Have been cheering for the guy for a while and happy that he joined an elite club. Having said that, I hope he will not focus on the versatility that much and will wisely choose his main event. Internal competition in US is crazy right now, more so in sprinting events. Apart from Kerley who took his sweet time in 400m before transitioning to shorter sprints, nobody even is able to qualify for Olympics and World championships in both 100 and 200, let alone in jumping event on top of that. So Matthew has some big decisions to make to transition to Professional track & field and I wish him all the luck in that.

It will be interesting to see what happens with him next year. He made significant improvement in all 3 events, and got more consistent in the big meets (other than his 100m performance at the NCAA Championships). He should be in the top 5 in the 100m and easily the #1 ranked 200m runner so assuming he stays healthy he should have a really successful season.....BUT he has to go out and win now that his two big competitors have graduated / gone pro. It must have been incredibly tough running against Fahnbulleh and Laird so much, so let's see how he does as the favorite.

European champ ran 19.80s and couldn't break the top 8 against Bolt, Blake et all. Have you taken a look at the top 20 ranked runners? Bolling stands no chance against any of them.. How is he supposed to survive qualifying rounds against, Knighton, Liles, Bednarek, Degrasse, The Blakes, Coleman, Kerley, Bracey, Jacobs, Omanyala, Simbine? ALL who've run below 9.80 and run 9.90s at 3/4 speed? What pro-level final 8 can he make against those men? Getting an idea why he's STILL in college at almost 23, while talent like knighton and lyles SKIP college and go straight to pros You guys need to let the dude enjoy being a good college star against college level talent He WILL NOT survive a single qualifying round of any pro contest of consequence. Carl Lewis best event WAS the LJ so that makes sense - CLs 100m was just some fun sidegig for him. Boling has no chance in the 200 globally before he can run sub 19.70 all the time and his 100m is fine for college but 3rd division for the world. However 8.25m is elite territory but it can be bettered and this is where his focus should be.
@paultoy9611
@paultoy9611 2 жыл бұрын
Nope.Boling's 400m has barely been explored yet as he's mostly run it as a leg on relays.He's not tuned for it specifically as well as the LJ.Truth be told I think that he shouldn't give up any of the races around the oval until it comes time for the really big meets because they can all be used to tune him for targeted meets and purposes. I think the faster he gets in the 100m and 200m sets him up for the real deal for him which is an odd 400m/LJ double.I think he can potentially run sub 9.90 100m sub 19.85 200m and LJ over 8.5 m.This is what I think he needs to run under 44secs in the 400m which is elite territory.
@chichim2020
@chichim2020 2 жыл бұрын
@@paultoy9611 barath makes some valid points and you literally chip in to disagree with no evidence to back up what you are saying, just pure speculation. Boling will not run sub 9.90 in the 100m, he simply has not even run sub 10 seconds enough times to think he can do this. He can be a potential world champ in the long jump as he is already elite. You're saying his 400m could be world leading, with no evidence other than splits in relays when they often don't even run 400m, can track the inside lane, can use runners in front as wind shields and race from a running start. His PB in 400m is almost 46 seconds, and you think he can shave 2 seconds off that time?

I believe he need to probably drop the long jump if he wants to get close to the Noah Lyles and Knighton. I ran the 200, 400, 4x400 and long jump in the 9th and 10th grade and my knees were already having issues. If he wants longevity, less injuries, and qualify in the next US Trials in the running events, he have to make a tough choice. I know he was ranked in the world in the long jump, but it really adds so much strain on the tendons. He seems to always be so far ahead of everyone in the beginning of the season, but at the end his times are getting so much slower after so many meets. Running the 100, 200, 4x100, 4x400, and Long Jump is too much.

"No chance"? 😂 At just barely 22yo, the man finished 5th at USAs in the 200 ....in a race that had all three WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP medalists. That was after a long NCAA season. Just wait until he's a pro. For the indoor 2, he hit #6 on the all-time list at age 20, in his FIRST season of NCAA competition. There is also nobody in the top 5 who got their spot younger than Matt, except for Spearmon...by one month. He did this when UGA didn't even have an indoor track to practice on.... it's also harder for taller guys, which he ia 6'1". Also indoor 45.51 almost two years ago. @7:23 Confirmation that CL is the LJ goat based on consistent jumps/187 over 8M? Hmm. Would that alone then confirm Asafa Powell as the 100M goat? Right?

I think it's unfair to compare Matthew's jumps against Carl. You talked about Carl's entire career and please remember Matthew hasn't even begins his professional career as we speak. Maybe in a few years after he turns pro you can do an update. Great video though 👌.

Exactly. 💯 Matt hit the 10, 20, 27+ club a month younger than Carl, too.

He's amazing but I don't think he'll ever reach the heights that Lewis did.

What the - does this video have to do w/ The “NCAA being in Trouble”. Although I appreciate Matthew Boling - I am truly puzzled @ the correlation between the contents of the video - and the Title. I don’t appreciate that. It’s not necessary, as far as I’m concerned (also - I though he was only a Junior as far as his NCAA eligibility is concerned… am I wrong?). Thank you…

I was a hurdler. but for my first track meet of my senior year I triple jumped for my first time ever and jumped 39 feet. I placed 8th I think. I kept being put into the event but I never jumped anything close to 39 feet again lol

Even more impressive due to the fact that Carl was stacked full of PEDs. As far as we know, Boling is ripping it up on chicken and rice. I would say that already makes him better than Lewis.

At a buffet, I personally sneak corn into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 boiled corn ears in my jacket pockets. It is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corn thinking they were part of the buffet.
