I remember when the Hardys were doing jobs almost 30 years ago as teenagers in WWE. I was a fan of them then. I met Matt through a mutual friend about ten years ago, and we ended up having a lengthy conversation. I was impressed that he took that amount of time out of his day to talk to me. It made me an even bigger fan of his. Then came AEW. A lot of the stuff Matt was involved in was not good, and a lot of the things he said during his AEW run really turned me off. I knew why he was doing it, but you can only defend the indefensible for so long before it makes you look like a goof. I am really glad to see that Matt is back to being himself since he got the hell away from there. I was starting to think he had lost the plot for a while during his attempts to defend AEW. I am happy to see that Matt is doing something that makes him happy, and I wish nothing but success.

Jeff screwd up, ok, but the money in on the redemption story, happened in every other company. Tony Khan will go down in history as the only promoter not able to capitalize on Jeff's popularity. TNA he drew the biggest house there as champion, he is also the biggest house on an ROH solo ppv. It takes someone really stupid to not make a profit out of Jeff's name. Seeing he didn't capitalized on Bryan's popularity as well doesn't surprise me.

I love AEW but tend to agree that TK squandered the Hardy's. They could have easily given them the Sting white glove treatment (they're not as old, but with the shit they put their bodies through for the sport they might as well have been) and the fans would have loved every minute of it. I'm glad TNA seems to be giving them the proper respect.

But the time passes I know in my heart he is going to fail this company with his shit booking. LOVE to see the hardy boys as world tag team champs you guys are better more over than anyone there. Or in WWE. Hardys have the skill and the time put in and they deserve to wear gold !!!

As an outsider it felt like Tony just wasn't going to trust Jeff after he screwed up so early into the run, right off the back off his public walk out of WWE and prior history in TNA/WWE. It's a shame as I like them both. That said I'm not sure long-term the "OG Hardy's" was the right direction, I feel Broken Matt and Brother Nero would've been able to stand out and fit into the product a lot better. A feud with The Righteous would've been a ton of fun.

To be completely honest, I can't say that I fully understand Matt Hardy's opinion on Tony Khan (and/or The Jackson Brothers if that matters since they destroying not just AEW Tag Division but also their own company) even though he's not wrong about his brother Jeff kinda mess up their AEW Tag Team titles opportunity due to DUI arrest situation. But all the same, I'll respect his and Jeff's decision as free agents though. Because rather this is just my opinion or not, it's better than resigned the contract with AEW. I can't deny the fact that screw up their first AEW Tag Team titles opportunity is Jeff's fault, but the rest is kinda Tony Khan's fault because I don't even know why I don't even know why bother keeping The Hardy Boyz before their contracts was expired if we'll never see them as AEW Tag Team Champions. I was looking forward to seeing them as AEW Tag Team Champions until Tony Khan wasn't even trying to give the opportunity that they deserve anymore. And the only thing is much more disappointed and worse than not seeing The Hardy Boyz as AEW Tag Team Champions is not seeing Y2J win the AEW Tag Team titles with Kenny Omega or Sammy Guevara thanks to Don Callis and his goons/"family". Although if The Hardy Boyz do decide to come back to WWE even if this might be their final WWE run then in my opinion, it'd be so cool if they come after and successfully win the NXT Tag Team titles to become the new WWE Triple Crown Tag Team Champions at least before they decide to retire. Because that'd be so much better than seeing them as AEW Tag Team Champions. But whatever Matt and his brother need to do as free agents right now then go for it. And they better not forget about their mission to become WWE Hall of Famers though.

TK could have easily created 4-5 new top tag teams using the Hardy's. Just the idea that it's the Hardy's verse a tag team will get views on PPV. So it's not hard to have another tag team get a strong push off of a match with them. But TK doesn't care about making new stars or money or even getting views. He's just collecting wrestlers and entertaining himself. Just think about how many people are signed by AEW just to sit at home so they don't wrestle anywhere else, smh.

I quit watching AEW Rampage because of the way The Hardy Boyz were booked on it. Flat out. It was when The Hardy Boyz got beat by The Jericho's Jobber Squad for no storyline reason or anything. It made no sense. I was like WHY? The Hardyz loss a lot of matches that they shouldn't have. It wasn't long after that when I stopped watching AEW across the board. I'm not in a WWE camp or anything like that. I never knew what was going on when I watched AEW. It was always all these incomplete programs or whatever. Matches are all over the place. I mean AEW knew that Jeff walked out mid match during a WWE house show to force WWE to fire him so he could go to AEW. So if they didn't already know what they were getting themselves into after all these years then they were just being naive. Same for the WWE if they sign there again. You have to unfortunately accept that risk if you are signing Jeff. I am sure The Hardy's will inducted into the WWE HOF regardless if they get that final farewell match or not.

