Listen to anything by a band called Forestella. The bass in that group is phenomenal and is usually prominently featured. I think their song "legends never die" shows him but really any song you'll clearly hear him

Whether or not you lose your lower range over time definitely depends on your voice type. My voice has a strong mid-range, a gap of nothing, a strong high range, and basically no low range. I have to work to stress my voice lower and if I'm not actively practicing singing songs that are at the bottom of my vocal range, I find that I have difficulty returning to singing them after only a week or so, but I can regularly stretch to the top of my vocal range with no practice.

I refuse to believe that the way you sang "Old Man River" was the lowest you can go, because I could go a full octave lower than that. Albeit not super comfortably but I got there, and I don't think I'm really a bass, I'm like a baritone that can go a bit lower. I swear I don't mean this as bragging just in case it comes across that way, I haven't sung in choir or anything since graduating high school in 2011, I just really found the "Old Man River" kind of funny since it's not all that low, and I can literally jump an octave down with no problem even though I'm not a super deep bass.
