost 45lbs in 5 months

@@ImSuvasco 2 main issues. dislocated by spine due to a wrestling injury (when I was at the top of my game) which lead me to using crutches for a few months. Self esteem got crushed and hit rock bottom in my life due to loneliness and emotional manipulation in relationships. Glad to say I'd rather be ugly but have confidence than be young, good looking but naive and lack confidence. Also don't worry I'm back in the gym

Get a dog! My dog doesn’t let me slip the routine of waking up early, feeding her and taking her for a morning walk. It’s a good peaceful routine that lets me wake up with fresh air.

Great video as always! I've found that the best thing for my morning routine is having a strong night routine. I pack my bag and lay out my clothes, clean my room, pack lunch for the next day, etc., then in the morning I'm ready to go. Being prepared prevents me from making more excuses to not get out of bed.

This weeek I set a new and popular routine in my daily mornings. Meditate, read and journal. I think it is a good starting point (even more during this quarantine) to anyone who wants to take advantage of the day. I feel way more awake and ready to crush my goals for the day after I finish this routine.

Here’s my morning routine: -Alarm goes off, screw around on phone for 20 minutes. -Sit on toilet for 25 minutes. -Brush teeth and shower. -Realize I’m now late and shouldn’t have sat next on the toilet for 25 minutes. -Leave.

I believe you haven’t heard of the book called “the miracle morning” by hal elrod. the basic concept is to wake up 1 hour before your usual time and spend 10 minutes on each of the following practices: 1. meditation (or just sitting silently with closed eyes to calm you down) 2. affirmations (saying them out loud to yourself) 3. visualization (closing your eyes, visualizing your goals) 4. writing down things you are grateful for 5. reading a book (self-help, fiction etc.) 6. doing any physical activity (stretching, warm-up, jogging, going on a walk) and then moving on with your day it has greatly helped me to become motivated and focused from the beginning of the day. if 10 mins on each of these practices seem a lot, you may start from 1-5 minutes and see if it works for you

Walter White it was an interesting experience. I felt calm after my meditation/sitting in silence. I tried to do the affirmations, but I couldn’t get with it. However, the visual actions worked better for me. I would write down about what I’m grateful for and it would leave me with a positive vibe. I didn’t really do the reading, mainly because i couldn’t get myself to read while being Hungry in the morning. The stretching though 👌 that has to be my favorite part. It’s really satisfying and makes me feel refreshed :) Overall: light 8/10 Nice experience Might keep doing it, but mainly will be doing the meditation and stretching

Morning walks have many health benefits Matt. After approx 8hrs of sleep blood pools, becomes stagnant and you don't filter waste aswell. Stimulating your lymphatic system through muscle contraction (walking) is a fantastic way to improve blood flow to your whole body, feel better throughout the day and become more productive. You will most likely feel the effects in your 12pm workout, feeling far more energised. Not only does it clear the mind, but it helps rid the body of waste and fight inflammation. All the best.

You always inspire, thanks for that at first! And about my morning routine is that, I wake up 2 hours before my class, and I just check the time and go wash my face and brush my teeth. Then I would do a 10-15 minutes reading on any storybooks that I love. After that, Id just get ready for the day. The main thing is that, I do not check my social media or anything before my days starts! It really helps me out of the distractions. Okay, I only view some important work/class related Whatsapp messages before my day starts as it's crucial, but nope, no any emotional social media entries or reading before that. I only do some social media checking during lunch time or so, when I'm all stable in the day.
