I feel we are ignoring like 80% of what a shepherd life is in that description. Like he would have hunted any animal that could poach his herd, built a water reservoir to keep them near drinkable water. Would have built sturdier shelters to keep them enclosed, done 800 years of home repairs, patching scratches, painting walls, raising fences. Builder, hunter, architect of aqueducts, doctor, veterinarian. If you give a man enough time, he will build the basics of civilization 100s of times over. Hell if you gave me a 100 years and the wool that comes with it. I would also probably become a master weaver. Just saying.

Here's the balance I'm trying to strike: I could spend 100 hours diving into every consequence of living for centuries, which would certainly be fun. BUT I have to focus on the information that will effect this particular character's design, in a way that allows me to keep a good pace going. This is also only the first character. The project will explore much of the world. Lots of opportunities to dig in.

@@mattrhodesart Nice, it stroke me as odd. But there is nothing wrong with it if its for the sake of the story. And I hope it becomes another great story under your belt.

Matt, you are taking what is a largely brief and in many ways, vague, story and turning it into something incredibly fantastical. So awesome to see your creativity and imagination at play in this.

Yesterday was the first time I've checked DeviantArt in a year. After a couple minutes scrolling down the homepage, your art of the Shipwright was the *only* non-AI art that I saw. Lo and behold, here you are on my KZbin homepage the next day. I didn't realize what the story was about, even though when viewing the art I thought "wow, I wish people drew stuff like this for Pre-Flood stories." Now I see the foot treading on the snake's head, and the snake biting the heel, and my hopes are heightened.

Absolutely love this format! Infusing storytelling into a concept breakdown like this is delightful. Spending some extra time to talk process and learnings from Tellurion is even better--couldn't ask for more!

Matt, would you ever consider making "My Hero" into an animated project? Keep up all your hard work! It's awesome!

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed, but I wouldn't be doing it myself (I'm not an animator)

would love to know how long a character sheet like this, excluding the planning and design-finding process takes to draw?
@mattrhodesart7 күн бұрын
Hmm....best guess is about 6 hours. But this was a character I was prepared to draw. It really varies depending on complexity, and how much is still being figured out at that stage.