Well sound like homeboy that Matt was talking with was trying to bash AEW a little bit. When at the end of the day Jeff got in trouble like five times at WWE and then got in trouble in AEW. What did you expect? You expect owners of companies to continue trusting Jeff. So they can put you guys in this big ass storyline just for Jeff to fuck it up like he did in WWE. Completely understandable why Tony didn't do anything with you guys after you guys came back. Yes you guys are Legends and you deserve whatever the hell Matt said. I personally feel like AEW used Matt & Jeff to boost their baby faces. Regardless, The Hardys will forever be the best tag team to exist, not solely based on their chemistry (which was amazing anyways) but the way they were able to grab the audiences attention and relate to them inside & outside the ring. Jeff messed up & that’s on him but he’s human, and to the fans we’re gonna love him regardless of his flaws. They both have given their bodies to the fans for years & it’s not fair to be put to the bottom because of a minor mistake after Jeff being clean for years!

The one thing I will say in Tony Khan's defense is that Jeff has a decades long history of getting sober, falling off the wagon, and messing up. As a recovering addict myself, I will be the first to admit that when you repeatedly give people reasons not to trust you, you don't rebuild that trust overnight. I am five years clean myself, and I am just now starting to rebuild trust with the people who care about me. Jeff has had documented substance issues in every major company he has worked for over a long period of time. This was not an isolated incident. If I were Tony, I would be somewhat hesitant to put Jeff in a prominent spot without a serious backup plan in place. As we have all seen, planning is not Tony's strong suit. I think it was just easier for him not to use the Hardys.
@jesterr7133

Matt is too nice to be blunt about it, but Tony Khan doesn't know shit about booking. He grew up watching tapes and indie wrestling with no story. He only understands the matches. Like any legend who wrestles into their 40s and 50s, the Hardys can still have a five star match, but for that to happen there has to be a good enough story to get people invested emotionally. There has to be a little smoke and mirrors, and Tony Khan doesn't get it. That's why his company is on the brink of falling apart.

Although The Hardy Boyz made a right decision by leaving AEW. And honestly, seeing them on TNA is a little better than seeing them on AEW despite them being a free agents right now. Hell, make no mistake about it because The Hardy Boyz is 1 of the bestest/greatest tag team in the entire wrestling history. But compare Matt's runs on WWE and his first and (possibly) only AEW run, even WWE gives Matt Hardy more moments than AEW could. Hell, the fact that TNA is probably/usually the main company gives Matt something that he deserves more than both companies combined despite he did win more championships in WWE than TNA and AEW combined. As far as everything else goes, The Hardy Boyz shouldn't even waste their final run as tag team at AEW at the first place.

As a day one aew fan I'm very dissapointed with the current state of the aew tag devision when it started I thought it was fantastic but when Jeff slipped your momentum went to zero and never recovered....never understood why broken matt never got a fair shot there

Go to TNA and be the big fish in the small pond.....but the idea that the Hardys should have been pushed in AEW is laughable. They gave Jeff 4 or 5 singles matches when he returned, and he was terrible.

Any fans of the AEW product never had a issue with your guys age. You were penciled in to win the tag belts and getting good reactions but Jeff simply cant be trusted and you had to suffer along with him unfortunatley

AEW is a shitshow, Tony khan a terrible leader/booker/ and terrible human being, he keep doing the same mistake over and over again and he's extremely toxic. He's killing AEW sadly. Time to move on and watch TNA or other promotion. AEW is a fraud with Tony at the head

By most accounts, Tony Kahn is a really nice guy. That’s a recipe for failure on a Machiavellian level. By most accounts pro wrestlers are already tapping into, and indulging their egos for in ring characterization. Add elements and substances that are part and parcel of the job, and you’re likely dealing with unreasonable, and even delusional people. For all the sins of a Vinnie Mac, there are reasons he was successful at this.

Aew at its core is tony wanting to book all the fantasy matches he wants to see instead of putting people in meaningful angles and stories. And they are wondering why their viewership is at an all time low

All love matt, but whoever approved that hardy compound match, with you shooting fireworks and all that bull, has cte. But man after almost dying from that botch, tony should had yall into a better story then helping private party during that time. Gosh I remember Sacramento was hyped to see Matt and jeff, and then jeff screwed up, we were all in shambles. Wanted to hear the song live for the 1st time

There's no fucking way a guy like Moxley, who's a suspect domestic abuser and a clear drunken piece of shit, hasn't gotten a bunch of DUIs and house arrests, but Tony never gives him any shit for it.

The Hardy's did not deserve a break after Jeff screwed up again. Matt had already proven to be old, slow and boring, and Jeff proved that he had not learned a lesson. AEW did the right thing, let them rampage and run their contracts and them out.
