The problem of a comparison against Picopresso is that the baskets and capacity are so different between them. Here I wanted to compare it with the Nanopresso because they work more or less in the same way. The Picopresso basket recall the actual espresso machine basket and the way we prep the coffee in it.

I believe in most use cases, for each of them, you would have a fire for warming an old kettle. The nano has the benefit of being able to make a shot without it, but..... You will get that one shot & thats it. Both are unlikely to be used outside of camping..... but the Nano could be used as a lunch time machine for people who work outside, like me..... but Id rather just make my coffee for the day at home in a 6 cup moka & drink it cool from a glass bottle thru the day. As a camping accessory, I believe both are great devices.... but I would choose the hand pumping Nanopresso, just in case. Power can get used up very quickly with all of our modern gadgets & Id hate for my morning coffee on the last day be not possible due to having overdrawn power during the trip. =)
@matteofromtheswamps Жыл бұрын
That is a good point of you. I think it really depends on the occasion. For a day trip the battery of the Nano probably will be enough, but for multiple days camping maybe it won't be. Then probably for multiple days you probably will have a sort of heating in general. Thanks for sharing you point of you. Very useful!

You get 4 shots if you use the internal heater, about 200(as per the manual) if you use preheated water in the outin.

Thumbs of steel dude. Getting the Wacao to make a good shot using the thumb to pump while holding the device in the same hand... oof. Impressive. I have to use the heel of my palm to get a proper shot out of it. Good point about pre-warming the Wacaco... with no prewarm the flavor isn't stellar. Temp of water is so key for a good extraction and you drove that point home in your review. Overall a great little breakdown. Ciao!

I am here because I own a Wacaco Minipresso and received yesterday the Outln. Important: I am using Nespresso capsules. My first impression is that the Wacaco tasted slighty better - but as you say, this is totally subjective (I do not like bitterness). On the other hand, the Outln makes a warmer coffee - and that was my main reason for buying it: even with very hot water, the coffee that the Wacaco produces is OK but barely warm enough.

To get less bitterness with Outin, because of the higher temperature, I suggest you to put less water. That will reduce it.

@@matteofromtheswamps so if I had to get just one of Pico and Outin which would you recommend in terms of more balanced tasting espresso overall?
@matteofromtheswamps Жыл бұрын
@@CliffLawrence7 The pico has the same problem of the Nanopresso brewing temperaure is not stable. with the outin you have more stability. The Pico use a different way to extract the coffee, very closed to a classic espresso, so it can give you that idea. You can get tasty coffee with all the devices. It really depends on how consistent and able you are to make a good espresso. The Outin can help you to control the temperature and the pressure (because there is no pumping involved.
